5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Ergonomic for Large hands
* REAL ergonomic mouse, for large hands* Reasonably priced* replaceable battery, so not throw awayCAVEAT: I'm no gamer but I don't think it's a gaming mouse. I don't think any vertical mouse is though. This mouse has been perfect for me and it's not my first Delux mouse. Hand size is extremely important when trying to buy and ergonomic mouse even though few reviews actually talk about that. Now, "ergonomic" is more a marketing term for some mice but this actually is. I love it having the "old fashioned" battery because as it is, it's not a throw away product the way more expensive ergonomic mice are. I know that lithium is supposed to last, but they don't in many mice, and the charging port can/will become unusable (it's just a race for which goes out first)
5.0 out of 5 stars Give it proper time
So my wrists ain’t like they used to be (get your mind out of the gutter you sicko) and my doctor recommended getting a vertical mouse to help prevent the development of carpal tunnel. I’ve been a flat mouse user since I was a child playing on a Sega Genesis. It feels so archaic to use at first and I know it’ll take time to get used to it. It’s got multiple settings for mouse sensitivity and couple that with your computer’s settings for sensitivity, you can fine tune where you want your mouse speed to be. Very nice touch. It was plug and play, worked right out of the box. The instructions do say to download the driver for even more settings. But out of the box it’s fine. They do have the dpi settings color coded so you know where you sit but then it changes to like a rainbow lighting effect. The buttons are nice and clicky and I’m still getting use to their placement on the mouse. It feels like pretty good quality for the price. I look forward to using this mouse for the months, and hopefully years to come.
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice mouse with Pros and Cons
My mouse died so I had to look for a new one. IT has been ages since I shopped for a mouse and this new ergonomic style looked to have some advantages over traditional mice. So lets get into it.I work on a computer all day 8-16 hours a day depending upon demand. I do not game much. I have been having trouble with Tennis elbow over the last couple months, no idea why as work habits an life have not altered. I thought the ergonomic mouse might help because of the change in wrist/hand angle. I only got it an hour ago so I have no info on whether it will actually help that but it is comfortable. Now for the details. My hand is 7.5" long. Using a more snug, not tight, grip with my palm resting firmly on the body of the mouse, my ring finger extends about 0.25" beyond the LED line around the body while my thumb has 0.375" extra space beyond the end.I like the thumb button placement being 1 above and 1 below. That allows for slight movement to activate the buttons. The main button placement is good. I have medium width fingers and can operate the buttons with either index and second finger or index and ring finger depending upon how I rest my palm in the grip space. The roller button is responsive and works well with a slight detent feel as it rolls. However, it is a bit of a miss in terms of ergonomics. It is too close to the palm to use the middle finger on the roller when gripping the mouse closer. I have to either clench raise my hand slightly off or to the rear of the mouse or clench my middle finger to get to it. Neither of those is ergonomic. Rotating the body of the mouse and thus adjusting the relative positioning in the hand, allows using the first two fingers for the button and more efficient use of the index finger to use the roller. (It would be really nice to have that roller father forward away from the wrist allowing better usability for the middle finger. Then I could engage all three fingers simultaneously...While the ergonomic shape is nice for releasing tension in the forearm, the one thing that is very different is the movement to and from the keyboard. on a traditional mouse the user barely needs to raise the wrist to move across the mouse to type. the forearm can stay on he desktop. The significantly increased height makes a much larger gross motor movement to get to and from the keyboard. I am not sure I like that. It is a very different movement so it will take come time to get used to.The DPI selection is very nice allowing the users who want faster movement and more sensitivity to get it. The instructions indicate that it will go up to 12800 and the cursor zooms. While the mouse works out of the box, some of the features require the driver to be downloaded from their site and installed. Installation requires admin level access.
5.0 out of 5 stars Takes a little time to get used to but alleviated my elbow pain.
At 60, working directly or indirectly in the data entry or data analysis field (not to mention my hobbies of digital photography/videography and editing thereof, as well as gaming), I was surprised that I never got carpel tunnel syndrome, repetitive motion issues, or "keyboard elbow". However, about six months ago, I started getting pain on the outside of my right elbow to the point that a knot formed and my Pitbull noticed it and began licking the knot as if even she knew something was wrong there (the pressure she applied felt great, like a massage, but I digress). After doing some research and reading customer reviews, I ordered this vertical mouse and after a few days of getting used to it, I noticed immediate relief and less pain in my elbow. At work, I started using an angled mousepad which also helps (cannot use unauthorized USB devices on the work network).I have found that for some near pixel-level editing using Layers in Adobe CS PhotoShop, my decades of muscle memory drive me back to using the mouse for some tasks. Despite this, the reduced time of using a traditional mouse since using this vertical mouse has virtually eliminated my elbow pain.It is interesting how much you actually rotate your wrist to make it parallel to a desktop when using a normal mouse, and you can see the rotation at the elbow, which may cause pain for some people, as it did for me.
Not just a dropshipped product
I was afraid that this was going to be another dropshipped Bolo special, I was totally wrong. As soon as I put it in my hands it was immediately clear that this was a premium and well-thought-out product.Pros: Affordable, silent left and right mouse buttons, ergonomic, effortless back and forward buttons, brushed plastic feeling handle, removable palm rest, low latency, dpi button.Cons: Forward and back buttons are easy to accidentally press, no RGB on the wireless version, DPI button is at the bottom of the mouse which makes switching mid-game difficult, slight learning curve compared to other vertical mice.If you position your hand away from the left and forward buttons back and to the right without the palm rest you can hold it mostly as you would a regular vertical mouse. The intended way to use it however is more like holding a joystick which completely removes your wrist out of the equation and uses your arm muscles to move the mouse back and forth. If you want to use this mouse as intended you will likely have to build up new muscle memory.
