5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent paint mixer for hobbies
This is a laboratory grade mixer but works quite well for mixing small bottles of paint used by hobbyist. It is heavy and stays put while in use and creates an vigorous mixing action.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works so well
I tried to cut corners and order a cheaper brand… Well the cheaper one showed up defective. I returned it and bought this one. This mixer works really well! This thing is great for my airbrush paints. Mixes my hand made and store bought paints perfectly. It just works!
5.0 out of 5 stars Solidly built vortex mixer
I have only just received this product and tried it out on a few hard to mix paints. It does a great job and takes a lot less time to mix the paint than trying to shake them or pull off the dropper nozzles to stir them with a metal stirrer. The unit is very well built. It is solid plastic with good rubber feet, and the switch operates easily when you push down on it. While mixing it is very quite and doesn't vibrate excessively or move around on my desk. It only takes a few seconds to mix most paints, and stubborn ones only take 30 seconds or so. It is easy to use with the bottles upside down as well, and larger bottles work just as well.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised.
Does a quick job of mixing paint. The base is heavy enough to ensure no movement when in use.
5.0 out of 5 stars Effective mixer, for at least within its 1-year warranty
This vortex mixer has been very effective for the use that I got it for: quick, thorough mixing of small pots of liquid or semi-liquid paints. Specifically, Reaper MSP paints, Vallejo GameColor Inks, GreenStuffWorld Fluor paints, Secret Weapon, Army Painter, MIG, AK Interactive, Games Workshop contrast paints, and generally all types of thin washes and inks all mixed very well. The only caveat was around thicker paints: outliers like Vallejo Model Color dropper bottles and Games Workshop metallics pots (e.g. Leadbelcher) were too viscous to effectively mix.The device is heavy enough and the three-leg design with rubber feet is stable enough to prevent motion or drift while running the mixer on a desk surface. Sound while running is audible not but not loud.Quality assurance: my mini vortex mixer died after just over 11 months, with an internal mechanical fault that caused it to stop rotating/agitating despite electrical power still working and the top sensor switch still functioning. To their credit, 4E's Scientific did provide good support. They were communicative when the problem was reported through Bolo, and did quickly provide a within-warranty replacement after being provided with video of the fault.I would give this a guarded 5/5 rating due to the effective use of it with (nearly all) of the miniature paints I use it with and the warranty service that 4E's lived up to. If the warranty replacement mixer ends up breaking down the ranking would go down, but this is an excellent mixer while it runs properly.====Update 2022-07-12: the replacement mixer is still going strong after one year, so I would now give this an unreserved 5/5.====Update 2024-02-09: the replacement mixer is still going fine after 2.5 years, so definitely an unreserved 5/5.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect paint shaker!
Miniature acrylic paint needs lots of shaking. My wrist was breaking from all the shaking. I've 200 little paint bottles. This machine is amazing, yes you will get vibration up your arm but that beats breaking your wrist shaking lol.Creates a little vortex inside the paint bottle and it mixes it faster than you can by shaking with your broken wrist.Rubber feet keep device planted solid. Unit has some weight to it so it really doesn't move. Good stuff. Doesn't even make that much noise. Better than cheaper stuff that breaks. Buy once cry once
5.0 out of 5 stars Great customer service!
Original review:This shaker is very effective at mixing small bottles of (hobby) paint and there’s no mess unlike using a spinning wand or stir stick. Unfortunately, the unit has poor longevity and I question quality control. Out of the box, the USB port didn’t work. I didn’t buy a vortex mixer to charge my iPhone so I decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of returning it for a replacement. Now, exactly 6 months after first use, the unit has developed 2 issues: 1) the rubber area you press against has become much less responsive and it’s difficult to find the sweet spot where it will start, and 2) the motor ramps down and stops while mixing. I suspect whatever triggers the unit to start/run is failing. I’m not a professional artist or even a weekly user of the mixer - just a casual hobbyist - so I’m surprised the mixer hasn’t lasted longer. It’s a shame as it was a real effort saver initially.UPDATE: Four E reached out to me within 24 hours after I left my 2-star review to offer me a replacement mixer. They were very apologetic and did not ask me to change my rating. I’m surprised and impressed at the offer and will update my review based on how the replacement performs. Definitely a thumbs-up for their customer service.UPDATE #2: As promised, Lynette at Four E had a replacement mixer to me in just 3 or 4 days. The replacement works perfectly and I couldn’t be happier with Four E’s commitment to support!
5.0 out of 5 stars It was okay...until updated one arrived.
Review of Mini Vortex Mixer - Four E's Scientific Lab Vortex Shaker, 5600rpm, Touch Function. Mixer was okay, was not impressed with build quality. You need to hold your paint in place JUST RIGHT or it will not work. Even though unit was 5600rpm it just did not feel like it. Returned unit.Skip a couple of lunches and do what I did and get the easy to use Big Blue Four E's Scientific Lab Vortex Mixer (0 to 3000rpm) to mix even thick paints like Army Painter. OR the Labnique Vortex Mixer (2800rpm) also very easy to use and much more stable/does not move about like the Big Blue Four E's/not much vibration sent to table/wish it had more power to mix the thicker paints (is great for gw contrast, Vallejo, AK, Reaper) or I'd have kept it. Both are way better choices.UPDATE 12-18-21. I was sent an updated/newer unit to review. New one was everything the old one wasn't. Works much better (easy to use, unit itself is more robust/heavier). Newer version highly recommended.
Best one out there
Don't waste your money on cheap black mixers....they don't last long. This is a beauty....well made and performs great.
Great!!!
My son showed me this, but didn't want me to spend so much for his Christmas gift. I looked at the reviews of the cheaper one and this one. By far, this one seemed the best choice.I surprised him and explained why I decided to buy it.He said it worked great!
Gonna make mixing sooooo much easier
Don't hesitate to purchase this unit
Shake Em hard
Used on paint that had sat for far too long. did a marvelous job. Nice and stable and strong effect. Use with an agitator (Stainless steel ball bearing) for acrylic paints. Do not use on inks (oops), takes them a while to settle.
Great mixer
Fast and easy just load and shake my airbrush paints back to life Just that quick.
