5.0 out of 5 stars It worked flawlessly!
I read the 1- star reviews so I was a bit apprehensive but I ordered it anyway. The Subaru Crosstrek's drain bolt was compromised so I needed an oil extractor pump. The provided plastic tube running down the dipstick hole easily fit. I was careful to only insert it until I felt it "bottom". I played around with this part a bit because if I kept pushing it in I was afraid it would start to coil. I was able to insert the entire length of the hose in but again, I played with this until I felt it bottomed out. I flicked the switch and it immediately started to pump the oil out. The 4.7 quarts took about 2-3 minutes to evacuate. When it looked like it was sucking air, I moved the tube a bit and I was able to extract a bit more oil. The other end went into an empty oil jug and I could see it extracted just about 4.7 quarts or maybe a bit less. Such a clean way to accomplish a dirty job. When I was done, I let the 2 hoses dangle overnight to allow any residual oil to drain.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works. Ignore the bad reviews
Bought this when I decided to use an oil extractor to do my car oil changes as it was the fastest, cleanest, and easiest method of performing oil changes. It was also the first time I’ve ever done any sort of car maintenance myself so I didn’t even know how to use the worm gear clamps. Despite that, I was still able to successfully clamp the tube using a blue towel and my hand to perform 4 oil changes. The pump has no signs of durability or performance issues and paid for itself after the first oil change. Definitely look into similar pumps that are cheaper than this, I saw one that was $15 and they’re all from china so it’s all the same. But this WORKS. Even without me knowing how to clamp it down.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good for what it is; how to fix it
I bought this pump for oil changes on a jet ski. I used to remove oil on two jet skis and it worked great. I then used it to suck water out of the bilge, and it stopped working. I'd put dish soap in the bilge water to help remove oil and grease. What I figured out later is that when I used the pump on the soapy water, the soapy water removed the grease from inside of the pump too. When I finished the project above, I took the pump apart. No lube. There is metal on metal contact plus a gasket seal that needs to be air tight. I figured it must need to be lubed. So I packed the moving copper plates, the top of the round wheel, and the inside of the metal cover and put it back together. Good as new.So, if you us it remove oil, you are fine. If you use it to remove anything that will remove the lube (i.e., soapy water, gasoline, etc.),, it will quickly fail but you can fix it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use
Did a great job to get oil out of my golf cart engine which takes a quart of oil. I know for sure sense I put it in a marked container and was exactly 1 quart. Did this to make sure it got at least most of the old oil. Would recommend this product does a great job.
3.0 out of 5 stars Way too slow
The pump works, but is so incredibly slow as to make it impractical. I threw it away. My Briggsand Stratton manual oil extractor works much better than this pump.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works
It works great for me. Changed oil after a drive to the gym since it says it should be warm. Did have to put in the dip stick area , would not work by putting in cap area where you fill.
5.0 out of 5 stars Noisy but works great
Changed the oil on my Ram Promaster 3.6 and although noisy it did a great job. Measured out the thin tube that goes down the dipstick tube based on videos I watched. Towards the end I moved the tube up and down and found smaller pockets. No oil left in the pan at all. Kind of slow which is expected. About 15 minutes start to finish. Easy clean up with no mess. Well worth the money compared to the larger units around 65.00 and up. When it dies I will purchase another one. I have 4 vehicles so if it lasts to do all 4 I am happy. It was 75 here today and I did not warm the motor up and the oil did flow smoothly. Colder climate would need warm oil to work
3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
I got this unit to help change the oil in my boat. Since you can't get under the engine to drain the oil, pulling oil out of the dipstick tube is pretty much the only way to replace it. I had a manual device previously but it would not get good suction. I had a couple of issues with this unit. First, the inlet tube could be a little longer. I probably had about3-4 inches to spare once it was all the way down the dipstick tube. It made it hard to find a place to set the device while running. The second problem was that the power cord is a little short. I made it work but having another 2-3 ft of cord would have made it easier for me to attach to the battery and place the pump near the engine (which it has to be since the inlet tube is short). The biggest issue was that it was slow to pump oil out of the engine. I did start the engines and warm up the oil to help it flow better, but the pump just could not pump fast enough. It took 25-40 mins per engine to clear the oil. And the unit got very hot after running that long. I even took a couple breaks while pumping to let it cool off a bit. It's a plastic housing so I was worried about melting.Granted, the device was inexpensive and it did get the job done, but I certainly would like it to pump a little faster so I don't have to run it quite as long.
Engine oil must be at recommended temperature range.
Easy to use and very effective.
It’s easy to use
I am so happy to get this for oil change! Changing oil done in 5 minutes!
Flow rate is only .5L/min
The item description claims 1.0L/min, but the actual product claims on the box states half of that.
Doesn’t work… extremely slow!
Can’t contact seller. Please send me a replacement. There is no seller contact info…. Leaves me no choice but to leave a bad review in hopes of getting ahold of them.Didn’t use until a month after the return window closed so I’m stuck with this. Will delete review if you send replacement. Thanks.
