5.0 out of 5 stars Steak knives
What can you say about knives? They’re sharp and nice! Good price.
5.0 out of 5 stars amazing!
I first identified this Laguiole-style knife at a nice steak restaurant. If you study Laguiole knives, you'll quickly learn they're made in a small village in France and you pay a big premium for the real thing. As such, they're ripe for being ripped off and sold on Bolo for significantly less money. That is definitely the case here. But with that all said, these are restaurant quality knives. They are inexpensive enough for the dishwasher, quality enough for your favorite/fanciest dinner guests, and inexpensive enough for dad to use them as a screwdriver and not go to divorce court.I gave these to my wife for Mother's Day, which was a little strange in hindsight, but she has always noticed and loved these at restaurants. She thinks they're terribly fancy. She's smart enough to look them up herself but at least I was a hero for 5min, which is worth something.
4.0 out of 5 stars Useful
While not quite as sharp as I was hoping for, these knives are nevertheless attractive and functional.
5.0 out of 5 stars The handle is metal and for the price its hard to complain
Update:It's been 1.5 years now and the blades are holding up perfectly. They've been through the dishwasher a lot and they haven't shown any signs of discoloration, they have held their edge well and are still pinned together really well..I should have mentioned in my original review that these have shallower teeth than what I prefer. It makes them cut "neater" but not as easily as larger ones. This has nothing to do with sharpness etc but is simply a fact about the height of the serrations.Original:I feel like I've been giving a lot of things 5 stars lately but I also feel like I'm one of the few who takes price into consideration. Anyway...Right out of the box they seem great. It's quite obvious that they are meant to be sold in a big box store. Otherwise the money spent on the display box they were delivered in seems like such a waste of money. It's high quality and I guess I could see someone keeping them in it for storage. But at $25 - $30 (for 8) mine are going in my old knife block, or they will be pilled on top of each other in a drawer organizer. Now onto the knives. I've only had them for about a week (8/3/19) and haven't run them through the dishwasher yet. So once I do that I'll update this if issues start to arise. But they seem solidly built. The three pins that mount the handles, to the Tang, look strong enough to handle some abuse. I included a bunch of pictures - to help you understand their scale, and to also show some features, that may turn you off from them. The first two compare them to an old set of cheap steak knives that came in a set (with a wood knife block). As you can see the handle is narrower than those but it is still comfortable in the hand and doesn't slip. I'm a 6' tall man if that helps. The third picture is also for scale.Pictures 4 & 5 show the side and top of what some people find questionable. It's the gap created by the butterfly logo and I've seen some people comment that it makes them they look like foldable blades. TBH that was my biggest concern but in when they arrived they looked much better than I thought. The 6th pic just shows that the handles are ferrous, so they are indeed metal, even if they feel a bit "tinny" I'm glad they are metal so they won't crack over time.In the end they are definitely worth the money, they cut well (so far) and the quality is beyond the asking price. Please mark this as helpful (if it was) so I know it's worth me taking the time to write these longer reviews with pictures.
5.0 out of 5 stars I love these knives and forks...
I didn't buy these a few years ago because the price was so high. Now at the current price it's well worth the money for high quality steak knives and forks.
5.0 out of 5 stars Cut It Up!
Laguiole is my favorite steak knife. These steak knives are a perfect gift. A lot of people don't have good steak knives. There is no going back once you try these. Sturdy and withstands use and always look great.
1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy!
Purchased these and washed them once I received them. We used them the next day and they couldn’t even cut butter they were so dull. They also rusted after one use which has never happened to me even with cheap Walmart cutlery.
3.0 out of 5 stars Stylish but not very sharp.
These look great and sit well in the hand are not heavy but not flimsy. They wash well in the dishwasher. They are comfortable in one’s hand. The main drawback is that they are dull. They would easily have been 5 stars if not for the dullness.
Great knives
Great set of steak knives. They cut well, have a precise place to rest your pointer finger for a comfortable handle, and they look fantastic. Would totally recommend.
Cuchillo para carne
Es un cuchillo de muy buen acero, con una estética moderna, de muy buen peso, con excelente sistema de corte..... especialmente para carnes.Resultó de gran calidad para las carnes asadas.
Years of craftsmanship and quality
I own a set of these knives that were made in the 1940's. I know they have an extensive lineage. A friend of mine has always commented, when over, how much he liked the knives and so for his 50th birthday last year, I purchased this set for him. I always smile, when I'm over for a barbecue at his place and they are made available when having a steak. The quality equally has not changed. This would make a nice and cherished present for a buddy of yours.
