5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I Chose This One
I read tons and tons of reviews for different marble runs before settling on this one. I agonized over the reviews that appeared on almost every different marble run, saying the pieces don't hold together and the structures fall apart. I ended up buying this one, despite a few negative reviews, and it works great! The pieces hold together very nicely, and my 7-year-old and almost-4-year-old love playing with it. When we first got it, they spent no less than 6 hours that day playing with it, and at least 4 hours a day for the next few days. It slowly petered out over a week or 2, and they gradually lost interest, but will still get it out every few weeks and play with it for an hour or so. Not bad for $40. I love that it comes with a handy, drawstring bag so we can pack it all away, all together, and the pieces don't get lost. It's also great that it came with so many marbles, because somehow those DO disappear, despite our best efforts. For the reviews saying structures fall over; this is not really a fault of the toy, in my experience. You do have to build with a little intelligence, setting the towers up in a triangular or square pattern (or any kind of staggered pattern, really) for stability, not all in a straight row, which would be easily knocked over. My kids learned this very quickly. My 7-year-old very quickly learned to build complex, fully functional structures. My almost-4-year-old likes to run the marbles down structures that someone else builds, or just play with the pieces, connecting and disconnecting them, sorting the colors, collecting and hoarding marbles, etc. He doesn't quite "get" the concept of making a functioning marble run on his own yet, but that is fine; both kids enjoy the toy a lot. Only 2 pieces in the whole set do not quite work properly; the two that look like curving roller-coaster tracks; they are just slightly warped, and the balls would stop running on them, so we stopped using them. All the rest work perfectly, and we are very happy with it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect gift for hours of fun
My godson loves this. I bought it for him and my godson plays with it non stop. Who would have thought something so simple would be entertaining for so long. It's a simple toy but there's actually a lot of prices and it's great to teach a young child to figure out how they can put this together to have it give a different action. It is a little loud so I wouldn't have them play with it right next to you while you're working remotely or something. The pieces or super sturdy as well. Very good quality
5.0 out of 5 stars Super fun and good quality.
This is pretty awesome marble run! And I have some point of reference. They existed years ago, but this is definitely an upgrade. So many versatile pieces to create amazing marble runs! Some reviews say it’s flimsy. I strongly disagree, you just need to know how to build it. There are plenty of wider support pieces for the legs. This thing can be build huge and we had it standing on soft carpet without tilting or falling, just build it right, level the hight correctly and place thicker support at the bottom. Plastic itself is thick and doesn’t feel cheap and thin.My son is turning 4 soon and obviously it’s hard to build for a younger child using that many pieces, so we let him build only with limited amount. It’s a wonderful toy to grow with your child. And honestly, great for adults! One con is the lightning plastic balls are too light to roll with enough force, they get stuck and create “traffic jams”. But glass marbles are just fantastic. It comes with a ton of them.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great Set with minor complaints
This was a holiday gift for my children, and they adore the set. The set came with visual instructions for 2 example marble runs, which was great for a new marble run enthusiast.I only have two complaints about the set. The glowing marbles are adorable, but they don't move through the run very well. They are slightly lighter in weight compared to regular marbles, and they are slightly larger than the other glass marbles. My second complaint is that a few of the smaller connector pieces are loose when fitted together; making some areas of the run less sturdy than others. My younger children get upset when some of the pieces fall off.Compared to other marble runs, it is a good set for the value I paid. I would purchase it again and may purchase a second set for larger projects.
5.0 out of 5 stars The most marble run for the money so far
This is compatible/same run as the more expensive National Geographic one. I made the mistake of buying 2 of those first and still never having enough parts to do great builds. On this set there was one piece broke but it doesn’t effect the performance, the lighted marbles are very cool but as some people already mentioned they need to be smaller and heavier to not get stuck. My 4 year old is not offended by it and absolutely loves them so it’s not a deal breaker. It needs to have a couple more sturdy base pieces and would be nice to have some longer support pieces so it doesn’t fall as easy. The marbles get stuck a little in some of the spots sometimes, needs minor tweaking. Overall, we bought it for $39 and may just buy another one because there are many cool pieces and love the xl free style builds. Bought the largest one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Will keep them entertained
This will keep them entertained for hours. The marbles light up and there are so many different ways to put this together. More than one child can play so this is truly a great gift
3.0 out of 5 stars Not for the age groups listed
I would not recommend this product. It is not for the age group that’s listed. You need a engineering degree just to figure out the pieces and how they go together once it is together, which took me almost 2 hours and I have a degree not an engineering, but I do have a degree in nursing so I can figure things out It’s very flimsy and as soon as the kids started playing with it if they even touched it in the slightest it would tip over. I would suggest a different product… once this was! Put together it is fun for the kids to play with as long as they didn’t touch it , I might glue all the pieces together just because of the fact that it took me two hours to put it together and if you follow the instructions that are included, the picture doesn’t match the product as far as the colour coding goes …move on to something else ….
