5.0 out of 5 stars A No-Heat Curling Method That Is Easy To Implement and Works Incredibly Well
I have been on my wavy hair journey for a couple of years now and have been trying to find ways to boost my natural texture as well as prolong my styling. I have spent my whole life trying and failing to figure out how to have my (what I thought was my straight yet temperamental) hair hold a curl longer than 20 minutes/stepping outside (whichever came first). I could never figure out or have the patience for hot irons (and a style that took an hour would be gone in a quarter of that time usually), I hated putting in and sleeping in rollers. On a bit of a whim I picked this up and gave it a try and - wow. The method was super easy to learn and with a bit of trial and error I have been able to play around with different curl sizes and styles. Whether dry or misted with a bit of salt water I wake up with bouncy, well defined ringlets every morning - all I have to do is shake them out, give my roots a bit of a flip and tousle, and either let them fall where they want to be a bit naturally or separate my ringlets a bit then gently comb them out with a wide tooth comb or my fingers, maybe add a spritz of hair spray if it’s a humid or rainy day then enjoy beautiful loose curls all day. I don’t want to say it’s life changing, but it’s definitely hair changing and it has made doing my hair so much easier. I feel 80% more put together and dressed for the day just by taking out my curl set.I was afraid sleeping on it would be uncomfortable or end up mussing up my curls but even as a side sleeper I don’t find myself having any trouble at all with either comfort or slippage. I do wish that the set came with a claw clip since it’s included in the instructions (especially for the price) but luckily I had one laying around.

My hair has gone from never being able to hold a curl in my 31 years of life, to being curled all day. I purchased this to try and learn the heatless curling technique. I really Wanted to get a high end curler made from silk, but didn’t want to spend the money until I learned The technique and knew I would Be able to sleep through the night with it in. I have Successfully used this every single night for about 2 months now. I’ve perfected a method that works best for my hair type. I have Long straight hair that is on the thinner side. After washing my hair, I will Blow dry it, lightly run a straightener over it to reduce frizz, then put this contraption on to my head and hair. Initially the crown method was my go to, but I’ve recently switched back to the original method where it’s on their side of your head like pigtails. I do Not use water. I do Put some hair oil on my lengths and a bit on the roots to reduce any frizz. I use The L’Oréal miracle oil. That stuff truly IS a miracle. I also sometimes will spray a bit of hairspray over it once it’s in my hair. I do Sleep with a satin bonnet nightly which I’m sure also helps the style to form. Once you get what works for you down, this thing works great! I dont Wash my hair daily, about every 3 days, and second and third day hair come out just as good using this. Recommend giving it a try

If you’re thinking about buying this… Pull the trigger! I originally bought a cheaper one from urban planet, it was 7.99 and 50% off. Unsuccessfully used it a couple times and then I ended up getting the hang of it. The curls are lovely BUT I couldn’t get over how uncomfortable it was. It was hard foam and it pulled on my hair because it wasn’t super flexible. I heard about higher quality brands that offered a softer rod—but they were $100+. I was bummed. I put out an insta story asking for recommendations and a link to this product was sent my way. It arrived quickly as usual and I just put it on… WOW is all I have to say. Super soft. I’m laying my head on my pillow at this current moment and not only is it comfortable as heck, it’s even more comfortable than if I wasn’t wearing it (does that make sense? lol) I’m super excited to see how the curls turn out. I think they will be tighter than the other rod I have—due to the squishy-ness. I put a tight scarf on and then my bonnet to protect the style. I will update in 12 hours on the results with a picture if I remember. Don’t sleep on the product… Sleep in it! (Haha get it)Also I got the Malibu Barbie one and it’s actually adorable. Obsessed with this purchase!Would love to see them come out with a wider rod for looser curls! Maybe they already offer such a product? I’ll do some digging!Happy no heat curling, girls!
