5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent mouse and more!

The Logitech M510 wireless mouse is a very comfortable and smoothly performing mouse. It is a full size mouse that nicely fills up the palm of the hand. The weight of the mouse is "just right". The mouse body is symmetrical so that will be equally comfortable for left or right handed people. The mouse movement and scroll wheel work perfectly smoothly with no jump or jitter. The mouse optical performance is very robust on poor surfaces. It works equally well on a mousepad, a bare table, on a pants leg, back of a book, even the palm of the hand. It tracks perfectly on almost any surface (which many other mouse brands have trouble with). These mice use the Logitech "Unifying" USB mini receiver which can support up to six Logitech devices by itself. If you have a Logitech mouse, keyboard, trackball, etc... they can all operate from the same receiver (saves using up USB ports). Be aware that the unifying receiver ONLY works with Logitech products and that it is NOT Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Logitech products can be "paired" with the unifying receiver in Windows and MAC (of course) and also in Linux by using the software package called "solaar" (free, open source). The mouse comes pre-paired to the receiver, so it works "out of the box". If you want to add (up to 5 more devices), you have to pair them yourself. The battery life is awesome. Because I hate leaking batteries, I always use AA lithium cells for everything (including the mouse). My first old Logitech MS-510 mouse that I purchased over three years ago is still working fine on the FIRST batteries that I installed in it (two AA lithium). Since I use it on my desktop the mouse power switch is always left on. It must consume practically no power when not being used.If you use the mouse with a laptop or need to move it from computer to computer, the little unifying receiver can be stored inside the mouse (in a little USB sized slot next to the batteries) to avoid losing it.What follows is some technical information that you can skip if you don't care.Construction: This mouse is very nicely engineered and can be completely disassembled by removing two little screws inside the battery compartment. No screws hide under the teflon slider pads, so those don't get damaged if you take the mouse apart. Every component then can be removed simply by sliding or snapping it out. Why take it apart? See next.My personal feeling is that the left and right mouse buttons are too light (i.e. press too easily). The buttons are no lighter than other mice, I just prefer them a bit tighter. To change this, I replace the two little microswitches with Omron Series D2F-01 parts that have a 150 gf actuation force. It takes about twice the pressure to click these switches as compared to the originals. To replace them is super simple: Just unsolder the originals and solder the new ones in place. If you forget which way they go in, the orientation is printed on the PC board. The side "scroll" buttons already use heavier pressure microswitches, so I don't change these. The "middle button" (pressing the scroll wheel) and the left/right scroll switches (rock the scroll wheel left or right) are a different type of switch that also do not need changing. If you disassemble the mouse, be aware that the little plastic slider for the power switch will be free to fall out when the mouse PC board is removed. If you don't know this, it's possible for the slider to silently fall out, never to be seen again.I won't tell you HOW to unsolder and resolder the button microswitches, because if you don't know how, you shouldn't be doing jt in the first place (or get an electronics-knowledgable friend to help). And, of course opening and modifying the mouse will void the warranty!I will give you one important hint: Because the mouse was assembled using RoHS compliant lead free solder, the microswitch solder joints should first be RE-SOLDERED with leaded solder before sucking or wicking the joints clean. This is done to "alloy" the high temperature lead free solder into more manageable leaded solder to avoid burning/ruining the (single sided) PC board.Good luck! This mouse (hacked or not) gets 5 stars and both thumbs up. It works flawlessly, it's comfortable, battery life is amazing and the price is good (even better when it's sometimes on sale). Grab one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great mouse for general office work

