5.0 out of 5 stars WOO HOO!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
FINALLY! I have wanted one of these devices for about a year after seeing one on a commercial (not for the product, but for a pharma advertisement, lol, the things we notice in the weirdest places). Well, I finally had to buy one as we are juicing so many lemons and now oranges and the electronic juicer that I purchased was just not getting all of the juice out of the fruit. Enter Zulay Kitchen. After viewing many juicers and reading 100's of reviews, I settled on Zulay and am very happy that I did. I will start by saying that this juicer is high quality and very strong as well as very well made. Keep in mind, this is not for the weak or may not be great for people with joint problems or pain in their wrists. It takes a little strength for it to be totally effective. I think people with joint issues or pain can still use it because it works so well and they can use their body weight as leverage to help push the plunger down. I use pressure to keep it against the back splash on my counter and that helps with the leverage of pushing the plunger down. Ideally, a crafty person, such as myself, will eventually find a way to mount this so it remains completely stationary, but that will come at a later time. So, that all being said, now let's discuss results. The results are the fact that this juicer get every bit of the juice out of the fruit. 3 oranges gave me 2 - 8oz cups of juice and it took six in the electronic juicer for the same amount (results are not guaranteed, keeping in mind that some oranges are just not as juicy as others and also, be mindful of the fruit size that you intend to juice). The electronic juicer I am speaking of is one that turns when you push the fruit down on it. I think it wastes juice by not pulverizing the pulp. So, I've done lemons, oranges and grapefruits and each time, it worked flawlessly. It cleans up very easily and looks kinda cool on your counter top. Mine is black and and stainless steel and looks great with the gray granite. As you can see in the picture, I have strainers to filter the pulp because this works so well. If you don't like pulp, get these screens to keep near by, they work great to remove the pulp. Also, it cleans up very very easily. Last but not least, a Pyrex 2 cup measuring cup fit perfectly under to catch the juice. I would recommend purchasing this product.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for squeezing orange juice
My friend bought this and has high praise on it so I also bought one and it was a good decision because I have a lot of oranges from garden and friends. It's heavy because it's very sturdy, operation is easy and clean up after squeezing is simple. Remember to put the handle down after each usage because there's no latch to hold it and it can come down and may hit you because it's very heavy. Two improvement I would like to see:1. Add a latch or improve the design so that the handle when it's left at the ready-to-squeeze position will not fall down2. Add a drip pan between the stand feet to avoid dripping of juice when switching cups
5.0 out of 5 stars High quality, sturdy, and efficient!
I love things that don't require batteries or charging. This is a simple juicer that gets out every drop of juice. It has bonked me on the head, so I tightened the joints with the tools they provide. No more bonking. It is so easy to clean. I use a Swedish dishcloth to get the top and the bottom parts to come out for easy washing in the sink. I leave it out, and I have to say, I like the way it looks on my counter!
5.0 out of 5 stars Turn orange tree fruit into fresh juice
Living in Tucson we have fresh citrus available much of the year and when it’s there on the tree, picking it is not the problem. It’s peeling. I have wrecked my fingernails and tried several different fruit peeling gadgets but the benefit of the delicious fresh juice has eluded me, with oranges going to waste, even when I have been able to give some away. We either have no oranges, when it’s not the season, or we have so many they go to waste. Enter the non-electric hand operated juice press! Suddenly the rate limiting step in the processing of fresh oranges into something fresh sweet and delightful can be accomplished with ease. And no more tearing up the thumbnail beds or fumbling around with the cute little plastic peelers that end up squeezing half the juice out of the fruit while you’re trying to maneuver, which kind of defeats the purpose. I love this juicer. It’s easy to clean. There is one small thing to know about. Well, two. I bought the black one. There is something about this enamel (the enamel part does not touch the fruit at all, that’s protected from the coated finish) but there is something about the smell of this item, it reminds me of an electrical appliance that has gotten too hot. Like burning plastic. And this is 100% hand operated. The offgassing, if you can call it that has diminished over the past 3 weeks since I opened the box. Now it’s barely noticeable. I think it kind of smelled like burning electrical / plastic at first, then it kind of smelled like roof tar after a few days and now it almost smells like nothing. It’s only there for the first couple weeks. Do NOT let this report of a bad smell on the body of the device (not the part touching the fruit, just the parts touching everything else) …. Don’t let it stop you from buying this little kitchen friend. The smell goes away by itself. The useful device is a worthy element in a simple health-striving kitchen. Item number two - cleaning this thing… to clean this thing, simply remove the two shiny metal parts that can be rinsed and or washed in a tub of normal dishwater. (Could go in the dishwasher too I imagine). Wait you say, how do you get these two shiny parts unstuck from eachother for cleaning? Observe carefully there is a little slot in the one and a tab in the other. Just rotate the middle part inside the outer part and it slips out easily. If you don’t see this feature (I wear glasses so I miss things sometimes) it would be easy to think the two soap and water washable shiny parts this SOB have become jammed and impossibly stuck together. Once you catch on this tab - slot fitting feature you discover it’s incredibly easy to clean. The whole device can be rinsed off in the sink and dried with a towel or air dried. If we lose electricity from time to time we still have orange juice. The simplicity is astonishing and it’s a beautifully designed piece of artwork for those who appreciate simplicity, low tech and high function. I think the price is reasonable and I wish I had gotten myself one of these sooner.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great Juice Press
This is a simple unit that simple to use, easy to clean and does a really good job. A few things in the design that are not great and stopped me from giving it 5 stars. 10 The unit is quite sturdy but requires that you stabilize with a free hand while fully depressing the arm. 2) When fully depressed, the juice pools in the cup and can get a bit messy (not a big deal, but not ideal), and 30 the pulp gets mashed into the drain holes of the fruit cone (again, not a big deal, but not ideal). The juicer is surprisingly compact and despite some minor short-comings it's very easy to clean and store. I run a distillery and a citrus juicer is a must-have. This is one of the best I've tried yet and I highly recommend it.
