5.0 out of 5 stars Great for what I needed
It’s good to know Go Trax is making a fairly consistent product over the years as my review/experience is relatively the same as reviews from 5 yrs ago to current.Pros: (1) deck is decent for averaged sized feet for men and women; (2) easy to use; (3) battery life is ok, but not overachieving its listed range; (4) speed is consistent (goes up to 15.5 mph on flat asphalt).Cons: (1) it’s only 250W - what you paid for, which means you will lose speed/power uphill and range is limted; (2) it will eventually make a squeaky/rattling/creaking sound (but still be structurally sound and doesnt seem to effect physical performance); (3) stiff ride (but, again, i didnt pay for a scooter with additions such as shocks).I got this scooter about 9 mos ago. I use it to run local errands (about 4 mi RT) or occasionally to commute to work (about 7-8 mi RT). I live at the bottom of a 6% grade hill and weigh 160 lbs. If i dont have to stop for traffic at crosswalks, i dont lose momentum; if i do stop, on a particularly steep section … well, I would have to push/walk-it to a spot where I can regain momentum (or crawl at 5 mph and watch people wonder why I’m on a scooter that I can probably walk faster than). The scooter has governors so you really can’t “make” it go faster than about 15.9 mph (even downhill; you can’t “free-wheel it). Brake works well (unless you’re riding in wet/cold conditions…it can get a little sketchy…but owner’s manual advises against using it in either condition). IDK what the little bell is for, nor who would use it (probably can save money by not installing it on every scooter) — I mostly ride on the sidewalk or bike lane (depending on the amount of traffic and the posted speed limits) so I dismount for pedestrians on sidewalks and walk past them and remount. I bought mine on a $177 lightning deal and i must say, it was well worth it. Whether I take my car to the shop and it needs to be there for awhile, or need to return things at Bolo drop off at Whole Foods (LOL), off scooting I go! My friends have ninebots and other brands and have paid much much more money. If you’re not looking for all the bells (LOL) and whistles and you just want to do some reasonably-priced, reliable scooting, I really have to say this was a really good deal!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Scooter with Great Support
Review:I purchased this scooter back in August as a way to get around campus. The scooter works great and its range and speed make it a perfect way to get around. Being able to fold it to carry inside to charge makes it absolutely amazing to use. The range is around 7 miles on a hilly campus but it handles both the terrain and the weather well. The scooter easily reaches its max speed of 15.5 MPH (it does drop when going up a hill or when low on power). My commute is around 3 miles (one-way) and to be able to take the scooter that distance at a relatively fast speed, combined with its lightweight design and ease of use make it a really great purchase.Product Support:A few months in my scooter experienced an issue where it would not charge when plugged into the adapter. The battery simply was not receiving a charge. Luckily, the scooter comes with a 2 year warranty for parts. I contacted support, and Kayla from the support team responded promptly and helped me troubleshoot the issue. Within a few days, they had already shipped a new battery to me to replace. After replacing the battery, my scooter went back to working as normal. This was one of the best support experiences I've had with a product and they helped me to resolve the issue completely.Overall:A great product for commutes around 7 miles with great product support. The scooter has a relatively fast speed (averages ~12 MPH on a hilly campus). It charges within 6 hours and is light enough to carry inside to charge. It is very light to carry and is very easy to use. It is being sold at a great asking price and is a great value for your money.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price.
