I must admit, I used to put cocoa in everything. My oatmeal, my coffee, everything I baked. When my body started to disagree with that, I decided to give it a break. Maybe it was the heavy metals that are so prevalent in chocolate lately. So I welcomed carob into my home and I'm not looking back.Not only did this stuff seem to alleviate my digestive issues, it actually has its own sweetness that replaces much of the sweetener that recipes call for. So it goes in my oatmeal, and my coffee, and, well, anything that could taste better with a chocolate-y flavor. Many people say it doesn't taste like chocolate, and it doesn't. Chocolate tastes like chocolate. Carob tastes like carob. It's perhaps an acquired flavor, but it was a fast switch for me.Everything I buy from Anthony's has been top quality, fresh and a really good value for the price.

I have tried several brands of carob powder (including Chatfield's, Now, Missy J's, Anthony's) and I prefer Anthony's. I only wish it were available in local stores which is why I went looking for alternatives but had to come back to ordering Anthony's from Bolo.It has a deep dark brown color and strong taste. Tastes almost like cocoa powder and combines well with any fluid that has some fat in it such as Oatley's full fat oat milk (NOT their low fat variety). Unlike a full cocoa beverage, a carob beverage (or a mixture of carob and cocoa) allows you to decrease the amount of sugar used because the carob powder has some inherent sweetness.I also like the packaging: easy to open and close without getting a face full of brown dust.Moreover, stays fresh in my cupboard for a few months; I don't really know how long it would stay fresh since I use it almost every day.You can use it alone with oat milk for caffeine-free Vegan beverage. After some experimenting, I prefer to combine my carob powder with cocoa powder, maltodextrin-free coconut milk powder and piping hot oat milk for a satiating hot chocolate (cooled to drinking temperature with some lactose-free milk) . With the latter and an apple for breakfast, I am often not hungry for 3-4 hours, depending on how much I exercised that morning.

Since I have acid reflux I can’t eat chocolate anymore. So I tried carob chips. I didn’t like them very much so I thought I will get carob powder and make my own chocolate.I have to say it came out just delicious!It tastes so good I couldn’t stop eating my carob chocolate. This carob powder is high quality and I highly recommend it!

It's good. The flavor isn't quite as rich and intense as I remember. I think that carob at its peak flavor has to be picked and air-dried a bit, but not too much, to retain the most flavor. It's tricky. I'm just glad I can get organic carob. I used to pick it off the trees that grew on the UC San Diego campus, on my way to the new library, when the University was very young. And I really miss Haagen Das Carob ice cream. So now, maybe I'll just make my own.

The taste is great, just had a tablespoon in hot water, milk, and erythritol. It has a nutty, earthy, Tiny bit of a powdery taste, but I don't mind at all. It's not the kind to bother my throat. I'm having this as a replacement for cocoa powder in my morning drinks. I'll probably bake with it in the future as well.Heads up: I'm ordering from Canada and it has been relabeled with a significant nutritional reduction. It would be nice if they would reflect that in the photos. I get enough of those vitamins from other sources so I don't find the change to be lacking or anything.
