5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent little pump
This is a terrific little pump, especially considering how inexpensive it is. It comes with two sets of tubing, a pair of gloves, and four hose clamps, which comprise a nice value added. I have used it thus far to remove the engine oil from a Promaster van, along with about half the ATF in the same van. In a Miata MX5, it left about a quart of engine oil in the oil pan, so not a great job there. It works quickly and efficiently, taking about 5 minutes to drain 5 quarts of oil. You want the engine oil warm, but not too hot. The manual gives a specific temp range for use. I found the suction tube is rigid enough to function well, but pliable enough to be easy to handle. I bought this to replace a Mityvac MV7201, which costs 5 times as much, and was a big disappointment. I don't know how long this will last, but first impressions are excellent. One gripe, which is minor, is that it is a bit noisy when pumping. But it's doing the job, and running the electric motor makes some noise. I can live with that. One additional feature, that should be obvious, but is still worth saying, is that you can put your used oil directly from the sump through the pump and directly into a recycling jug. A couple of suggestions I have from the get go - keep the caps for the pump, so that after use, the pump stays lubricated, and oil doesn't leak out. And find something - caps, corks, etc. to plug the ends of the tubes, so that no residual oil drips out when you're not using it. Bottom line: excellent little pump that can make oil changes and automatic transmission maintenance much easier.
5.0 out of 5 stars Made short work of doing a transmission fluid exchange
This is a huge time saver doing a quick transmission fluid exchange in my ‘14 Silverado. The pump works great, but two issues I had. The cord to the power clips had to be separated with a knife to lengthen the distance between the clips so I could attach them to my battery. The second issue. The kit comes with 4 tubes, a larger diameter softer hose and a smaller diameter hose with adapter to fit the larger hose.I found I couldn’t insert the larger hose all the way down my dipstick tube. So I used the smaller diameter hose to get it down to the pan, and attached it to the larger tube. What I found was when the pump was turned on, the larger hose collapsed under the suction and really slowed the process down. It was still working, but was taking a long time extracting a gallon of fluid. The fix for this is to use the harder smaller diameter hose in the dipstick tube, then cut maybe a 6-8” piece(or for your application), and use the included hose adapter to fit the smaller tube to the larger tube that fits on the pump. This helped tremendously.Aside from that, which isn’t the actual pumps fault it is a great must have item for making routine maintence a breeze. Even if you plan on dropping the pan and changing filter, you’ll want this pump to avoid the inevitable fluid spillage when dropping the pan. Would highly recommend this to any DYI’er
4.0 out of 5 stars Noisy, slow but did the job; not fully
TL;DR: Noisy, but works. On my SLK about 700ml (about 0.75 quart) oil was left in the pan, and this left over was the dirtiest part of the oil; not. The fault of the pump. Did normal drain for the rest, much less painful than draining the whole 9 quarts of pil.Storing is a bit painful. They should have given a polythene bag/zip-locker at least. There is no way to cap the dipstick pipe. I reused the motorl seal for the other end.Clips are a bit loose for where I connected it.Will upgrade the review based on durability. If it last 4-5 changes, that's good enough for me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Saves you hundreds of dollars.
This pump is great to have because I had you change the fluids in my car, especially the CVT transmission. It is also very easy to use for changing your power steering fluid. All you have to do is use a container that has measurements and whatever fluids come out. You just replace the exact same amount. You can also use the pump for other jobs not necessarily for your vehicle. And, for durability and works great. No issues. It's worth the price.
5.0 out of 5 stars Need Jumper 12 volt battery
Used to change oil in two tractors and a log splitter. Works well.
3.0 out of 5 stars SLOW to pump!
This is my third purchase of this style pump! One failed, completely after only 3 uses. This is a made in China product, and I would consider it to be marginal at best.It took more than 12 minutes to pump out 7 qts from my MB E-350.The cheap pump price, and my old age, drives my use of this.MB dealer gets nearly $200 for an oil change.I paid $22 for this pump, plus $51 for European synthetic oil and OEM (top of engine) filter.I saved nearly $150.Even if the pump only works once,.......I am WAY ahead of the game!
5.0 out of 5 stars Worked perfectly
Worked perfectly to drain my oil through its dipstick tube. Came with all the needed accessories and was easy to set up and clean up / put back in the box for next time
4.0 out of 5 stars worked very well.
got one weeks ago, did two times of extracting transmission oil. The parts seems cheap , not solid, but it did work very well, extracting oil out fast, you get what you pay. Hope it can last and complete many times of oil extraction in future.
Pésimo producto
The media could not be loaded. Muy mal producto, solo funciono una sola vez y ya no funciona, los cables muy mal soldados en los caimanes muy delgados, no lo recomiendo.
100w!!
Just reserved it and Nothing proves the protection is 100w compared to the older one I have which I think it's important cuz I've seen the exact one with different w. So I don't know if I have the right one 🙂
Poor quality and not good box.
