Our premium foods reflect naturally delicious New England cuisine and authentic Maine traditions. We like to keep things simple, from original recipes and fresh natural ingredients, to the appealing simplicity of our labels. Our specialty seafood and other fine foods are made in small batches and packed and canned mostly by hand, just like people on the coast of Maine have been doing for generations. 5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good

I bought some of the New England chowder and the crab bisque to try the brand out and the bisque is bland and full of shells but the chowder is really good. It's easy to heat and ready to eat so it's a tasty fast meal. There's large chunks of clam and potato and the clams are tender and sweet. The only thing is it's not as thick or creamy as homemade or a good restaurant but it's still much better than other brands.

5.0 out of 5 stars The real deal

We are long time New Englanders now living in California. They do not know what clam or fish chowder is here. Well, some do, but not in the stores. Thin and tasteless with too many potatoes the local canned variety is not worth buying. SO. Here we have it shipped in. The real thing. Thick milky broth and full of clams. Ahhhhh. As good as any Boston restaurant.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than grocery brands in my opinion.

Have used two cans of the 3 I purchased online. First was good and then I found some tips to improve the flavor on the next, and the 2nd can was even better. I poured the ingredients into a sauce pan and now I add 1/2 n 1/2 to give it the creaminess it needs. I also add a couple of teaspoons of butter and some black pepper. I put oyster crackers on top when it's in the bowl and it is VERY tasty. Lots of clams and potatoes. Next can I am going to use evaporated milk instead of 1/2 n 1/2 for the base creaminess.

1.0 out of 5 stars Really disappointed .... horrible product.

I ordered 6 cans of Bar Harbor (based/produced) New England Clam Chowder "ready-to-serve" expecting the taste and composition would mirror the NE clam chowder I enjoyed locally while stationed at Brunswick ME naval air station many years ago. To my disappointment what I got was horrible tasting.Instead of a thickened base with measurable sized pieces of clams - what you'd expect NE clam chowder would be (and how I remembered it) - the liquid base was essentially thin milky water and the clam content was near non-existent. No celery, no potato ... nothing but the milky thin base liquid and totally tasteless, and on top of this it didn't have any fishy/clam/seafood odor whatsoever.Purportedly this product is produced in Bar Harbor, ME.... but I've visited Bar Harbor on vacation and in no way does this canned product remotely resemble the same content and composition of what you get in the local eateries.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good flavor but watery, with hardly any potatoes or clam meat. Won't buy again.

I have had clam chowder and I thought this was expensive and watery, with hardly any potatoes or clam meat. Won't buy again. Think of Oliver Twist in the scene from the famous orphanage movie where he asks for more watery gruel, "Please, sir, may I have more?" Seriously, I was not expecting much clam meat but what are potatoes, you can buy 10 lbs. of potatoes for a few dollars? Keep looking, I say...

The way the product was presented for sale was confusing. I thought I was getting 3 cans. However, the recipient was happy with the product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Virtually tasteless, Watery and incredibly, almost clam free.

I come from a family of lobsterman and sword fisherman, bluefin, tuna, off the coast of Massachusetts. I used to clam as a little boy. This chowder does not deserve the name Bar Harbor, which is a venerable old Seaport with great sea fairing tradition. This soup is more disappointing than the presidential election upcoming. I actually found the Progresso and Campbell’s clam chowder to be better. ?Although they’re all a little heavy on the potatoes). This is just heavy on being tasteless. Don’t know how they do it but they did it!Incidentally, the best clam chowder online is “Tony’s clam chowder” from Cedar Key Florida …follow the directions and you will not be disappointed. You can thicken it according to your taste. No, I don’t own Tony’s! I just give it darn about what I eat

5.0 out of 5 stars Good basic chowder
