5.0 out of 5 stars Fine quality and excellent value
I purchased a set of four Messermeister Avanta Fine Edge Steak Knives From Bolo LLC two weeks ago. We have enjoyed using these stainless steel knives twice with top sirloin steaks. I ordered the straight edge knives with the black POM (polyoxymethylene) handles. I prefer straight edge to serrated edge for steak knives and don't mind sharpening knives when they need it. I have used black POM handled kitchen knives for many years and like this food grade synthetic for it's long lasting good looks and durability. I hand wash all of our good knives regardless of handle material type.Messermeister knives have been popular for decades, especially their line of kitchen knives. These steak knives are hammer forged German steel. From what I read these are made in China. Regardless of brand name most steak knives priced under $30 apiece will be Chinese made. The Messermeister Avanta quality is very good. These knives have a nice weight and feel. We will have no problem setting out these fine knives for our guests. Fitting of the black POM scales (black handle material) to the full length tang is precise. I can't feel any sharp edges on these joins: the fitting is barely felt on the fingertips. The three rivets are also smoothly surfaced to the scales. The knives arrived very sharp. The tips are quite sharp so consider blunt tipped knives for small children. The Messermeisters cut top sirloin beef like a dream. The knife butt is what you see when the knives are at home in a block. We block them upside down to prevent cutting the wood. There is enough hand finish detail that each butt has a slightly individual look so the knives appear hand finished when lined up in a block. We like these knives so much I ordered a second set this evening. I considered the first set of four a deal at $13.75 per knife. This evening I found the price reduced to $9.64 per knife, which is a steal! Packaging is nothing fancy, just a tough clear plastic tray and enclosure. We are delighted with the quality and design of these Messermeister Avanta steak knives and expect to receive many years of use from them. I'll post an update to this review as a reply two months down the road.
5.0 out of 5 stars Get These Steak Knives!
All I can say is GET THESE STEAK KNIVES! Yeah, they are THAT GOOD!I've been researching knives for about 2 weeks now. I'm in the process of replacing an older set of pretty decent knives that have simply gotten abused over the 30 years my wife and I have had them. Steak knives were just part of what we were replacing (upgrading) and I wanted the best knives I could buy for the lowest investment, a happy balance was my goal. I've watched over 50 YouTube videos from reviewers on everything from Chef Knives to Santoku Knives to Steak Knives and after reading hundreds of reviews on Bolo.com and professional chefs web pages I finally narrowed my search down to these.I first ordered the black handled version of these, Messermeister Avanta 4-Piece Fine Edge Steak Knife Set because they simply matched the Zelete brand knives I was upgrading to. Once I received them and took them out of the package I realized how impressive the craftsmanship was and the quality of the knives themselves. Very nice! The only issue was...I love wood grain and simply couldn't get it out of my head that I wanted the Pakkawood handled version of these. So I used Bolo.com's amazing return service and exchanged them.Craftsmanship: The black polymer handled version of these knives was flawless, perfectly fitting rivets, and just impressive to hold and would impress any guests you may have over for dinner. The Pakkawood handled version of these is simply STUNNINGLY beautiful! The wood grain, color and feel of the pakkawood is just impressive. The ONLY difference in the two is the wood handled version doesn't fit as perfectly to the knife as the polymer handles do. It's extremely minor, and something I probably wouldn't have even noticed if I hadn't purchased and felt the polymer version first. It's so minor that I wouldn't even think about reducing the rating from 5 Stars....these knives are simply that outstanding looking and the craftsmanship is just incredible. Oh, and they cut great...what a bonus! So check out the pictures of these, which doesn't do them justice as they are just stunning in person! If you are looking to upgrade your steak knives you simply can't go wrong with these......HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp and look nice
I have an icon Wustoff block and collection of knives. These match well, work for guests to cut steak and are a much better price. I’ve bough a couple sets of these now and would buy again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Giftable and very nice looking
I had these knives on my wish list for awhile. Finally ordered them. They are very nice looking. And VERY sharp. I got several complements on them at a dinner party. I have no issues with the rivets on the handle, the handles are smooth and a nice weight and size. These would make a lovely gift. So happy I made this purchase, highly recommend.
Excellent Quality
Looks good. Knives are sharp and excellent for steaks
Super knives
Top quality. Very sharp.
Best value straight-edged steak knives!
If you are in the market for steak knives, then you know most straight-edged steak knife sets usually go for $100-300+ dollars.Pros:+ Straight-edges!!! Cheap serrated blades tear into meat and can't be re-sharpened. They usually have to be tossed when they get dull.+ Great value/price! Try and find another straight edge set that even comes close to the quality and looks.+ Great looking comfortable pakkawood handles+ Full-tang construction+ Good weightCons- The edges are a little inconsistent but can be easily fixed with a sharpening stone
EXCELENTE ACABADO Y EL CORTE DE LA NAVAJA ES MUY FIN
SE VEN MEJOR FISICAMENTE QUE EN FOTO
