5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for switching from PC to Mac
I've been using the docking station for about a week, and it is working really well. I have two monitors (DP ports), a keyboard and drawing tablet (USB), ethernet, and speakers all plugged in. I switch between using a HP laptop for work during the day and my personal macbook in the evening. Everything works great. The docking station can get a little warm sometimes but not enough to be an actual issue. Highly recommend.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works!
It looks great! Only issue I have is upon waking my MacBook up from sleep it automatically mirrors both external displays. So I have to unplug the cable and it does back to extended
5.0 out of 5 stars Works great w/XPS 13, 2K Monitor, GB Ethernet and Power Delivery
Solid Construction. Both HDMI and DisplayPort work well with my 2K monitor at 60 Hz. GB speeds over the network. PD also works great.
5.0 out of 5 stars You need Thunderbolt 3 for your Mac machines!
We are an IT shop with a large base of Windows laptops. This dock was for our first Mac installation. Works perfectly for us.Lessons learned for people in the same Windows-centric environments:1. You need Thunderbolt 3 for multiple monitor work. That is, you could use a cheap USB C dock and it would certainly run multiple monitors but they will all MIRROR each other. There is NO way to extend the desktop across multiple monitors over USB C. Only Thunderbolt 3 will allow this. It's expensive but it works.2. You need adapterless DisplayPort connections from the dock to your monitors. Anything you put in the way, like a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, will mean you will NOT be able to extend desktop and all your monitors will MIRROR each other.Given this dock and two DisplayPort cables, setup is a breeze and works perfectly out of the box.
1.0 out of 5 stars A dock with only one charging port and it is on the front
Super dodgy driver support for MacOs, though this might be due to Mojave; the main reason I am giving this one star is that it only provides only one USB-C charging port, and it is on the front! This makes it super awkward to mount this thing on a desk.
2.0 out of 5 stars Nice product; Needs better documentation
The product itself is really nice, small and sleek. However, it did not work as expected my Macbook 13" (2018 model). The device was still running Mac OS Mojave and my setup required working with 2 additional monitors. The advertisement claimed this would work. However, the cables I used - Display Port to HDMI and Display Port to DVI perhaps did not work. The documentation failed to mention that you need "active" cables. Apparently there is a different standard. Long story short -- called customer service -- They were nice. Did the typical troubleshooting - reboot device, reboot computer, switched cables -- did not work for a single monitor. Had to send it back. Ended up buying a different brand and it worked out of the box.
1.0 out of 5 stars I wish I would of never bought this thing.
The thing the made me want to buy this was the ease of promise of plug and play. Well I can tell you that is furthest thing from the truth. I am extremely disappointed at the black monitors that I am looking at while I have this plugged in, and that Kensington has no customer service available to help me fix this issue. I will know now to leave Kensington alone, as the stress they give me is worth than any little device they have can give me in helping me. So without further to do, do not waste your money on items that are DOA, and find another brand to buy from. It will save a couple of years on your life from the stress they cause.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works great with Dell laptop and Dell monitor where Dell Display link did not.
Replaced a Dell Display Link docking station with this product because the Display link was unable to display the external monitor. This product was a simple plug and play. I use external monitor, CAT5, External Video, Keyboard and Mouse along with eternal drive. All parts function flawlessly.