    W. · February 29, 2024

I and several people at my workplace use this mouse, and so far have had no issues. It's a great value, and performs well on different surfaces. It's not as nice as some much more expensive models, but for the price I think it's very hard to beat. I would like a smooth free spinning mouse wheel to get through large spreadsheets faster, but other than that, I don't notice anything about the mouse daily. And that in my mind is a compliment for something that is used every day. It just works, all day every day. The battery life is insane, but I have the usb sensor plugged in very close to where the mouse sits, so that may one reason why. The bottom of the mouse has nice sized pads, so no issues with them wearing down too quickly and making it not slide. It is not heavy, but not too light either. It feels right in between the heavy and super lightweight mice I have used before. The size is like that too, right in between tiny and large mice. I'm sure the size and weight are designed to accommodate most people, and I would say it does. The forward and back buttons are easy to hit, while not being subject to accidental presses. The accuracy seems just fine for office work, but I have not used this for gaming. I do think it would probably work fine for that as well, as I can notice no lag in general use. I hope this helps

5.0 out of 5 stars Great design, works great too

I really like the design of this mouse. There are buttons on the side with easy thumb access for going forward or back to the last page with a quick click. The scrolling wheel has options as well when pushed left or right, and the mouse fits nicely in my hand. It has a rather natural feel where a smaller mouse doesn't to me. It's well built so I feel confident using it. I still feel like I'm having to chase the cursor around, so I am trying to find an ideal pad or base that it works best on.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good solid mouse at a reasonable price

My last mouse was having problems tracking….replacing batteries, resetting the usb, turning it on and off did not work.I looked online and I know the brand, I’ve had one in the past. So I took a chance and ordered it and got it the next day. it tracks very well. So far, I’ve had no problems with it.My only issue with mice that you buy is that so few have the option for either USB or USB-C. Most either direct connect or USB. So I had to buy an adapter for my USB-C dell computer. It works great with the adapter. I just wish that it came with a USB-C adapter.I will update the review after a period of time to see how long the batteries last but typically mouse batteries last a long time for me. Glad I got this mouse. I definitely needed a new one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate tracking, comfortable in my hand. Long-lasting battery,.

    J. · April 26, 2024

I have used a Logitech brand mouse for several years. This one, like the others, works exactly as expected. It fits my hand comfortably, The buttons are responsive, with no need to click a button more than once - or double-click once. The tracking of the cursor seems instantaneous, but I am not a gamer, so I don't know whether this cordless mouse is accurate and fast enough for gaming. For general use, though, like spreadsheets, word processing or web surfing, it is as fast and accurate as I could want. The two AA batteries should last several months, and probably as much as a year. The last Logitech mouse I had finally died on me after several years. With only a single AA battery, it would stay charged and ready for use for nearly a whole year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice mouse

Feels good in your hand. Works great!

    Great replacement

    C. · September 26, 2024

I purchased this to replace the M310 mouse that came with my mouse/keyboard combo. Since my combo came with the Unify USB receiver I could just replace the mouse and not the entire combo.Following Logitech instructions to pair the new mouse with my USB receiver from the keyboard I had my new M510 mouse paired in a couple of minutes. It works great and is comfortable to use daily. If you need to travel with the mouse, the USB receiver docks nicely in behind the battery cover. Lets see if this mouse lasts more than 4 years of daily use.

Mouse ideal para trabajar y para jugar

I like the full size and that it remains functioning well several months after I began using it.

    Works Great!

I bought this mouse to replace an old mouse that was malfunctioning. It works very well and was so easy to set up. I find the size to be good and it fits my hand perfectly. I am not a gamer so I can't review it from that point of view. But for my situation it is ideal. It scrolls smoothly and it is very precise.

    Nice and simple computer mouse

    E. · August 10, 2023

Bought this for my gaming laptop a couple months ago and it does it’s job well. The two side buttons allow for some button mapping which admittedly is not many compared to other gaming mice that have more buttons for mapping. However if you don’t need or want that many buttons I’d recommend this mouse for its simplicity. The mouse itself is pretty comfortable and a good size. A small thing of note is that it’s a tad heavy but for me it hasn’t hindered my gaming experience. For reference i play FPS games, open world games and other games that require a good mouse and I would recommend it if you’d like a cheaper and more simple mouse. Otherwise if you’d like a lighter more sleek mouse Lenovo has other more expensive options that are highly rated.Overall this is a pretty good, decently cheap, simple gaming mouse that I would recommend if you’re going for simple and cheap.
