5.0 out of 5 stars 600 year old craftsmanship shines through
This cast iron wok is perfect! The size is great, the weight is impressive and the quality is top notch. I look forward to preparing many meals with this! I purchased it as a companion piece for my camping kitchen and I’m certain it will last many generations!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great and beautiful iron wok
It a classic Chinese iron wok, with a flat bottom and right depth. The small flat bottom is good for seasoning. The 32cm, 12.8 inch is perfect for 2-4 people dishes, meat or veggies. I
5.0 out of 5 stars light weight and work well with induction
Good cast iron wok, light weight and easy to maintain, glad bought this one.
5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy and heats evenly
Seasoned it and put it to use for the first time tonight. I am very happy with the performance. It heated up quickly and evenly. Made a fried rice with shrimp and it turned out marvelously. I will be using this a lot in the days ahead. Highly recommend.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works great on GE induction, good value overall, stupid handles
I got the large wok with the two side handles. It is about 14.2 inches, as described.I bought this to use on my GE induction cooktop to replace an older flat-bottom wok that wasn't actually flat. This one isn't perfectly flat but it's very close, and some of my other pans that work well on induction are worse. It heats evenly and doesn't spin around, so it's clearly making enough contact with the cooktop. The wok comes with a lot of packaging and extras, including a nice lid and a carrying bag.I had to wash the wok several times with an aggressive sponge and dish soap to get all the protective oil off it. It also appears to have some kind of preseasoning like a Lodge skillet underneath the protective oil.The string wrapped around the handles is a bad idea. It is pretty gross when it is wet, and there is no easy way to dry it, so rust will probably form on the handles. It's also probably not safe to put in the oven. I just removed it. The handles under the string have sharp edges. I may take a look at what some sandpaper will do there. On the plus side, they are part of the work and will never get loose.Since I removed the string from the handles, and the wok is entirely metal, I seasoned it in the oven. It is difficult to fully season the entire surface of a wok without a gas stove, because the sides never get hot enough. For the first seasoning I always season the outside, including the handles, to prevent rust.Overall I'd say this is pricey compared to the kind of works I used to get in Chinatown and not a lot better made, but the bottom is actually flat enough for induction and it comes with a lot of extras.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful wok!
I love this wok. Been in the market for one for a while. I settled on cast iron vs steel because of the heat retention. It is easy to clean, easy to season and I expect it to last forever. This is a quality Chinese product and I am very happy with it. The lid is great too! Don’t be afraid of the weight of this wok. It is heavy and some may find it difficult to toss food in it. Most won’t, but I can see how weight can be a negative. I love it.
3.0 out of 5 stars Suitable for stewing, not very convenient for cooking
This is heavier than I thought, and it's not easy to tip over. It's very important to open the pot. I didn't do it well, so after cleaning, the water was not dried up, so it was easier to rust.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect wok!
I love this wok!It is heavy enough to hold the heat, cook quickly and everything comes out perfect! Handles are part of the cast iron component, not attached after the fact with bolts.I highly recommend this pan! The lid is a wonderful add on bonusThe packaging gives this wok the perfect gift aspect. It comes with a historical booklet, a scrubby sponge and a microfiber cloth . lid and wok come in separate nice bags as well.
10/10 Recommended
I absolutely love my new cast-iron wok! It’s heavy-duty and of great quality. The packaging had an amazing ancient-chinese vibe given their roots, and I really adore that. They also provided a guide/manual on how to take care of the wok, and first steps before using it. It additionally comes with a wooden lid, wooden handle, a scrub, and a cloth.I’ve heard that it’s important and advised to cook atleast 1 of your daily meals in a cast-iron vessel, so I would for sure recommend this one. Worth every buck! Thank you to the sellers for giving me one hell of a great experience!
It's beautiful
This wok is boss. It's big it's solid and it's beautiful. It really is an heirloom peoce for a foodie family. It will outlast me. The packaging is also 👌 beautiful. Favorite wok of my life. The handles also never hot enough to burn with the natural wrapping. I was a bit skeptical but it's fine. Make sure to oil your new baby to build up the non stick coating. No soap please just scrub hot water.
Superb craftmanship
This wok is made of cast iron that is remarkably thin and light. I also love the wooden lid and overall design. The protective layer of iron mixed with carbon and minerals on its surface makes for the right amount of 'non-stickiness', so frying is a breeze now. That said, the English-language brochure that comes with the wok could be more informative. I had to do my own research to figure out what materials it's made of and how I can use it.
Absolute Quality
This really is the best Wok that I have ever owned, yes a little heavier than other Woks, its Cast Iron, built for a lifetime. With the seasoning that is put on at the factory, which is needed, this takes a bit more than washing it in cold water. Needs hot water, an SOS Pad, and some soap to remove the heavy oil from the surface. Its not a big deal, but absolutely needed. Then heat the Wok, not too hot, add the oil, turn off the heat and wait for 4 hours. Wipe it out and Wok and Roll, get it, the first thing I made in it was Fried Rice, nothing stuck, to the pan, some of the best Fried Rice I have ever made. And I have been cooking with Cast Iron Pans for over 50 yrs. If you like to make the best Chinese Food for your loved ones, then this is the Wok you would want to use. I highly recommend this Seller and the Brand of product.
Great!
