I'm not a lighting expert and just use this ring light for attending classes remotely. It works great for that, and it is inexpensive. My light stopped working after about 6 months and I contacted the company by e-mail and they quickly responded AND mailed me a whole new ring light - all I asked for was the BULB. That's some great customer service. I think maybe the issue was that the brick I was using was one of those small square Apple bricks - upon inspection it is 5V/1 amp, and they clearly recommended 5V/2 amp - I think I wasn't providing enough power to the light. Now I need to find a 5V/2 amp brick to plug the USB end of the provided cable into. Happy customer.

UPDATE TO REVIEW: It started out great but now the switch to turn on the light no longer works. With only a few months of occasional use, I am disappointed in this product.What was originally written:Great light. The base is kind of big, but good because the light won’t tip over. The base is a little awkward if you are placing the light on a desk. Lighting is very nice on camera. I’m still trying to figure out how to connect the phone attachment-the instructions are a bit vague for me. It’s very easy to extend the light to make it higher or lower and the light can be positioned to tilt at any angle which is nice. Overall, a nice light and good price for what you get.

1. SHORT USB - The only con (that isn't even enough for me to take off a star) is that the USB cord isn't very long. I can't measure it this second but I'd guesstimate it's 6-8 ft? So it's not super versatile if you're trying to move it around, but I'm sure some combination of a USB wall charger + extension cord or a USB extender can work. If you're just wanting this for streaming or video calls, this won't be an issue.2. GREAT LIGHTING - I was skeptical about the quality, but this really is a great light for the price, especially if you're starting with nothing, lol. It is light and plastic and doesn't feel expensive or anything, but the lighting itself is awesome. The range of dim to bright is great, and while I can't imagine ever using the cool light setting, I do appreciate those options, too. I don't have anything to compare this to, but I'm happier with this that I thought I would be!3. SUPERIOR CAMERA PLACEMENT - I did some research on ring lights before buying this because it feels like a big thing, and I learned that the lights that put your camera directly in the middle of the light are doing this wrong. That's what creates that annoying ring of light in your eyes. I went with this one because the phone attachment is below the light, which is where everyone who knows what they're talking about says it should be, and it's perfect. No ring of light, no squinting. It's only just above my face, so it also doesn't create any weird shadows or anything. I don't understand why so many lights sell with the phone attachment in the middle of the light?? I guess people think this is how they work, but it isn't! Anyway, this one does have an attachment in the middle of it if you decide you want that, but the phone holder it comes with doesn't attach, so you'd have to buy your own separately. But the option is there.4. FREE PHONE CAMERA REMOTE - I didn't realize that this came with its own phone camera remote! It does say in the description it comes with a shutter remote, I guess I didn't realize what that was. I bought my own separately but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the one that came with the light.
3.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, but the power button randomly stopped working.
I really liked how light this was, easy to move, to adjust. However, the botton to turn it on is super cheap. It randomly went out and when I went to turn it on it kept turning off right away and wouldn't stay on. The light would flash, it would show power, but it wouldn't turn back on. After a while I stopped trying. I unplugged it for months. Thought I'd give it one more go before I tossed it in the trash since it was beyond the return time. It worked! Only for about a week more, then it did the some thing. I was afraid to take it apart as there was no way to look inside and see without breaking it open and I don't want a light I have to spend more time in fixing then it cost to buy.
