1.0 out of 5 stars Deceptive practices; refused test prior to expiration date
I bought this kit in 2022 in the event I would need it one day. The expiration date on the box was April 2024. I attempted to use it in March 2024, and could not register the kit and to contact Everlywell for a replacement.I dutifully contacted Everlywell and they said they had switched labs and would send a replacement. They then told me they would not, because their “policy” is that kits must be registered within three months and used within five. The problem is that I never agreed to that “policy.” I didn’t buy from their website, so I never agreed to anything there, and it wasn’t included on Bolo.Escalating to manager made no difference. I’ll be pursuing this with Bolo and reporting it to my state survey general for deceptive business practices. It is an incredibly deceptive business practice sell a product with an expiration date and refuse to support the product before the expiration date, especially based on a “policy” to which the customer never agreed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Its like a Dr. visit at home
I was skeptical at first. And even though im a little ashamed to share the results, the convenience and privacy of this whole ordeal made me relax. The process took about 5 days total from when I urinated in the vial to when I got the results by phone back. I diddnt realize that if you were positive for something, they give you the option to speak to a Dr. for free within 1-4 hours after they deliver the results and you fill out a email form. The Doctor called me back within 20 minutes, and I had a prescription at my local pharmacy in another 20 minutes. I was fascinated. Not the va, emergency room or random urgent care clinics could do that, and for that price. I paid a whole 50 dollars for the test, and another 13 for the prescription. Although im annoyed its on sale for 36$ today and i bought it only a week ago, even at the full price its well worth it to save that trip to the dr. You can do this in the privacy of your home, on your own time, at your leisure. It worked for me. Job well done.
5.0 out of 5 stars Faster than any clinic
My kit arrived on a Sunday, Monday morning I took a fresh morning sample and mailed it off before noon. I live outside Houston and my sample was sent to Dallas. Wednesday morning I got an email and text notifying me that my test was being tested, later that day I got my results. Every time I’ve been tested at a clinic it took at least 2 weeks, so this was great. I don’t have health insurance so going into a clinic probably would’ve costed me the same if not more, and it definitely would’ve taken more time. I was testing as a follow up to treatment I received for chlamydia a year ago, I wanted to make sure it was gone because I’m considering having a baby soon. Overall I’m very satisfied and will be testing this way from now on.
4.0 out of 5 stars A Comparison of Everlywell and MyLabBox
I was not paid or compensated in any way to write this review. I purchased this product with my own funds.I have used this Everlywell test kit as well as one from MyLabBox. Both kits utilize the same Cobas NAAT PCR collection tube, and both were processed by Molecular Testing Labs, a CLIA certified lab in Vancouver, WA. The Everlywell kit is more anonymous than MyLabBox, because they don't require you to include your name, address, and email address with the return sample. You only mail back the tube with an ID number and birth date. The test is simple. You urinate in a cup and use the enclosed pipette to put some drops of urine into the collection tube until it is between 2 lines. However, the instructions included with the kit are incomplete. What they don't tell you is that manufacturer says you are supposed to put 10-50 ml of first catch urine into the cup. Since there are no markings on the cup, you don't know where 10-50 ml is. If you fill the cup full, you've likely caught too much urine and have diluted the sample. After you transfer your urine specimen to the tube, you are supposed to cap it and gently invert it 5 times to mix the specimen with the reagent. After everything is mixed together, the sample is stable for 30 days, provided it is kept between 35.6 - 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Mail transport trucks are not climate controlled and will likely fall outside of this range, depending on the season. This is one reason why many healthcare facilities use private couriers to move samples to the lab.The return shipping label they give you is for First-Class Mail Package Return Service, which is slow and takes at least week to reach the lab. I always pay to upgrade the shipping to 2-day or overnight, so the sample isn't bouncing around on a hot/cold mail truck for a week, and I also get my results in a more reasonable time frame. After I received my results, thankfully negative, Everlywell reached out with instructions on how to contact customer service if I had any questions. In the end, I prefer Everlywell over MyLabBox, because it's cheaper and more anonymous. I do worry about the accuracy of the test when exposed to temperature extremes. If I do this test again, I will buy a sterile collection cup with ml markings and I will upgrade the shipping to minimize the amount of time the sample sits in one place.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to do
The process is easy and result are fast and direct
1.0 out of 5 stars Unprofessional.
Test takes about eight days to complete start to end.If you’re looking for just a test then this product is fine but it is not a complete solution. I got my results back and found out I was positive and they set me up for a free consultation. I get on the phone with there 3rd party dr. and it sounds like he’s in India. I can barely hear him and he’s half heartedly reading a script. The most important part was that me and my partner can get treated together and he told me it was against there Policy. He refused to write two prescriptions and he was very rude about it. It’s antibiotics, no one‘s going to abuse antibiotics. So the consultation went bad so I decided I was going to send a letter that they wrote to my doctor. Wait what letter? There is nothing that I could send my doctor that he would take seriously and not question what kind of sketchy operation I got tested at. No letterhead. No PDF. No patient name no description. I’d have to take a screenshot of the results and send it to him.