Very, very happy with this professional unit.
We purchased this unit from Bolo in the spring of 2022, after trying a variety of manual and electric juicers, in North America, and while we lived in Europe. We had carefully read reviews on this item. This unit clearly rates a 5 out of 5 for a number of reasons.I feel that most adverse comments in other reviews were either inaccurate or, if valid, did not represent the vast majority of purchases of the Zulay juicer.EASE OF USE: From the outset, I was truly impressed with the engineering, ease of use, speed, efficiency and heavy duty quality for the price. This is, overall, a professional grade of product. For those who feel that it takes extra strength at times, I have found that this happens if if you use navel oranges with thick peels or thick navels. Simply place the orange half slightly off to one side, and you will find a dramatic difference when squeezing! Takes a little practice, so why not select oranges with a thinner skin?EXTRACTION EFFICIENCY: There is a thin inner rim of the orange that does not get squeezed completely in larger oranges, but when I extract juice from that area using another method, it amounts to less than a teaspoon per 3 oranges. So the complaints of loss of 30% or more juice are unfounded. If you buy a #5 Allen key, you could loosen the lower cup assembly and raise it sightly to get a tighter squeeze, I suppose. I found that using small to medium oranges js the most efficient. An important part of the design is the physics. As the operator gets to the end of the downswing, there is a final thrust that brings the squeeze cup down precisely such that the iron handle moves forward into the locking position.COMPARISON WITH OTHER JUICERS: When a juicing method is used that basically scrapes the interior of the fruit, such as with electric units, there is far too much pulp dumped into the juice. The Zulay leaves only a small amount of pulp, absolutely ideal, in my opinion.I also ordered a Gowintech juicer that advertised a greater height to allow taller cups to fit under the press. It looks almost exactly like the Zulay. Unfortunately, the set screw location on the vertical support is too high. This means that the operator can never bring the press arm down and back to meet the press in a lock. That last part of the swing is very easy on the Zulay. Instead, the handle is hung up much higher, making it almost impossible for my wife to apply enough pressure to squeeze even small orange. Whether this is a design flaw or poor quality control is unknown, because support does not respond to my concern. So, Zulay far outperforms the Gowintech.CLEANING: The conical strainer and cup are very easily removed and washed quickly. The upper compression cup and base of the unit can be wiped with ease. The complaints of half of the juice squirting out of the apparatus are bizarre, in my opinion. Only occasionally have I seen a tiny errant squirt with an aggressive squeeze. So not much cleaning is needed beyond the cups.COUNTER SPACE: The unit has a small footprint, although it is tall, even with the lever in the down position. Because it uses so little space, it is of necessity vertically oriented, and it makes sense to hold the base with one hand while pushing the lever down to keep it from tipping when juicing more dense fruit. Why anyone would complain about that is odd. The handle has to be heavy to make the process efficient. Always lower it when juicing is completed. Common sense.MAINTENANCE: Any heavy duty mechanical device such as this, especially if used often, requires at least some minimal maintenance, so complaints about this will usually fall on deaf ears for those who understand this. Here are my comments: The vertical steel rod attached to the plunger can be oiled occasionally, just where it travels through the mid support, using olive oil, and it makes a difference. You can test this by raising and lowering the arm with no fruit in the cup. If there is any drag at all, just apply a little oil with your finger.Check the tightness of the lowest pair of circular nuts on either side of the bottom of the plunger, as they can loosen with rigorous use. They are fastened by stainless steel #4 Allen-headed screws, pass through a total of 4 white plastic washers, and are threaded into a horizontal steel rod. It is worthwhile to keep a small, inexpensive #4 Allen key in your cutlery drawer for tightening purposes, although hand tightening is usually sufficient. To eliminate having to do this, though, you can buy a very small tube of Locktite at a hardware store, apply some on the tips of the screws, which should keep the screws in place, perhaps forever, although you can easily remove them if needed, with a firm twist. If you let the nuts get too loose, the entire plunger can wobble and misalign when you are juicing, and suddenly the downward force needed to extract becomes extraordinary. I have found this to be true. However, just re-tightening fixes the problem and it has not recurred.SUPPORT: I called recently with a technical question and found the agent to be especially professional, knowledgeable, and helpful in every way.OTHER COMMENTS: There was a concern from a bar owner about the strainer not being high enough for tall glasses. Zulay also makes an extra tall unit for the usual price.Because of the superiority of this product, I would give it 5 stars. I am planning on buying a second unit for our vacation property. Nothing can compare with the amazing aromatics generated by using this juicer. A breakfast restaurant we frequent charges almost $5.00 US per glass, so we can do this for far less.
Pessimo. Si è rotto esattamente dopo 1 anno di utilizzo.
