About this item:
Philips Avent Natural Response nipple lets baby control the pace of the milk, like they do when breastfeeding. The nipples' unique opening and tip only releases milk when your baby actively drinks. When pausing to swallow and breathe no milk flows. Baby can drink, swallow, and breathe using their natural rhythm, just like they do when breastfeeding. Easily combine breast and bottle feeding with a wide breast-shaped nipple with a soft feel that mimics the shape and feel of a breast; plus baby controlling the flow of milk. The nipple has a no-drip design which helps prevent lost milk from the tip. An anti-colic valve integrated into the nipple is designed to reduce colic and discomfort by sending air away from your baby's tummy. The Natural response nipples come in flow rates 1-5, to keep up with your baby's growth. Use Philips Avent Natural bottles only with Philips Avent Natural nipples. Includes: 4 Natural Response nipples, flow 3. SCY963/04 What to expect when introducing the Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple It is totally natural for your baby to take 2-3 tries to get milk flowing from a new bottle. Unlike traditional bottles the Natural bottle is designed to only release milk when your baby is actively drinking, like what happens when babies breastfeed. We have 5 different nipple flow rates for the Natural bottle. When looking for the right nipple flow rate, age is a guide, but your baby's approach to drinking and the feeding cues they will show will help determine when to move to a higher or lower nipple flow rate.

5.0 out of 5 stars New model works for us
I was hesitant to buy this after all the bad reviews about Avent's new nipple model, but we're a few months away from being done with bottles and I didn't want to invest in a whole new bottle set. So after a lot of research, I decided to just give it a try.Short: The new model works better for us than the old model. Don't let the bad reviews scare you into buying a whole new bottle set.Old nipples: I used the same Avent bottles and old nipple style with our last baby, who was EBF for many months. When it came time to transition to bottles, they were comfortable at the (old) 2 level, even though that said it's for a much younger age. BUT the nipple that was supposed to be for their age (old 4) was WAY too fast. Transitioning to 3 and then 4 was not easy or natural. I feel like this matters because I wanted to prepare them for drinking from cups with a faster flow.New nipples: This baby was also EBF for many months. Attempted to transition them to the faster nipple style (old 4 which we still had) but again, flow was way too fast. I needed to buy more of the medium range but, the only thing available for purchase was this new model. Didn't want to invest in a new set of bottles so tried it and it's so much better. Baby naturally moved between breast and bottle and is at the appropriate nipple level for age (new 5), which isn't true for the older model. They're able to get through bigger bottles in a normal amount of time. We've tried sippy cups so far and they've been fine. The reviews on Bolo and Target were so bad that I thought I'd have to get all new bottles but I'm really glad I tried these. For our baby transitioning from EBF, they work a lot better than the old model.
5.0 out of 5 stars Only ones I use
I love the durability and leak resistance these have. They definitely serve their function. Great value for money!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product Perfect for Growing Babies – Just Watch the Vent!!
We’ve been using these nipples with our Avent glass bottles since my baby was a newborn, and they’ve been great! At 4 months, we recently switched to the Flow 4 nipples as she was starting to get a bit fussy with the Flow 3. The transition has been smooth, and she seems much happier with the faster flow. One tip: make sure to check the little vent inside the nipple before each use. Occasionally, it can get stuck together, which affects the venting and flow. A quick run of your fingers over it usually does the trick. Overall, highly recommend, just keep an eye on the vent!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Nipples
We had to switch nipples on our Phillips Advent bottles. These nipples work great. No leaks or issues. Good price on Bolo too. Nipples are thick and feel well made.
5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as described
Avent is my preferred bottle brand and these nipple replacements were exactly as I needed. They are durable, a good price, and the flow is just what I needed for my newborn. Does not leak easily!
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect fit
We have two different sizes of Phillips Avent bottles. The smaller (4oz) bottles came with size 1 nipples and the larger (9oz) bottles came with size 3 nipples. We were using the size 2 nipples for a while and these fit both the 4oz and 9 oz bottles perfectly. Love that they are meant to mimic breastfeeding and liquid only comes out when baby sucks. This means they don’t leak if they are tipped over, etc.
5.0 out of 5 stars The best
Best nipples ! They don’t leak at all. Easy to clean. It has a really good flow to it. They last a long time too. Will buy again.
4.0 out of 5 stars No-drip is my favorite feature. Confusing/inconsistent flow rating system
I recently wrote a review for the Philips Avent Natural bottles. For many reasons. this has become my favorite bottle system. My baby is very comfortable with these nipples, though I delayed using these until he was 8 weeks old because he had a lot of problems with gas and colic as a newborn, so I used the Philips Avent Anti-Colic bottles instead. After reading more about these Natural bottles, I learned that they have an "anti-colic valve" in the nipple, which is just the little vent hole that the air escapes through. You can hear and see the air (bubbles) moving every time the baby sucks. Do I really think it's as effective as the designated anti-colic bottle? Probably not. I do think my baby swallows significantly more air with these, which I believe has caused trapped air bubbles, which have resulted in a couple incidents of projectile vomiting since switching to these bottles. But we are just more likely to give him a good burp mid-feed. Other than that, he hasn't been noticeably more gassy. These natural flow nipples are definitely my favorite aspect of the Natural bottles. They are no-drip nipples, so they don't flow unless the baby is sucking. This eliminates the need for paced bottle feeding, and you can feed the baby in more positions (but unlike the Philips Avent Anti-Colic bottles, these are not the best for upright feeding, because the nipple will not fill with milk/formula when you get down to the last ounce or so). Baby needs to be reclined to get every last drop. Otherwise, I am a fan of all that, since paced feeding is extra work and my baby would sometimes choke on MAM and Dr. Brown's bottles regardless of the nipple flow. Now I can't stress this enough. Double check what flow level you should be using with Natural Flow nipples based on your baby's age. Follow their cues, of course, to determine if you need to go up or down a flow level, but just be aware that Philips has a totally different flow rating scale between their different bottle systems. This is a major gripe of mine because it did cause me a week of frustration where my baby was not eating well when I transitioned to these bottles, and it took me way too long to figure out that the nipple flow level was the issue. Well, my baby was 9 weeks at the time and using a #2 Natural Flow nipple. I was coming from Philips Avent Anti-Colic bottles, where flow 2 nipples = 1m+. Well apparently, Natural Flow nipple #2 is only 0m+, so my baby was working way too hard to eat and getting tired/fussy at the bottle before even eating 2 oz. I have since upgraded him to the flow 3 nipples which are suitable for 1m+, and he is eating normally now.Overall very pleased with my baby's feeding experience since switching to these exclusively, but deducting one star for more air and confusing/inconsistent flow rating scale.
