5.0 out of 5 stars Why this one?
For years I had wanted to need one of those way cool induction cook tops. Now finally, there was a need, but when I read the 1s and 2s reviews, this was the no-brainer choice for me. The complaints were that the induction cook tops only have @ 3.5" heating surface, and I needed to be able to cook my 2 eggs over easy just right. This has over 5" of heat coil, tried and true technology, and does the job nicely. Plus, the price is incredible, and it heats and cools quickly. The thing they conveniently forget to tell you about the induction cook top is that as the pot heats on it, the pot heats the glass surface as well, so it becomes very hot. My experience is that glass holds its heat. When is someone likely to be accidentally burned? Before putting on the pot or after taking it off? One need only remember to turn on the heat after putting on the pot in order to be adequately safe. The knob turns easily, so one must get into the habit of checking it is off before plugging the unit in.
5.0 out of 5 stars Well built hot plate.
As long as directions regarding where it is placed are followed, this device works very well. I currently am staying in a motel and use it to make meals.
4.0 out of 5 stars So far seems good
Did what it needed to - plugged in and heated quickly. At the highest dial setting ( settings are not marked it's a dial that turns from off to high) but at high setting it quickly boiled water. The burner size seems sufficient and it seems level. I plan to use it only when traveling to hotels without full kitchens so it won't get regular use. The materials feel cheap and lightweight (light weight is a plus for travel) but I fear it might be a reflection of quality and longevity so time will tell.
5.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, meets our need
when we moved into a basement apartment with only a wet bar (tiny sink and mini fridge), this was a must so we could still make my husband's oatmeal in the morning. the 1000w burner does the job perfectly! it cools down quick after use and stows away in small places if needed. the temp control doesnt have numbers or "hi/lo", but it's pretty no-nonsense.
1.0 out of 5 stars Edit: time out >:(
EDIT - 1Star!Bought and didn’t use until the end of Sept- understand this is for a paraplegic with kitchenette. 1) it has come on when bit in use and 2) has stopped working.Original rating:This year has been tough as my brother had hip replacement surgery, unrelated - became paralyzed and is now in a wheelchair. Having independence is CRITICAL for someone paralyzed! Kitchens are not designed for a person in a wheelchair which makes everyday tasks much more complex. My brother - thankfully- lives with my mother (who needs someone there with her) but lives independently in a separate level of the house. He wanted to expand his culinary skills beyond microwave, air fryer and griddle. THIS has provided a SIMPLE JOY! He now can cook foods he had previously missed. The burner is portable, appears to have solid weight, easy to use and easy to store. Very glad we made the purchase - even if it is for old fashion Mac and Cheese.
3.0 out of 5 stars It’s okay
It’s was okay but you couldn’t really control the heat it was on or off and you can’t lift the element to clean under it. It eventually broke at the element solder to the wires and I just didn’t bother the resolver it
5.0 out of 5 stars Super for traveling or for an extra burner at home
I love these things. You have an extra burner at home or a clean and simple option while you’re traveling. It’s just like the burner on an electric stove. Love it!
5.0 out of 5 stars Gets hott , Boils Water
Bought to use in my van off my generator because as it's hard to find the butane canisters for my butane stove. It gets hot fairly quickly and will boil or heat anything hott !!
Very good product.
Very useful as a side burner when you need to cook a lot of stuff at the same time.
Went bust at first use
Item went bust on first use, stove plates broke after heating for a few minutes. Could not return as would cost over $200 AUD to send back, seller unresponsive to Aus return label request.
Items Aren't Always The Same As How They Appear in Pictures
After we received our Proctor Silex Electric Single Burner Cooktop from UPS, my wife took one look at it and then put it back into the box. It was not what she envisioned at all. For starters, she thought she would be getting something a little bigger; something with more coil. Then, there was the price. In her mind, it was way too pricey for what she was paying for. This led her to shop around for something more ideal and eventually she found it, at Canadian Tire.
Reliable Seller
This product was not suitable, l did return it and the seller refunded my money. I was happy with their quick response
Works well - but Jackery users beware
If you are looking for a sub-1000W burner, this is not what you are looking for. It runs a solid 1100-1200W constantly, regardless of temperature knob. It does work with my 1000W inverter but it does not go below 1000, so battery backup friends, just know it won't work with, say, an 850W inverter probably.
