5.0 out of 5 stars Stronger than it looks
When I opened the box I was quite concerned about how thin the individual pieces were. I thought that it would not hold up to my needs but it is standing up perfectly!2 notes:1) I had to use a nail file to file down the edges of the drawer front in order for it to fit into the opening.2) The way it screws together is odd. The screws don't insert into holes, they insert into cutouts in the wood. I didn't trust the screws to stay centered in those slat-type opening so I covered both exposed side of every screw with some craft glue from my mini glue gun.. please see picture.
1.0 out of 5 stars Updated: STINKS and Teeny Tiny!
Updated 7/2023: This whole thing stinks SO bad!! I thought it was the cardboard and plastic packaging. But NO! It’s the organizer itself. My husband made me take it outside to air out and here it sits, 3 days later, still as fishy smelling as ever. My daughter gagged and said, “Yuck! Fish!” It may end up in the trash. What a shame.Original Review: I guess it turned out as pictured, however, pay attention to scale. This thing is SMALL! In the bottom right of the listing photo it shows a phone, and a small organizer with pens, white-out, and a glue stick. Very misleading and those items must have been shrunken in Photoshop because a phone could never fit and neither could all those other things. It was a bit of a hassle to assemble with super small instruction photos and I had to redo it toward the end because one board at the beginning was backward and the slots wouldn’t line up. I’m also not a fan of the exposed screws visible in the finished product. It was cheap and I got what I paid for. Lesson learned.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not terrible - a bit flimsy
Honest review - the product DOES look exactly like the picture. I did have a few problems with it. I have some sensory issues and when I took it out of the box I was immediately hit with a smell. I honestly thought one of my cats pooped. The smell did fade though. It was also pretty dusty. Here are some pros and consPros:- It IS cute.- It is relatively easy to put together- It has lots of space for pens and stuffCons:- There were parts where the wood cracked a bit trying to fit it in the hole- The screws show- The drawer part is very small- It smells?- It’s kind of small so you can’t fit muchIt also came with two extra pieces, bunny and H. Not sure what they’re used for, they aren’t listed on the instructions. So, yeah. Trash? Maybe I’ll glue the bunny looking piece to the side and paint it? Who knows.Overall, it is cute, but honestly it’s not big enough to store much other than pens. I’m going to give it a good dusting in the morning. I’ll update again in a month and let everyone know how it’s holding up.
4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap storage solutions
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas to help organize her desk. The capacity is fairly decent, but the construction is a little less that what I expected. The general premise for building is to slot the pieces together and then you screw into a slot that the threads hold on to, not a hole. This makes it a little tricky to build and once together is a little flimsy. While building it with my daughter, I lightly sanded some of the connections between the pieces and added some wood glue. This greatly increased the rigidity of the final product. Overall it was a good gift, but without the glue if it took a tumble off the desk, I think that would be the end of it.
2.0 out of 5 stars functional, fun brain/fixit exersize, for me, but not for everyone, not as advertised
I read the reviews and I took all those that said to use glue for this to heart.summary:If you're not handy/crafty this isn't for you. It turned out to be a fun model but only because I like fixing stuff.> aesthetics - poor. This is a functional small storage doo-dad. Not so beautiful. Arrived with some chipped surfaces and the instructions apologize for it and say it still works ok ("huh?")> have glue ready and a clean well-lit place to assemble.> have a strong magnifier to read the instructions. some parts on the diagram cannot be distinguished without noting a single pixel difference.> have tools ready to fix holes.> I had fun assembling and fixing this up, but only because of my nerdy/crafty side. It will frustrate a lot of people.I anticipated that it would go together loosely, and the directions were difficult to follow.I approached it with the attitude that I've been warned, and this was to simply be a fixit/fun model.Right at the first couple of steps (the drawer) there were some essential holes missing in two pieces. At this point I was dismayed but decided that I could return it now before messing with it, or slog through and fix it as I see fit.I chose to slog through. By going forward with drilling the necessary holes I'd forego any return thoughts.Only the drawer needed that much drastic action and it actually worked out ok. Picture included.Note that the screws are a strange configuration to me - the threads are totally visible in the regular assemply. They just hold the pieces in a groove cut in the wood.Overall the assembly was a fun challenge but only from the handy/fixit/crafty/model-builder in me. I felt like when I was a kid assembling a plastic model (actually a good thing)I'd like to see if I can further exted the design to some kind of steam-punk look to hide the screws?Absolutely functional as a desk organizer. Bonus was a couple of extra pieces that apparently look like a rabbit when assembled it is a phone holder.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great organizer
East to assemble. I have a very long home/work desk so I actually purchased two of these and placed them side by side. The screws on the sides do not fit flush as this wood I believe is bamboo. So I simply used a piece of scrap wood and made depressions so the screws would fit flush into this spacer I made. The little drawer at the bottom is not heavy duty but makes a good place to fit items. Great way to organize pens, pencils and everything else. Makes your work area or desk look very neat.
