5.0 out of 5 stars Needs A Bigger Water Receptacle, Water Viewport Should be in Front
DELICIOUS HOT ☕☕☕☕☕This little coffee maker is almost perfect. It makes good, hot coffee fast. I don't use the timer so I can't comment on that. The pitcher works fine. I think Hamilton Beach only has a couple of things to consider further with this one, which aren't really that big a deal for me so far. To address these things in a model update would make it even nicer. It needs a bigger water receptacle; the inside of the water chamber at the top where the water is poured is made in such a way that the water has to be added slowly enough so none will spill out over the sides while you're pouring it in - a minor inconvenience for me in a small coffee maker (I only make 1 or 2 cups at a time). If you have unsteady hands it could be a bigger problem for you, especially if you make a full pot every time. Hamilton Beach would have to make the opening big enough so water for 5 cups could easily be poured in with little overflow risk. The graduated water viewport would be better and easier to see if it was in front and not on the side, and made of clear plastic. It's awkward to pour the water and then have to crane your neck or turn the coffee maker to make sure you've got the right amount of water inside. The coffee maker is designed small enough to fit conveniently under kitchen cabinets and to have the water view in front makes more sense. Also with the port in front, it's a quick reminder if you like to set up your coffee maker the night before, that you already have water in. If the coffee maker was a little wider I think they'd have enough room to place a nice clear viewer in the front of a newer model - I personally have eyesight issues.Overall I really like this coffee maker. It performs very well and makes coffee very fast. I have a reusable filter basket for it I purchased separately on Bolo which fits perfectly, is durable and works fine, and is not expensive (search for 4 Cup Reusable Filter Basket by BRENSTEN, on Bolo; you can buy just one if you want).I'd tell anyone it's a good coffee maker but would explain that it still isn't perfect, but close.
5.0 out of 5 stars Compact size
Provides a quick and "hot" good cup of coffee. Takes up very little counter space. I like that it fills from the front so it can stay under the cabinet. Heating element stays on long enough so you can finish the pot without having to reheat. I bought this coffee maker to be used while my regular and much more expensive machine was sent back for repairs. Even though original machine has been repaired I continue to use this one. No difference of coffee taste between the two. Only caveat is that it only brews 5 cups. Not good for a crowd. Only one or two people. Also you can't beat the price.
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little coffee maker
It’s a great size for one or two people. Fits easily under my counter and front access to the water well and coffee basket are convenient. The only problem is that even when I use the smaller size filters, they have a tendency to fold over during brewing and I got grounds in my coffee. I fixed that by cutting one side of the filters a little and facing the shorter side toward the back of the basket.
5.0 out of 5 stars Cute ,works, as described
This replaces my Mr Coffee due to age. All I need is a 4/5 cup which is difficult to find. It is little smaller in size and lighter carafe . Perfect for my needs and takes up very little space. Programming is not complicated and gives choice of regular or stronger brew if you are having a sleepy AM and also quiet when brewing. Water fill is in front unlike the previous one. That is nice since I don’t have to keep turning pot around to fill. Came on time in the original factory box . I would buy again especially bcuz price was reasonable. I also wanted one that was programmable time wise .
3.0 out of 5 stars Some pros and cons but it drips all over the counter when pouring
This is a decent little coffee maker. Coffee quality is going to be as good as the ground beans you use. I bought this to replace the Mr. Coffee mini pot I had for years - but the design was changed so I wanted to look for something else. I came across this maker and it seemed to be a good deal. It was right in the price range I was looking for.I don't really like that the grounds compartment swings out to the left side. The only place I can keep this on my counter is next to a wall (on the left) so I have to bring it out away from the wall every morning so I can fill the filter. I do like that it takes paper filters. We have a septic and I don't want to have to worry about the grounds going down the drain. The paper filters, with used grounds, go right into the compost. So that's a plus. Also the only place you can see how full the water is, is on the right side. Not terrible but I wish it was a little easier to read. I do like that the water is top loading and easy to add. You do have to add it slowly though so it has time to funnel down in to the base.It is fast! It brews coffee faster than my Mr. Coffee machine. That was a pleasant surprise. My biggest beef with this however is that EVERY single morning when I pour my coffee into my mug, it drips on the counter. Every. Single. Time. I have tried pouring slowly. I have tried pouring quickly. Every time I end up with coffee on my counter that I have to wipe up. It is very annoying. I am not sure if it is the lid or the shape of the pot but I cannot seem to pour it without making a mess.UPDATE on pouring... OK so after a couple weeks of pouring coffee and dripping all over the counter, I have learned that if you use your thumb to lift up the lid just an inch or so before you pour, it doesn't spill everywhere. Annoying but hey, I'm not wiping the same spot of the counter every time I pour a cup. Sometimes, on the second pour, condensation will drip off the lid when you lift it to pour - so just lift it and let it fall down to knock off the extra water then pour as described and you should be good!! I figured I would include this bit of info in case other people were having the same problem I was having.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use!
Coffee stays hot, love the tray that opens up to put coffee in. Perfect for small apts. The only drawback is where you put the water, you have to be careful, very small.
Broke after Second Use
Product is rubbish, broke on second day. I don't know if it's normal but it was clicking loudly on first day, the pump perhaps. I haven't heard one make that noise before. Now control panel comes on but it does nothing. It's going in the trash, waste of money.
Makes decent coffee
I just need four and a half cups in the morning to fill my Yeti so this is perfect. Set it up at night and night and it brews it for you fresh in the morning. Perfect for busy days
Died after one year
1.2 year update: it's leaking everywhere out of the reservoir. It's basically trashed and just past the one year warranty. Seems others have had this issue (look at one star reviews). Bummer! It was good while it lasted but not worh it if it only lasts a year or so1 year update - still great. The enamel on the hot plate is wearing off as they often do, but other than that it still works perfectly.6 month update: Still working great, while making ~3 brews of coffee a day, every day!I purchased this after a Mr. Coffee machine died after less than 1 year of ownership.Pros:Auto shut offcompact sizeeasy fill water lidWell engineered removable coffee basket (pulls right off a strong hinge for emptying - genius)Coffee basket can actually be filled with grinds for 5 cups (max pot size) without overflowingNo leakage when pouring from potinexpensiveCons:None!Highly recommended.
Makes a good cup of coffee
Very pleased just the right sizeWorks perfectly I’m happy
Perfect bachelor coffee maker
This thing is programmable, meaning you can set it to have coffee ready for you when you wake up. What more could you want? Someone to wake up next to? Come on, this thing makes 5 imperial cups of coffee! That’s 2 actual cups of coffee! Are you telling me you can function off of just one cup of coffee? Finally met someone and this doesn’t make enough coffee anymore? You can abandon this beautiful piece of machinery and get a bigger one, or you can get it a partner too!
