5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive 4K camera - it does work with ONVIF compliant NVRs
I selected this camera (model: GK2385I) because I was in need of an add-on 4K (8MP) ONVIF compliant camera for connection to my old PoE NVR and replacement of my older IP cameras. Because my old NVR and the new Vikylin camera are different manufacturers and have different features/technologies, I know that my NVR will not be able to display/use all the features out of the camera. So, I can only provide camera feedback based on an ONVIF compliant NVR, and not with a fully supported NVR.First, this is a very solid/sturdy camera case. It protects the camera very well from weather/rain. It uses PoE, thus you don't need a separate power supply.I connected the camera to my NVR. From the NVR, I just did a rescan and set the camera ID/password, The camera showed up immediately on the NVR.BTW: I also connected my Windows laptop to the same NVR. This allows me to communicate directly with the camera via the camera's IP address. I just use a web browser to bring up the camera's GUI.By doing this, I can see all the settings/properties of the camera - kinda like a backdoor if you can't see all the camera settings from the NVR.Also, In order to see every camera settings via the browser, you need to use Microsoft Internet Explorer and then install the plugin.Note: The camera defaults to a 192.x.y.z address. My NVR uses a 172.x.y.z network. The NVR automatically resets the camera address to 172.x.y.z. You can see that in the VKTool and in the NVR camera properties.Once the camera was up/running, it's now a matter of seeing what camera features/settings are displayed and working with the NVR.I setup motion detection, but for some reason, motion was not being detected. After experimenting a bit, I was able to get motion detection to work by disabling the camera's "intelligent detect" feature. Note: This feature is not displayed in the NVR.You have to use the web browser and connect directly to the camera's IP address in order to disable the "Intelligent Detection" feature. If your NVR does not display certain camera features, just view/modify them directly from the camera settings (via Web Browser)Here are some examples of advanced features that do work after enabling then via the camera web browser (not my old NVR):- Intelligent Detect (ID):Have to disable motion detection to make this work. This feature is great. It practically eliminates false alarms by only detecting objects (i.e. cars, humans, bikes). However, one thing that I noticed about this feature is that the object has to be within 25 feet. The camera never detected me/cars outside this range. There is a "day sensitivity" setting, but this really had no effect on detecting objects that are further out. Anyways, when a person it detected a green rectangular outline is placed around the person. This rectangle shows up on the live image and the playback recording on the NVR.- Day / Night Mode (several options that I don't see in my old NVR):The camera settings allow you to switch between day/night mode via a schedule, manually set, or automatically (sensor). There is additional granularity on how much dark/light there is when the night vision turns on/off. In other words, you don't want the night vision to turn on/off to early/late.In addition, when night vision turns on, you can manually/automatically adjust the LED brightness. These are really important LED control settings. Great options from the camera.Note: The camera's sensors are excellent. The camera works very well in very low light conditions. Even when it is getting dark, the camera can filter out that "darkness" and show a clear color image WITHOUT the night vision LEDs. Very impressive.I set my night vision LEDs to come on only when it is super dark. Also, night vision can see up to 100 feet depending on the angle you have your camera installed at.On image quality, the 4K video is crystal clear during daytime. Camera only supports up to 20FPS (main stream) which is fine, but 25 would have been better. At night time, with night vision enabled, images are extremely clear. The two night vision LEDs do an excellent job at "lighting" up the area.In addition, with motion detection (and "Intelligent Detection"), objects are easily detected during day/night mode. What I like about the motion detection options are the sensitivity and thresholds that you can set for both day/night to increase detection and also minimize false alarms. Works great. Finally, there are numerous settings to adjust the image, such as brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, WDR, day/night shutter and image flip).Overall, I really like this Vikylin 4K camera. Works well with my ONVIF compliant PoE NVR. It is an excellent and reliable camera that is feature rich with image and alarm customization. I have experimented quite a bit to get the best settings/image.I will eventually purchase a fully supported NVR to easily utilize all the Vikylin camera features. For the quality and features you get with this 4K camera, the cost is very reasonable. You really can't go wrong with this camera. Now that I know that this camera works to my needs, I plan to purchase additional.
4.0 out of 5 stars Revised review. Not bad for the price
The camera itself does work well. Great Picture quality and mic quality. However, the reliability of it is lacking. I've had one fail after a short period of operation and recently replaced it. Will see how it does.
5.0 out of 5 stars 180 degree security camera
Fantastic wide view at H/D quality as a day and night camera this exceeds my expectations and the POE feature makes this a 1st choice camera from a TopNotch seller.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with third parties technology.
Customers support fro the manufacturers suck.
5.0 out of 5 stars The definition is good, and the night vision is satisfactory.
This product is compatible with my original monitoring system, so I only bought one. After installation, I feel better than the camera definition and night vision effect I used before. Whether it can work stably or not, it will take half a year to know the result.
1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Night Vision I Have Ever Seen
Not worth buying. Camera works in the day, but absolutely no night IR. Probably the worst I have seen. I bought 16 of these and all will need to be replaced. There is no way all 16 are bad.
4.0 out of 5 stars No reset button
When I messed up the address, I had to use a program that pings a large range before I could login and reset it. Other brands have a factory reset button which would have restored access.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works well and no issues with the setuo
Bought this camera to be part of a HiKvision NVR. Was simple to set up and provides good quality pictures.
