5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Build Quality but Lid Handle Gets Hot
I originally wanted a Vollrath 3109 Centurion, 38-quart, 10-gauge stainless steel stockpot, made in Italy, but I didn't have $653 plus the lid cost to shell out, especially after our previous stockpot of nearly 10 years got dented and the base almost detached from the body. Searching for a quality alternative, I found this Homichef brand on Bolo. I purchased the 24-quart version in August, and I must say, it has been a solid investment. I've cooked in it at least 20 times already—primarily soups and stews—and it still looks as pristine as the day it arrived. This pot is crafted from nickel-free stainless steel, which is not only healthier but also highly durable. The pot’s heavy-duty construction, with a 7mm base, gives it stability and even heat distribution, which is beneficial when cooking large batches. Compared to my old stockpot, the Homichef feels far sturdier and more resilient, holding up exceptionally well after multiple uses. The mirror-polished exterior and matte interior finish make cleaning a breeze. Even after simmering hearty stews, I found that residue wiped away with minimal effort, preserving its shiny look. It’s refreshing to use a pot that doesn’t stain or retain food odors much, making it feel new with each use. This stockpot’s compatibility with various stovetops—gas, induction, electric, and ceramic—is a standout feature. Whether I’m using it on my gas stove or transferring it to a friend’s induction cooktop, it performs consistently well. The ergonomic handles remain cool, making it safer to handle, even when cooking at high heat. The 24-quart capacity is fantastic for cooking in bulk, but it does make storage a bit tricky. If you have limited kitchen space, finding a suitable spot might be a challenge, especially considering its height. However, if you frequently cook for large groups or prepare stock, the size is ideal. While the handles on the pot itself stay cool, the lid handle tends to heat up, which can be inconvenient during longer cooking sessions. It’s a minor inconvenience, but I’d recommend using a pot holder when lifting the lid to avoid burns.Overall, this 24-quart stockpot is an impressive piece for the price. While I still admire the Vollrath's reputation, the Homichef proves that high-quality cookware doesn't always come with a high price tag. This is a durable, well-designed stockpot that meets all my cooking needs, and I’m thoroughly pleased with this find. Let's see if this will last up to 10 years like my old 20-quart stockpot.
5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING 20qt, 18/0 Nickel-Free Stainless Steel Stockpot with Lid!
This is an exceptionally well-made and robust large stockpot. A little extra care is needed to reduce the possibility of corrosion due to the nickel-free construction, but worth the effort in the interest of better health!I am a very advanced Home and Personal Chef and am very anal about the cookware I use in my culinary work. Most of my Stainless Steel cookware (which I strongly prefer) is European and High-end, very expensive pots and pans. That being said, I am always on the lookout for affordable products that match or nearly match the quality and design of those expensive other items. Few make the grade, but this one certainly does...in spades! The size alone is perfect for a wide range of uses. It's perfect for my use of Sous Vide cooking larger items that won't properly fit in smaller pots. (See the first picture). It is also great for outdoor use on a propane burner for things like shrimp and crab boils for entertaining up to 12 guests. (See the second Picture). The Stockpot is completely compatible with Induction hotplates which makes it great for portability when I want to cook away from a kitchen on my portable induction unit (See the third picture). And finally, in the kitchen, it is great on gas, coil, or glasstop stoves. (See the fourth picture)The tri-ply aluminum encapsulated disk on the bottom of the pot assures quick heating across the entire bottom surface, allowing for rapid boiling when needed. It works very well. The lid is vented with see-through glass and fits like a glove on the stockpot. The 18/0 Stainless Steel eliminates the possibility of nickel-leaching and protects your health! There are virtually no negatives or "cons" for this stockpot. Everything has been well thought-out in its construction and quality is very high!++ 20Qts provides the capability for cooking very large quantities of various foods, soups, and stews.++ Nickel-free construction protects health and those with nickel allergies.++ Rounded lip allows for spill-free pouring++ Mirror finish is aesthetically beautiful and still remains fully functional++ Glass lid is vented to prevent boil-over and fits perfectly on the stockpot++ HomiChef is receiving high marks from a number of test and review sites. Up and coming manufacturer++ Handles are attached robustly to insure safety when lifting a full pot.Cleaning should be done by hand (like all stainless steel should be) and dried immediately. Hard water or calcified water may leave spots at times, but they can be removed with a vinegar solution easily. The company provides instructions for proper cleaning or restoring back to new condition if needed.I am extremely impressed by this stockpot and it will be a frequently used item in my kitchen and elsewhere. The price makes this an incredible value and I wouldn't hesitate buying this stockpot again if the need arose for some reason. Honest and very hearty Five Star Recommendation! Couldn't be more pleased. A+++
5.0 out of 5 stars BEST Stock Pot EVER!!!!
I finally got to put my new 16Qt Homichef stock pot to the test and I absolutely love it! I followed the instructions for seasoning it (which were very easy) and then I made some chilli. The pot heats up quickly (even with the stove on the lowest heat) and the heat appeared to be evenly disbursed throughout the pot. This pot is huge and really holds a LOT of food/liquid. I really liked that the handles to the pot and the lid stayed fairly cool to the touch. Of course, I still used a light silicon glove but probably could have done without that. The pot is made very well - extremely sturdy and I love that the lid has an air vent because that keeps the lid from completely fogging up and it keeps the condensation down so when I lift the lid there is not as much liquid coming off the lid. Did I mention how BEAUTIFUL this stock pot is? It is like a piece of art. The inside is a gorgeous stainless steel and the outside has a really pretty mirror finish. What I love MOST though is that it is very high quality stainless steel WITHOUT the toxic nickel (which is so hard to find) and yet it is extremely affordable. I did a TON of research before I bought this and this is the best product like this on the market for the price - hands down! My biggest fear was that everything would stick to it but I found that it was really easy to use and clean. I guess the seasoning did the trick because my chilli did not stick at all and it was a breeze to clean. It does say it is best to use low/med heat and not high heat but I found you don’t need anything higher than low to medium anyway because the pot really conducts heat very well. I love this stock pot and will definitely be ordering more from Homichef! 😊
Excellent pot
This pot is well made. It’s capacious and perfect for large batches. Our first batch cook was chutney - very pleased with the results. Pot heats evenly and works perfectly on an induction hob. It looks good, too. Really like this pot.
Excellent Quality Stock Pot
The stock pot (11 litre) came in a well packaged thick cardboard box for protection. The pot looked and felt high quality out of the box, it is very sturdy! The polished finish is excellent, The bottom of the pot is very thick, unlike some others that are quite thin. I used this pot to make a stew, the stew remained hot for a long time after turning the cooker off. Food did not get burned at the bottom of the pot because of the thick bottom - with a thinner bottom pot, this happened often with me. The glass lid is very good and is very strong and well made. The pot came with a ladle and this is also well made! Guaranteed for 6 years as well - I think that it will last for a lot longer than that, as the construction, look and feel of the pot is outstanding. I am glad I bought this, I would recommend this and I am going to buy another one of a slightly smaller size.Cleaning the pot is so easy, no need to scrub the pot hard, I just used a light sponge and then only the smooth side, absolutely fantastic! Finally, I am not exaggerating when I say that this is an item of the very highest quality.
