5.0 out of 5 stars Does not come with extra bag as pictured but great kid carrying backpack

We had to ditch our expensive Osprey Poco Plus bag as our daughter was getting too big. She is only 2 and weights 30 pounds but that bag was cramping her style even at a smaller size and weight. This Deuter bag easily can fit up to a 50 pound child and has lots of straps to adjust the fit. We are so happy that we can comfortably hike again with our daughter. For the price this backpack is a great value, but we had issues ordering through Bolo as every listing for it falsely advertised that it came with extra carrying case. We went through 3 orders thinking the first time it wasn't put in the packaging, the second maybe we didn't read the description correctly, and the third we were confident we ordered the correct backpack/case combo, but still struck out. Apparently this backpack used to come with an extra carrying bag, through the manufacturer, and every online seller has the stock description and images that show it, but they do not have them anymore. It was definitely a nightmare dealing with Bolo and the different merchants with exchanges and returns, but at the end of the day this kid carrying pack still is the best and most capable we could find.A- plus reviews for the actual backpack, but bad experience ordering. The only downside we can think of is lack of zipper storage There are two large sinch style pockets but we'd definitely prefer a more secure weatherproof storage option like the Osprey had.Super comfy for our daughter and just as comfortable on our backs as the osprey ever was. Its much easier to get our daughter in and out of this backpack as well. Since she likes to walk a lot on her own we are constantly taking her in and out of the pack. One side opens up and we can easily put her in while the bag is still on one of our backs. Our hiking solo the bag is sturdy enough to put on the ground and put her in. Also she feels super secure even without being strapped in and feet being out of stirrups. If we are hikingnsuper technical steep trailers we opt to strap her in, but mosy of the time it seems unnecessary. Thanks Dueter for renewing our ability to hike with our growing toddler

Great purchase and worthy investment. The first 10 miles were very comfortable. So comfortable for the kids they can’t even stay awake in it so appreciate the drool pad. I’m 6’ 260, power lifter build, it’s extremely comfortable and adjustable between me and my tiny 5’6 110lb wife. 1-2 minute exchange we do after breaks. Adjusts sooooo easy. Breathable, storage, tough, versatile. Absolutely love it.

Super comfortable to wear plenty of room for storage but not easy to travel with takes up a lot of room when trying to bring to new locations

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this child carrier!

I'm really enjoying this child carrier backpack! I've used Osprey packs in the past but decided to shop around before buying a child carrier and I'm really glad I did. In my research, I discovered the Deuter brand. The reviews for Deuter packs were excellent and their marketing was appealing, so I gave it a try. It's a purchase I'm glad that I made.I have four children and have had four child carriers over the years and this carrier is by far the best I've had. It is excellent quality and the design is comfortable for me and my child. Some of my favorite features are the integrated sunroof, child stirrups, grab handle, adjustment straps that are placed nicely and work great, the mesh back system (keeps my back from overheating), a soft pillow for child‘s head, the locking kickstand, and the integrated mirror to be able to see the child (I use the mirror to check on my little one all the time, it's simple and wonderful!). I purchased the blue pack and the color is nice.I was hesitant to spend this much on a pack, especially for my last child, but I'm glad that I did; it's well worth it. I usually pass on my baby gear to friends, but I plan to keep this pack in the family and my next hiking pack will be a Deuter pack.

4.0 out of 5 stars So many bells and whistles...It takes a Pro to figure out!

I bought this pack because I wanted to be able to hike solo with my younger kiddo and dog. I had been hiking with a carrier on my back and diaper bag on the front, but it's bulky and unloading and reloading baby is kind of a pain, plus had no where to set him if I took him off me. So the storage on this bad boy really sold me. We also have an REI pack that can accommodate up to 60lbs of kid (this model tops out at 40) but has zero bells and whistles and no storage. So I was curious to see how the Deuter compared.1. ADULT FITSo first off, I've done a bunch of backpacking and know how to fit a pack properly, and I still struggled with this! In addition to the standard adjustments, there are seemingly a zillion extra straps and hooks on this thing. And despite that, getting a good fit is still really difficult!I'm 5'6" and on the very smallest adjustment, this pack is still just a bit too long on my torso. Typically the weight of a pack should rest on your hips, but that's hard to do with this pack if you're under 5'8. That said, I carried my 40lb kiddo for a flat mile and it was still fairly comfortable with everything cinched up as tightly as possible.2. KID FITIt is also really difficult to adjust for babies beyond a year. I bought this for carrying my 21lb 1 year-old, knowing he would nap in it. With the seat extended as long as absolutely possible, his chin hits perfectly at the top of the chin rest (where it should be). But after he grows a few inches, he'll bee too tall. So the seat strap CAN be adjusted to account a longer kid but clearly it's not supposed to be. It's a weird system, and it will work for us now but I'm surprised it's not more adjustable. That said, it is super comfy for baby and my kid knocked out and stayed asleep a while in this thing. There's stirrups, which are a great idea for super cold weather (baby feet are difficult to keep warm, even more so when little legs dangle and circulation slows) but the material is super slippery and baby's feet just slip out so they're pretty useless. You can remove them though.3. HIP POCKETS!!The hip pockets are large enough to fit a cell phone! And there's 2 of them. I hate digging around for keys, chapstick, phone, poop bags so this is a HUGE selling point for me!4. HYDRATION COMPATIBLEYes, there is a hydration sleeve but for some reason it is not mentioned on any of the written marketing materials. There is a long zipper in the space between the adult and child and you slip the bladder in. It fit my 3L bladder fine, although the child is sort of straddling the bladder so not sure how that would play out with a bigger kid. This is also a huge selling point unless you are Gumby and can easily reach behind you to grab your water bottle - and REPLACE it. I am not Gumby. The sun roof and super soft chin pad are definitely pluses too. We did a test hike in a light rain and baby stayed pretty dry, including his legs as they were mostly covered by the roof. For the price, I think a rain cover should be included, but we'll probably put kiddo in waterproof pants or rain suit so it's not a big deal. All in all, I like this pack but I wish it was more adjustable to fit someone under 5'8'. If you are not familiar with how to fit a pack, definitely check out a YouTube video. If you feel off balance or your back hurts, you would probably benefit from some additional adjustments! Definitely plan on spending a good half-hour+ figuring out the fit and getting you and kiddo adjusted properly. We did three practice hikes and I'm still adjusting. Deuter would also benefit by having better marketing materials and consumer info on how to properly fit the back, what all the extra hoops, loops, and straps are for, the location of the hydration sleeve, etc.
