5.0 out of 5 stars Has helped my main a/c out tremendously
(function(){ P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function'){ A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })() This is my 3rd summer in my camper (staying on a property we purchased and building a cabin soon) and my main a/c just can't keep up despite all the measures I've taken to help it out. My son's room only has one air vent and is always the warmest room and the air is always so stagnant in there. I thought a window unit would really help our situation.Mounting a window unit in an rv window isn't the easiest task so I enlisted the help of some family members and we got it up and running in an afternoon. Thank goodness because the next day a heat wave hit us like a ton of bricks. It's not the most beautiful installation but it's a window unit what can you really expect lol.The last 2 summers the camper would be around 80 all day and my poor a/c would run constantly and freeze up. We just had a week of temps around 100 and my camper has been 72 consistently (in the living room/kitchen ... which is now the hottest room) since installing this unit. I set the main a/c on 72 and this window unit on 65 during the day. During the day its set to eco mode and at night its on auto so that the sound is consistent. I really appreciate the digital controls so that I can set it to a specific temp and not have to fiddle with guessing what temp it's set to.I bought a fan to push the cold air in his room out into the living room/kitchen and its such a relief to feel that cool breeze coming through the door. I have a 32' travel trailer with 2 slides and I don't think that this a/c could cool the entire thing by itself but it's definitely helping supplement the main a/c. They both kick off and on throughout the day instead of constantly running.A lot of the reviews said that the unit is really loud but I think it's pretty quiet for a window unit. My son is not a fan of sounds while he sleeps but he's not complained one single time, so that's saying something. My only complaint is that some of the fins were bent up during shipping somehow but it's not terrible. Overall this unit fits the bill perfectly and I think it's going to be a game changer - it already has been and I think this heat wave will be the hottest of the summer so I'm thankful it came just in time.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great small unit for tight window space
I needed a very small unit to fit into a space already created for another AC that died on me ... and this fit the bill. (I have huge old wood-frame windows in a brownstone, so having to create a new space with wood fill-in panels, etc., was not appealing.) Since we were just swapping in a new unit, I can't speak too much about installation in general, but the included accordion side panels seemed like they would work well if needed. We used some white duct tape to cover the tiny openings left around edges between AC and the wood window frame.Have only used it for one day, but it is off to a good start. It took a little while for truly cold air to come out, but once it started, it stayed nice and cool and cooled down a small living room area fairly quickly. I was not bothered by the noise that some have noted -- seemed fairly par for the course with these types of window ACs, though if you focus on it, you will notice the slight "pinging" of the water on the condenser that's noted as being "normal" in the instruction booklet. The remote is basic but does what it needs to do. The only slight annoyance for me is that the digital display shows only the set temp and not the room temp (at least in COOL mode -- might be something that can be adjusted). I have not tried ECO mode yet, since I needed to cool my room off quickly after not having a working AC for a while.Delivery was quick (2 days, sent via USPS), and unit was boxed well and arrived in good condition. The USPS driver brought it up my steep front stoop, which I was grateful for.As I said, I have only had this for one day, but so far anyway, so good.Update: On further use (and after having gotten over my initial excitement over simply having ANY working AC), I will agree that this unit is on the louder side, as far as window ACs in my experience go. Still nothing bad, though (just need to turn the TV up a few clicks), and I remain very happy with the purchase. It's working wonderfully!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good looking but loud
It is a nice compact and easy to install AC unit. The price was pretty good at the time I purchased it for the 6k unit but you can tell it is not super well made. The remote has an exceptionally cheap look/feel. I do like the hole pattern on the front of it as compared to the boring slats of most.My biggest complaint is that when the compressor turns on it is very loud for such a small air conditioner. I wish I had spent a bit more money for a quieter one.
5.0 out of 5 stars It is great.
It works great. It cools down my kitchen and the hallway. I don't have central air, and this Haier 6,000 BTU cools well and fast. I don't mind the noise. Sometimes, it makes noise for a short while when I turn it on.
3.0 out of 5 stars Super loud
Pros: love the eco mode, although it doesn’t keep the room at your designated temperature it keeps it from getting too hot without wasting energy when you’re not around. Cools effectively. Looks nice for an air conditioner that blocks your window. Remote control is nice.Cons: holy meat grinder Batman! This thing would be perfect for someone that needs to block out some sounds. Maybe someone like dexter or a serial killer? I have this in my bedroom and next year if we don’t have central air by then I’m going to replace this with another one. It’s just way too loud. Im really not trying to go to sleep to what sounds like a train coming through my back yard but yet, here we are.Overall it does its job and looks nice, but it’s just too loud. Probably would return this if the return window didn’t close.
