5.0 out of 5 stars Great value
I bought this after listening to the review by Randy of the CheapAudioMan Youtube channel. He spoke highly of this amp, and I found his conclusions to be accurate.I bought this to use in my garage. I wanted a simple amp that didn't take up much space. In my garage, it's gonna get dusty...and it's going to have to compete with power tools, air filter, etc. That's not the place for mult-thousand dollar amps!!About the rated power...you have to be realistic. I know this amp says it's 600W, but it's not. Not in any practical sense, anyway. And none of the other cheap class D amps are going to be, either. The difference is that more expensive amps stay clean at or near their rated power. These cheap amps don't. They start to introduce distortion well before they get to their max power...That's not to say it's not a stout little amp...it is! But you can't compare this to a $2K+ amplifier with a rated output of a couple hundred wats, and think they're going to be equivalent! To put it in terms most folks can relate to, I'd say this amp will drive speakers to about the same level as a typical mid-level class AB receiver in the 50-70 watts per channel range. Beyond those levels, you start getting distortion that you can hear, and that can damage speakers. But that's shouldn't really discourage you...with moderately sensitive speakers, 50-70 watts is pretty darn loud!In my case, I used this amp to drive a pair of Klipsch KG2.2 speakers that I bought a while back on Ebay. KG 2.2 speakers have a sensitivity of 93db. That's a little bit higher than average, and this amp drives those speakers to very high volumes! If your speakers are less sensitive, the volume will be lower, which is the case no matter what amplifier you're using! If you're using this amp in a bedroom or small office, it's probably gonna be loud enough with any speakers you have. But if you're driving 87db speakers in an 800 square foot room, it's probably not going to get very loud. If you like to shake the walls and anger your neighbors, keep that in mind. One of the categories mentioned above is volume control, so I'll mention it. On this amp are three controls...volume, bass and treble. They all work great. Smooth controls, no static, and the tone controls add just the right amount of cut or boost to the bass and treble respectively. In my case, I set the tone controls the way I wanted them, and I put the volume control to about 75-80%, and I just leave the amp on 24/7. In normal use, I connect to the WIIM mini streamer using the app on my phone, and I control the volume that way. This works great, and gives me remote control over the volume. For the price, this thing is a steal! In fact, I'm going to buy another one, which I plan to use to power the outdoor speakers on my patio. Currently they're being driven by a very cheap JVC receiver left behind by the previous owners of my home, and I am confident this amp will do a better job than the JVC is currently doing!
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to like.
This amp is nice and compact with very clear sound. It has some heft that adds to the perception of quality. I’ve tried with several different speakers, everything from Planners to large PA cabinets with horns and 12 inch woofers. Great little amp even with the included power supply, just don’t go crazy with the volume or it will fart out. Has not run hot and the tone knobs make it versatile going from one speaker type to the next. I would say this little amp is a new tool in my box, pleasant and a value.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good powerful little audio amp … does what it says … mostly
This is a great compact little stereo amp. It’s well built with simple front panel controls comprising a power switch, Volume, Bass & Treble controls. Back panel has stereo RCA inputs, combo screw and banana type outputs for speaker wires and an input for the included external power supply which could be either 32v or 48v depending on whichever option picked when ordering.Sound wise it’s subjectively quite good on the usual music program material into my JR149 speakers and sub. A little background hiss but nothing really annoying. So far operating well at normal indoor listening volumes ie: plenty loud enough. Now a little technical stuff. This is a Class D amp with differential speaker outputs. That means for normal operation each speaker pair must be completely isolated. Also the black negative terminals cannot be connected together or grounded under any circumstances. Doing so will destroy the amp. Bridging the left and right outputs for more power cannot be done either.Next can this amp could actually deliver 115W into 8 ohm or 230W into 4 ohm per channel as advertised. Using an sig gen at 1Khz, output resistive loads of 8 and then 4 ohms into a differentially connect scope I was able to observe over 100v peak to peak in each case just before clipping. Great I thought, 100W and 200W RMS as advertised ! However after about 4 seconds in each case, the amp thermal protection cut in and turned the amp off. Fortunately disconnecting the power supply and letting the amp cool down restored normal operation. While doing the power tests I noticed that there was a lot of high frequency switching noise due to the Sigma/Delta PDM operation of the Class D amp. This was mainly above 20KHz so mostly inaudible but did account for the low level hiss I noticed earlier. In conclusion therefore a great value little amplifier with plenty of headroom for loud music passages. As most modern music has peaks of about 10dB above mean level, using 4 ohm speakers and the 48v PSU will allow listening to program material at 20W mean power per channel without clipping distortion. This is really very loud clean music for most venues. However cranking the volume so that all the program material clips at 200W per channel and distorts heavily will just cause the amp to shut down temporarily, much to the relief for your guests and neighbors. Operated sensibly, this amp should provide many years of listening pleasure. Recommended !
5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Price for a Great Product
It arrived very quickly and was well packed. The box it comes in is super well packed (bullet proof). This thing is incredibly well made and great quality. It is dead silent with no signal and has power for days.I got it for my personal studio and couldn't be happier with the performance. It does come with a lower voltage power supply and the is a higher voltage supply available the difference is roughly from 160 watts or so a channel to about 300 watts a channel with the higher voltage supply. I'm not trying to damage my hearing or annoy my neighbors and the supplied supply will drive it to relatively deafening levels. Oh yeah...
Excelente compra!
