5.0 out of 5 stars Good gochujang, handy package
This is a 450 gram resealable twist-top pouch of gochujang, from Tzum Essen. It arrived fresh and factory sealed. I've never seen gochugang in a pouch like this, I've only seen it in a plastic tub. This is pretty convenient and easier/less messy to get out of the package and to measure. The gochujang tastes great and more or less like other brands I've had. One really nice thing about it is that it's slightly less thick and pasty than my usual brand. I was making a popular slow roasted chicken and potatoes recipe that calls for you to make a paste with gochujang and olive oil, and in the past I've had a lot of trouble getting my usual brand to mix with the oil. With this gochujang, mixing it was a breeze, and the dish turned out amazing. No complaints, no issues, this is excellent.
4.0 out of 5 stars Tasty but not that spicy
I should preface this by saying this is not going to be spicy to someone who can walk into a real Indian restaurant, order the spiciest curry they have, and enjoy it. If that's you, this isn't hot at all. I like my hot sauces to be well over 100,000 Scoville, so this is nothing to me.So, if you are hoping for burning heat, you're going to be disappointed. It is, however, quite tasty. Gochujang usually isn't extremely hot anyway. It is usually very flavorful, and this most certainly is that. You can put this stuff in anything. I put it in some red beans and rice and it made it considerably better. Just put it in whatever savory dish you are making, and you'll see what I mean. You can toss it in your pasta, or really just anything savory. You can also just look up recipes specifically for gochujang since google exists. The container is unusual for this kind of thing, but I like it. It is resealable and makes it easy to dispense. That's perfect for my style of cooking. I just toss stuff into a dish until it tastes good. That baffles my recipe obsessed wife, especially when I can reproduce a dish even when I have no idea how much of everything I put in there. If you are anything like me, you'll like experimenting with this stuff.
5.0 out of 5 stars tastes better than my usual brand, easier consistency to work with too
$8 for a 15.9oz container is about the same price as the usual stuff in a plastic box type of container, but a squeeze tube is a way more convenient way to store this. I usually buy the trader joes brand, but this stuff is definitely better. The gochujang in the box containers usually have a thick consistency that is annoying to work with. But this one has a slightly runnier consistency that makes it so much easier to put into a sauce or soup! It also tastes better too, the flavor is more noticeable since this is a bit less spicier compared to other brands. I would definitely buy this again!
3.0 out of 5 stars Okay flavor. Nice price.
This gochujang paste is okay. It's not as good as the stuff I get from the Asian grocery store, but it's acceptable. It's an okay backup for when I run out of my other. It's less expensive than what I can buy locally.Homemade is better than storebought! Maangchi has a recipe if you're curious about how to make your own.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chilli Paste
Tastes awesome, has a little kick to it nothing major, can be used for basically any dish, I like that it comes in a pouch with nozzle for east opening and closing keeping your Chilli paste fresh for the next use.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent gochujang paste
Savory gochujang with its delicious and complex flavor. Spiciness level is close to perfect, the more adventurous may want to add some additional heat but it's great for most folks. Comes in a bag with a nozzle like everything else these days. If you're not really sure what to do with gochujang, and want a dynamite and easy recipe, look for the Gochujang Buttered Noodles recipe on the NYTimes, it's a 5-star and nobody I've served it to has done anything but rave about it. This paste is perfect for it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and Spicy flavor
This is a wonderful sweet and spicy chili paste. I used it in my favorite chili recipe. It gave my chili a nice balance between sweet and spicy vs. the standard spicy flavor that I usually experience. I like that I can also add some extra of the paste to my chili if I decide I need to enhance the flavor after cooking. The 15.9 oz. package has a resealable cap.
