5.0 out of 5 stars Affordable and best for gaming
I've had g635 headphones for 8 years. Those were not ideal: heavy, squeaky construction, ecoleather cups started to shed black pieces, usb cord stopped working in 8 months and when it did it almost deafened me with a glitch noise a couple of times. Why I liked them? Be it Call of Duty or Battlefield or any other game, these were the only headphones (I've tried many) which allowed me to setup dtx sound so that I could hear footsteps, noises etc around me and above or beyond without mistake. Don't believe me? search for gaming surround BS: there's a test where only G series headphones gave best results. These headphones have corrected previous mistakes: they are still a bit squeaky, a bit more heavier than version with the cord, but more bassy and the footsteps (any surround sound actually) gives away your enemy's 3d position in space without mistake. There are plenty of options to go if you wish to improve your experience with these. Pro tip: if you have issues on pc, lower the quality of sound to other than 44hz option in sound settings. The quality in fact will be much better.
5.0 out of 5 stars An iterative improvement.
This review is written from the perspective of someone who owned the original G930, and later the G933, and now having used the G935 for a few months. The GoodAudio is still great despite no longer shipping with Dolby Support. The DTX Surround is better tuned on this device (I didn't like the DTX sound on the G933) and sounds just as good as the Dolby on the G933New side tone feature is really nice, not just for hearing what I sound like but also for situational awareness.Since the noise cancelling is so good, it's nice to be able to turn on side-tone and be able to hear my environment when I need to.The leatherette ear cushions are surprisingly breathable. This was one of my biggest concerns since I've had leatherette over-ear headphones before and my ears and hair got really sweaty after just an hour or two of use. Since I work from home I was concerned that this new headset would get too hot for all day use. Thankfully I haven't had a problem with this. I can wear it comfortably all day and not get sweaty. Also, since it's the exact same shape and size as the G933, you can swap out the leatherette cushions for your old G933's if you prefer them. Also any replacements made for the G933 should also work for the G935.The new software is more flexible.I don't like how I can't see it's charging status while tuning the device (you can only see it from the home screen), but that's really nothing to complain about. There are a lot more options, you can have multiple profiles for the same game. I personally only use it to turn the lighting off and set the sleep timer but hey, it is objectively better. And the new software can actually be minimized which I really appreciate.Does a better job of switching between PS4 and PC.The G933 would sometimes get confused if I try to move from the PS4 back to the PC and I'd have to turn off the headset and then turn it back on to get it working again. So far I haven't had that issue and it works great with the PS4 just like the last two headsets. The BadStill has the same mechanical power switch. So like I said I work from home and use this headset daily, almost all day. My G933 headset's power switch got worn out and stopped functioning properly. When turning the headset on I would only get audio in the right ear, and had to take a screw driver, open up the left ear and gently push the little plastic arm of the power switch back into proper alignment so it would work again. This was extremely frustrating but can be avoided by simply not using the power switch. So I've turned it on, and never turn it off. I just let it go to sleep, and when I need to wake it up, all you have to do is plug it in. As soon as it's plugged in it will power on or wake up so that is what I recommend doing to avoid wearing out the power switch.
1.0 out of 5 stars It got worse.
Update: 1 year later. Totally lost left ear audio. With no fix. Even attempted the "power button fix" Logitech was kind enough to send a replacement. That brand new replacement lasted 1 week until the mic lost the ability to un-mute. I now need to power cycle the headset to get my mic to work again. Every time. Oh and the software did not improve at all. It's still pretty basic and not very useful. I would never recommend this headset after all the issues I've had.The software sucks. I've had multiple instances where the software confuses it and the volume dile stops working.. you need restart your computer to fix it.The software is pretty limited. You can't set the buttons to do really basic stuff. Like go to a particular light pattern or just toggle the lights on and off instead both of those has to go through a cycle with multiple pushes.Audio quality is pretty good. But the mic input is awful and it's quality hasn't improved at all. I've seen $5 mics sound better. And the software cannot EQ it. Instead you have to use another program like audio banana to make the mic sound decent.Stand alone without the software it would be borderline usless. As out of the box you don't get any feedback of your own voice. It sounds like a minimal problem but it makes a huge difference.. it's weird and off-putting to speak and not hear your own voice clearly. But the software let's you adjust that. The rgb looks cool I guess but it limits the run time a tun so you just turn that off. And they dont last crazy long with just audio. And it dosnt have a great battery indicator on the headphones themselves.. you got indivisually adressable LEDs in a row.. USE THAT TO GIVE YOU A BAR GRAPH. They could have easily doubled the battery capacity but they didn't.The presets for supported games suck. Turn that junk off immediately. If you have a big head they arnt the most comfortable. I have them maxed out and it's still just a little too tight it makes wearing glasses even less comfortable. It's not a deal breaker for me but it's not ideal. The range seems great. I can walk around a fairly large house and not loose connection. In total it dose what I need it to do fairly well but with how many generations this product has gone through I'm surprised it's not any better than the model that came out like 8 years ago particularly in the mic quality.. take a voice recording of yourself and play it back. Then EQ it and do the the same. Or even compare it to a recording made with your phone.. it's 2022. Recorded Audio doesn't need to sound like an Xbox 360 mic anymore. And it's particularly important now with all the remote stuff we do.