Edit: Just 30 days past the 90 day warranty, the battery in my scooter failed. I guess I'm not surprised for such a low cost device. Good batteries are expensive. A new battery from Gotrax is about one hundred dollars. Yuck.-----I've had the Gotrax GXL V2 for about a week now. Summary: This scooter is a bargain at sub-$300.Build quality is quite good. It comes mostly assembled. All you need to do is attach the brake cable and the handlebars. Go to the Gotrax website for assembly videos and instructions. The instruction manual that came with the scooter is out-of-date. There was a little bit of paint inside the threads for the safety pin which made it a little difficult to install the first time. Everything else seemed great.I gave it a full charge before riding the first time. It was mostly charged out of the box and only required about an hour on the charger. The light on the charger turns green when the battery is full. I did a 10 mile ride on residential streets and a bike path. I weigh 160lbs and the terrain here is mostly flat. I was at maximum speed for most of the ride, and returning home the battery gauge was between one and two bars, depending on the throttle. It was at two bars cruising and would drop to one bar when accelerating. I didn't notice any slowdown of the scooter through the trip. The speedometer shows a top speed of between 15 and 16 mph. However, I believe this is generous and the actual stop speed is closer to 13 mph. Regardless, this seems like a reasonable speed on a vehicle with small wheels. The scooter has two "gears" as Gotrax calls them. They really aren't gears, they are just the controller limiting your top speed. Speed 1 is the default when you first turn the scooter on. Its top speed is about 8 mph which is perfect for navigating sidewalks or anywhere that you'd have to be careful when riding. Speed 2 tops out at an indicated 15 mph, but I believe it is closer to 13 mph. The acceleration is quite good for a 250 watt motor. I have no doubt that the motor is capable of moving the scooter faster than 15 mph, but the controller keeps you there or below. Not only is that safer, but much easier on the batteries and all the components on the scooter (tires, bearings, welds, etc.). I think Gotrax did a great job here.As for range, I'm perfectly happy. My 10 mile trek was about as far as I'd want to go without a break. You'll see some poor reviews complaining about range. Keep a few things in mind. It is possible to have a defective battery that could cause severely limited range. Open a problem report with Gotrax and get it replaced under warranty. However, even with a good battery, range will vary with several factors. The heavier the rider, the more energy required to move them. A large part of the energy expended is accelerating to speed and climbing hills. The heavier you are, the more battery that takes to do. If you weigh 80 pounds and live where it is flat and you never have to stop, you will get great range. If you weigh 220 pounds (scooter's rated maximum) and live where there are many steep hills and lots of stop-go, then you will get much less range. That's just the way the science works.I did notice that Gotrax has fixed some things that people have complained about in the past. There was a bug that if you press and hold the power button to turn off the scooter, if you keep it pressed too long it will turn back on. They fixed that bug. Also, I was impressed to see that they filled the tubes with some kind of sealant from the factory. I bought a bottle of "slime" for these tires but didn't need it. Thanks Gotrax. The scooter uses regenerative (engine) braking on the front wheel and has a disk brake on the rear. I wish that the regen brake had a separate button to engage as that would make smooth braking easier. Even the way it is, it's fairly easy to brake quickly. Just lean back a bit. But when the regen brake kicks in you can really feel it slow down. Practice braking a bit before venturing out into traffic. Also, I really dislike the throttle lever. It is a little thumb-operated lever where you push to accelerate. It is very difficult to hold a constant speed at anything other than "full throttle" because as the scooter bounces, so does your hand. That also makes using the cruise control difficult because the throttle needs to be held constant for 5-10 seconds. Good luck doing that at anything other than full throttle. Those are my only negatives. Gotrax did an excellent job in designing this scooter. All the electronics are in the handlebars. The battery is very easy to replace. It is fairly light, smooth and stable. A great buy at this price.
The best commute scooter ever.
It had been a long time that I commuted with a simple bike. Finally found out a green and budget friendly alternative. This has been the most amazing purchase I've ever made. Especially if you want to commute within city. The city I live in is not on a plain, still the scooter easily goes uphill without any problems. Grocery shopping has never been so easy. A great alternative for a car for students who can't afford a car. The built quality is amazing. There are some fancy features which other scooters offer for a little more but aren't practical to be honest. All you need is a powerful motor and a good battery which this scooter has. The LG battery makes a huge difference. The depletion rate is minimum for maximum power. I've personally taken this on bike trails too and the promised range was just achieved easily. I hope it remains the same after a few months of use too. The tires are good quality, traction is good. Suspension would've been great but doesn't make a huge difference still. Hat's off the the company for make it a hardware beast for the price range. Would suggest everyone to get one, for use or just for fun. You won't regret rge purchase. It looks cool aswell.
Speed
Hey this thing is just perfect.. i mean next week in srarting uber eats...woow man the only thing i can't figure out the speed sometimes i can fo up to 13km ps sometimes 9.5 help?
buy one if you under 200lbs
Love these things for the price. We live in a busy downtown city. Bought for the kids to tour around on during the crisis to help keep they're sanity. They're amazing. Imm 220 lbs. Right at the top of the weight limit. I can make it maybe 10km on a full charge! Amazing! Me and the wife will sometimes take off on them too. Lots of fun. Easy to use. Good quality, amazing quality for the price!Wish they had more power and battery for me being a bigger dude. The wife and kids can make it pretty far. Id say they can easily get 20kms.I've ordered an iMotion L9 for myself at it has a massive battery, bigger tires and very sturdy for me as I'm topping the weight limit on these and I will soon grab one more of these for the wife so we all have one. An absolutely fun time!Awesome buy!
Meilleure trotinnette sur le marché
Belle achat.
Nice bang for the buck!
Its a nice entry level scooter, everyone will be pleased with it, i am 6'3" 200lbs and it rides like a breeze, for that price you cannot go wrong!
