5.0 out of 5 stars Works Better Than I Had Expected
The eggs do not stick like in other pans. Admittedly, the pan is currently not quite as slick as it was when new. I have had it for two months now and have cooked eggs nearly every morning and have done fried potatoes, grilled cheese sandwiches, stir fry, and a few other dishes in it.I did get it smoking hot once and had some stains that were very difficult to get out, but I was eventually able to scrub it off with a plastic scouring pad.I think the key is to keep the temperature down below where any oils will smoke. That usually occurs around 350 deg. depending on the oil. For most cook surfaces that means keeping the temperature control WAY UNDER the MEDIUM mark. I see other reviews where they say the pan was used on "High" and now eggs stick. I wouldn't use ANY pan on high for cooking eggs! I do rub a small amount of butter on the surface when cooking eggs, but I did try it the first time with no oil or butter just to see if it could be done as advertised. Yes, it can be done in this pan. However, I recommend using a very moderate temperature to do it.After 2 months, I do not see any damage to the cooking surface of the pan. Although the manufacturer claims you can, I have not used any metal utensils with it, so I cannot attest to that. Other than the one time having to scrub, cleanup has been simply rinsing with hot water and wiping out with a dish cloth. (I LOVE that part!) Maybe it's just the way I care for the pan, but so far, I am very pleased with my purchase. I did give it 4 stars on heat distribution because it does take a while for the edges to heat up, even when the pan is used on a large burner. I found that it works better for me to turn the heat on low and give the pan ample time to warm up (several minutes) before dropping the eggs in. That is EXACTLY the way I treated my cast iron skillets all my life. I have always been VERY anal about my cast iron...i.e. DO NOT use soap to clean it, DO NOT overheat, DO NOT drop cold liquids in if the pan is really hot because it will cause the patina to pop loose and make things stick. Turn off the heat and allow the pan to cool naturally if it does get a bit too hot.So, at this point, I am just waiting to see if the surface cracks and comes loose as I have had with other non-stick surfaces. It will be back to the cast iron for me the first time I see any cracking or peeling! At least the black patina on the cast iron consists of pure carbon, is edible, and is non cancer-causing.So, to wrap this up, I think this pan will take good care of you, but like many kitchen tools, you must also care for it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Gotham’s perfect pan
This pan is exactly the size that I was looking for. Replacing the same one but this new one seems to be better made!
5.0 out of 5 stars Non stick !
The Gotham frying pans are simply the best pans I have ever had! Easy to clean, nice to look at and fries better than one could ever imagine! So happy I got 3 of them, different sizes
4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty descent pan !
I think this is a good quality pan that is made very well but as far as non stick, I really don’t think it’s any better than most if your cheaper non stick pans. Pan is probably more scratch proof and better quality than most but my eggs stuck more to this pan than my cheaper non stick pans.
1.0 out of 5 stars not non-stick at all
I bought a Gotham pan to use specifically for eggs and omelets because of its non-stick technology. For some reason, this pan did not work as advertised. The surface is not damaged and even looks smooth and new after each wash, however it is certainly not non-stick, even with oil. I recommend trying another brand that will probably even come with a lid for the same price. Just be sure to watch the Bolo return window and you can't lose.
5.0 out of 5 stars With a little bit of Pam, nothing sticks to this pan.
By far the best pan I have ever used!
5.0 out of 5 stars Retains natural translucent color of cooking oils while frying
Non-Ceramic, Non-stick frying pans turn cooking oil a dark color while frying probably effecting the food also. Cnverseley, the Gotham Steel Ceramic Frying pan retains the natural translucent color of the cooking oils throughout the frying process thus retaining natural food flavors. A truly 'lossless' frying pan.
3.0 out of 5 stars Well made but non-stick quality suffers.
My primary reason for this purchase was to get a sturdy non-stick frying pan. The pan is nicely made with a thick stainless bottom that distributes heat evenly, allowing for even cooking. My number one complaint with this pan is it's "no stick" qualities. Everything I've cooked in it has stuck, and in most cases left singed residue. I have tried to season the pan with cooking oil and olive oil. I've used very low heat and brought the food up in a slow manner to attempt to prevent sticking. All of this has been to no avail. Everything sticks and leaves a residue behind that is difficult to remove. After cooking, I've had to scrub the pan to remove residue according to the manufacturers recommendation, then re-season it, but the results are the same. The surface appears clean and unscratched, but the results are always the same.
Great buy
Excellent pan, great size and easy to clean. No toxic chemicals
Calidad, precio, tamaño y precio.
Hasta el momento no se le pega nada y cocino con muy poco aceite. Además es de mucha calidad y a muy buen precio. Muy satisfecha con mi compra. Recomendado.
Amazingly non-stick it’s incredible
Amazingly non-stick, easy to clean
Product looks great, but don't be fooled by its novel appearance !
It worked fine the first week, although it never passed the fried egg test. Most times, I had to pry the egg up along the edge to get it to slide off the pan. It got gradually worse and by the 3rd week or so, it would stick frequently, no matter how carefully I cleaned it after each use, and I only use wooden spatulas. It's now impossible to fry anything at all. Nothing glides in the pan. Seems that whatever non-stick coating was there initially very quickly vaporized overnight.Surprisingly, the pan surface remains remarkably intact, no peeling or scratch mark. Please read this before you decide to buy it, and if you do, remember to return it immediately at the first small sign of stickiness, ( it will NOT get better ) and on time for a full refund from Bolo.I missed the Bolo 30-day deadline for returns, and when I read the manufacturers would charge return postage for a replacement, past the return period, I decided it just was not worth it. No use replacing a crappy product with another of the same. I've had much cheaper, less fancy-looking pans that lasted me years.
scrached up bad
after less than six months of use this frying pan is ready for the bin it is scratched beyond repair and it cracked down the side of the frying pan. would not recommend
