5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Cutting Screen Frames
I purchased this Mini Chop Saw to cut small Aluminum channels for building frames for new window screens. The channels are 5/16" x 3/4" I thought that the unit might not cut all the way through the channel, but it cut through it fine with the original 2+" blade. It easily cuts through the aluminum channel. The channel fits perfectly within the little vise grip and holds it securely for cutting. The unit makes very clean cuts that did not require sanding, deburring, or resawing with a hacksaw. This is the perfect tool for doing this task and well worth the investment. I quickly made the frames for 13 screens and have 14 to go.
5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT hobby saw for small projects
I bought this to use in the fabrication of vintage slot car chassis parts. It is the perfect size for accurate cuts on brass, steel and aluminum tubing. It also works splendidly on flat metals, too. The saw blades produce true cuts and the availability of replacement blades and belts makes this saw a good long-term investment for my hobby needs.
4.0 out of 5 stars As advertised!
Shipped quickly & with NO issues. Pleased with the quality & price of product. Bought this saw for my son to work on his bow projects (perfect size for his projects). Longevity & durability is yet to be determined on this product (time will tell). Would purchase again if needed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works
I was trying a new technique with stained glass by using zinc came rather than the copper foil method that I had used in the past, but I ran into a problem with cutting the zinc came. Pliers do not work! It smashes the came no matter what kind of tool I could find, and the metal saw was a pain. This little tool was the perfect answer! So easy to set up on my work table and it sliced the came easily and neatly. Absolutely love it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works well for small crafts. Be careful when using.
Takes a couple of passes when cutting 1/2” half round trim. Doubt it would cut through anything thicker but I haven’t tried it yet. It’s small but care needs to be taken while using it.
1.0 out of 5 stars *DO NOT BUY*
I've now gone through two of these saws in the course of a week. The first one started off strong but developed a grinding noise after about 100 pieces of brass that progressively got worse. I contacted Bolo and did an exchange.Received the second one and this one started grinding right out of the box. However, in addition to the grinding, this one got incredibly hot AND the blade moves in and out of the body of the saw. I ruined about 20 pieces of brass before realizing the length was off.I reset the jig and started cutting again.. and AGAIN.. the blade moved out from the body and wound up cutting the brass way too short.I then set the blade to cut right at the shoulder of the case and after about 10 cuts, the blade had moved out far enough that the case was too short. This is a completely garbage product. I notice that the price has increased 2 or 3 times in the last week and I can only assume that's because of the number of returns they're receiving.Again, do not buy this unless you're a fan of wasting your time and your brass.
3.0 out of 5 stars Could Be Better Shape
The saw itself will serve my purposes. Product arrived fast but there's a lot of deep scratches in the plastic and there's also a crack in the plastic, not something you want to see in a power tool. Intended use is for small pieces of wood in crafting projects so I'm going to keep it and think it will be fine. It's really small so it won't take up any space at all but when you turn it on it sounds like it has plenty of power. Hopefully I will have no more waiting all day for my husband to get home from work to say would you cut this little piece of wood for me I'll be able to do it myself. I think this little saw would be perfect for any woman that does any kind of crafting where she has to cut small things but yet great for a man too that just quickly wants to cut a little small piece of wood and not have to drag out a big table saw. It could be in better shape without the scratches and the crack I wouldn't want to buy it as a gift for somebody for that reason but for my own personal use yes it will be satisfactory.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great customer service. Good product too.
Unfortunately my original order was dead on arrival. My email was answered almost immediately. I received a replacement within a week & a prepaid return label. This is ooutstanding customer service! The saw is excellent for cutting cam for my stained glass projects & I'm sure I will be able to use it for cutting dowels & other small pieces for my woodworking.
Saw performs well on light items
I have used the saw and while it did cut thin aluminum. It is not designed for that application. I spoke with Jonathon and he is going to change the description to better advise his customer of the saws capabilities. Jon is a stand up vendor and our discussion was educational for both. Thanks Jonathon you are a first class business.
