5.0 out of 5 stars Aqueon MiniBow Aquarium still going strong after 3 years
I purchased MiniBow, 2.5 gal in 2021. It also comes in 1 & 5 gal, so make sure you order the correct size. In 3 years I have had 3 Betta fish, only 1 was caught near the filter. I average about 1 Betta a year before they die, due to me or life? The bowl is acrylic, and it still looks new, no scratches, so be careful how you clean. The black rim stand is plastic and holds the bowl very well. It's the water weight that makes it durable. I have a small heater and only use solid deco stones. I noticed the painted stones start peeling and make the water look dirty. Last month after cleaning the filter stopped working. I called Aqueon to see if I could just replace the filter. The rep asked if I had cleaned the fan, nope, didn't know there was a fan. He waited patiently & explained the filter could be disassembled to access the fan. He gave me directions and I found the fan and it was filthy. I cleaned the fan and filter has been running great for a few days. Time to get another Betta. I suggest if you have issues call Aqueon, the rep (sorry no name) was very helpful and patient. I hope this review helps. After 3 years I recommend the Aqueon MiniBow Aquarium for a small fish. Oh, the small hole at the top of tank is where I drop the food, instead of lifting the lid, never had a Betta jump out.

Eta: customer immediately sent a replacement. No charge, no hassle. Very happy with that response.I was excited to receive my fish tank. After I got it set up I noticed it was dripping. Thankfully I had not moved my fish in yet because I had to lift the tank off the base to find the corner cracked. The box it arrived in did not appear damaged in anyway but there was not much padding in it even if it had been dropped. The "special packaging" might mean it was dropped before it was shipped. My pump did not extend out to the side to drain I had to turn it to to drain it from the back, not a huge deal but it's kind of heavy and I was prepared to drain it from the side. I had purchased live plants for my beta since I had the room and the drain.. I was so excited. It did look nice, however, I didn't even get to putting the lid on and lighting it all up before draining it back out.

I mostly love this little fish tank, a perfect size for my one little goldfish. It was easy to set up and the light is very bright. The concept of the built in siphon to change water was a good one, but in reality it doesn't work so well. The horizontal part of the tube that sucks the water out is too short so it barely clears the side of the tank and I ended up with water down the side of the tank or having to lift the entire filter/siphon assembly up and tilt it to get it to clear the side of the tank. It was far easier to just buy a separate fish tank siphon. I love everything else about it.

I ordered this as a smaller fish tank that would fit on my end table and not take up to much room. The first one was missing the lid but Bolo quickly made that right. The size is perfect and I love this filter. I know it will make cleaning a breeze when the time comes and the idea is brilliant. The tank is plastic and feels cheep as it is really light weight but it looks fantastic all together and everything works as it should. It just sits on the base but once the tank is full its secure and really looks nice. The top is not solid as there is a handle hole and stuff can get in your tank that way but this doesn't bother me at all. The back side of the top has an open slot to allow cords to come through so you can add heaters or bubble makers and stuff without problems. Its very quiet. You can barely hear a humm sound if you listen close and water doesn't splash loud. The light is bright enough to see the tank at night without being so bright you couldn't use this in a bedroom if you don't mind some light at night. It has an on off switch made into the cord to easily turn the light on and off. Beware of putting any rocks or things that are to heavy as I would think it would break the tank. I covered the bottom with rocks and it held this amount fine but I wont be adding any thing else but light weight plants. I think this is a great little setup for what you pay for this. I highly recommend. This would be a great tank for a kids room or for someone like me with not enough space for a big tank. I'll post more pics once I complete setup.***I just wanted to add how impressed I am with this filter. It isn't so strong it bothers my beta fish and I had a weird thing happen and it got real cloudy once plants were added to my tank and within 24 hours this filter cleaned it all up nicely. Still thinking this was a great buy.
Plastic Fish aquarium
The plastic fish aquarium arrived in a timely manner and was competitively priced but it was severely cracked upon arrival so it had to be returned. My granddaughter was very disappointed as the aquarium is small and cute.
