It is a good burner. It was well packaged and very easy to setup. It is small and compact which is also nice. I appreciate that it burns quickly. I played back what I burned and there are no skips on it. Recommended!

I never thought I’d buy a DVD player in 2024, but here we are. Why? Because my laptop decided it was too modern for a CD/DVD drive, and my medical records came on a disk. Yes, my entire health history is now playable on what feels like ancient technology.Enter this DVD player: the unsung hero of my quest for answers. Setup was hilariously simple, plug it into the TV, pop in the disk, and voilà, my cholesterol levels in 1080p! It read the disk instantly, no awkward buffering or judgment about my snack choices.Once the serious stuff was over, I tested it with some old DVDs for nostalgia. Turns out, it handles Shrek as effortlessly as it handled my MRI scans. A true multitasker!If you need a reliable, affordable device to access important files or relive the glory days of physical media, look no further. Highly recommend, especially if your medical history needs a better supporting cast.

I bought this item without any formal expertise and am completely pleased. It easily connected to my computer and worked perfectly immediately - no issues. I can now connect a mouse, USB drives, camera cards, printers, and anything else. The CD/DVD drive works well. The cabling is short so you must plan how to set up your system. I bought the case because I need to travel with it and appreciate that it is sized precisely to the drive, not adding unnecessary bulk. It is also sturdy and protective. I recommend this device to anyone needing more capabilities that their system offers.

drive basically won't function on USB port power. i have another small usb optical drive that runs on usb port power, so i don't see why this one cannot. this drive does NOT come with a power supply, and they don't tell you before you buy it that you'll need one. waste of money. terrible idea for a laptop drive.[UPDATED]So. It shouldn't BE this way, and it's a weird mystery, but here goes. What does NOT WORK (as a simple DVD READER - the reason i purchased it)What does NOT work:plugging the drive into the new Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro's FRONT USB C ports using the drive's USB C plug, will light up the drive, but when you put a DVD into the drive, it will try to read, then the light goes out and it 'dies'.What DOES WORK:Plugging THIS drive into ANY port of an otherwise un-populated NON-POWERED 7 port Yottamaster USB 3.2 HUB where the USB hub is plugged into the SAME front USB C port(s) on a Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro. This works perfectly effortlessly quickly for PLAYING back a DVD using VLC. [that's 98% of the reason i bough the drive.I also I also tried plugging the USB C part of this drive's cord into a USB C to USB A adapter and plugging it into the NON-powered USB 3.2 7 port hub in the SAME front ports and it DOES WORK. So i don't know if the weirdness of NOT being able to plug the drive's USB C connector DIRECTLY into the Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro's FRONT USB C ports is a problem in the Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro, or if it's a problem in the DRIVE. Somebody is doing something NON-STANDARD.It's very disappointing to NOT be able to get it to work correctly while plugged DIRECTLY into the Apple Mac Mini M4 Pro's front USB C ports. I was hoping to get optical drive functionality AND get a few extra ports, AND tidy of the wiring. But this puts me in a spot where i am forced to use a USB HUB.I have NOT tested any of the other functions of this drive such as the other ports.I'd love a provable explanation for where the real issue lies.

Took a gamble on this. Was pleasantly surprised that it worked great! I had a couple of OOP CDs I wanted to upload to my iTunes library and my laptop with Windows 11 doesn't have a disc drive, as most computers these days don't. Picked up this CD drive as it was only $20 and it worked. Uploads CDs without any issues. It's slow, but that's not a big issue. One disc upload of 19 tracks took about 15 minutes. Haven't tried to burn discs yet, but I doubt I'll be doing that anyway.

There was no defect with the item, I had bought a homeschool typing course for my kids which is too large of a "file" to run on this drive. After troubleshooting from it not working at first (the company sent me an incredibly helpful email to help troubleshoot if we saw any issues) I came to the conclusion that it wasn't the product or my computer connecting to it, it was unable to run the CD from the size of it. Now I could be wrong but I tried everything to get it working. Again, great product.. just didn't work for me
Great accessory
While not the ideal solution - not like when the CD/DVD drive was in-built in the laptop and saved the space - it is the second-best alternative. The external drive is actually very easy to install (just plug it into the USB slot), and so far it has worked as easily as any external drive (USB stick, memory drive, etc.). Very practical, light weight and no fuss.
