5.0 out of 5 stars not the pinnacle of lock engineering
Picked up these SafiSwords Waterproof Padlocks for outdoor use, fully aware that at roughly $4 each, I wasn’t exactly buying the Fort Knox of padlocks. But here's the thing: they're doing their job pretty well. Designed to deter the opportunistic thief rather than a determined burglar, they offer a decent level of security for the price. These locks are covering a plastic storage situation for me, where shelling out for a high-end lock would have been overkill. They've held up to the task, staying secure and requiring a bit more than just a casual effort to cut through. Essentially, they keep the honest people honest and make the dishonest work a bit harder, which is all I needed.Quality-wise, you get what you pay for. They're not the pinnacle of lock engineering, but they're more than serviceable for low to medium security needs. As long as they can withstand being outdoors without freezing up or refusing to unlock, I'll be happy. Consider this a placeholder for a future update—or not. If you don't hear from me bemoaning their failure a year down the line, take it as a silent nod of approval that they’ve weathered the elements and earned their keep. So, for anyone needing a budget-friendly solution for securing items that don't require Fort Knox-level protection, these SafiSwords Padlocks are a solid choice. Affordable, functional, and so far, durable. I’ll reserve my right to a scathing review if they let me down in the durability department, but for now, they’re holding steady at 5 stars in my book.
5.0 out of 5 stars LOCKS WITHOUT KEY!
I put that in the subject because nowhere in the description or anywhere else mentions it so this shoud help others. The locks are very heavy duty feeling for what they are and they lock very well. Using for my lawn care setup to keep my trimmers and edgers locked on my racks. Now when I need to get a trimmer, I simply use the key to crack it open and I can put the key up. When I get it out, I simpily snap it back in and it locks. No key needed to lock. I had those dumb locks that requires the key to lock and not only that, the stupid key is stuck in there until you lock it!, defies the purpose of a lock!... NOT THESE!!!!! I'm gonna give those other ones to the garbage.Get these because they work. A litle trick is you can put a touch of air tool lube in or baby oil or even veg oil inside the lock which keeps it lubed if you use it outside. No it won't grab the dirt and keep it and all that jazz. It also helps protect the internals from weathering and galvanizing. Been using that method for years and it's never let me down. I just needed better locks that match for all three racks and were better than the crap I had. Get these, you will be glad you did.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good product.
Good product, the lock is excellent quality and all keys works for all locks as well as there are plenty of keys if needed for others. The rubber sleeve/gasket does not fit into the standard hole of the lock not sure if it is just my lock purchased from HomeDepot. Have to take off then slide into the hole then put rubber sleeve/gasket on. I have used 3 locks but one of the buttom covers after closing keep coming lose.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
Wish I would have gotten more. One key for all the locks comes in handy.
3.0 out of 5 stars Ok Lock
Bought these to help the local youth soccer league out. Took one of the locks off the gate for the first time after being put on (1mth) and there was rust in where the hook latches to the lock. The rubber coating is all still intact and when the lock was put on, the rubber end was even put back on to protect the opening of the lock. When I went to put the lock back on, it wouldn't catch to lock. So far that was only 1 out of the 6 but have to check and see how the other ones are doing.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works great
These locks work great.I like the protective rubber that slips on/off to keep water from leaking inside of the locking mechanism as well as the rubber cover to close off the key hole to keep it from rusting from the weather elements. Will purchase more of these if I ever need more that the quantity I've originally purchased.
1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Lock
This lock rusted shut and needed to be cut off in 2 months. Just terrible construction and a lie that it’s “water proof.” If I could give zero stars I would as this lock is not meant for outdoors
5.0 out of 5 stars 6 keyed a like
rubber coated. high qualitycame with way too many keys. 12. :-)high quality locks
Padlocks, multi set 1 key
With the coating on the lock, it will not go through to secure the door. I need to drill the hole bigger. Solid lock with cover over the key entry
1 key
All my gates and storage bins use the same key, no more hunting for the right key.
