I had the opportunity to work with EmpowerDX because I write about gluten-free living and the company reached out to me to be featured in a news program for Celiac Disease Awareness Month. Both my daughter and I decided to take the test. I had already been diagnosed with celiac disease 10 years ago, so spoiler alert, I have one of the celiac genes. However, I hadn't tested my 14-year-old daughter for celiac, and since celiac has a strong genetic component, I wanted to test her too. The test is an EASY cheek swab test. I had prior tested my son for the celiac gene with a blood draw, which wasn't fun. I followed all the instructions on the test packet, mailed it back to the company, and within the week, the company emailed me the results. Unfortunately my daughter has one of the celiac genes. She doesn't have celiac, nor does this test mean she will get celiac. But knowing he has the gene means she can be more vigilant in her health and monitor closely for symptoms. I highly recommend this test for anyone with a first degree relative to someone with celiac disease.

As someone with celiac disease, being able to assist my family members and loved ones to test themselves for celiac disease genetic markers, right at home, is really empowering. The kit is easy to use, instructions are straightforward, and it's just a quick mouth swab. While this test does not diagnose the disease, it is extremely helpful to note if someone related to you has the genetic marker for celiac and be more prepared for the future. Having companies like Empower Dx that offer these at home test kits also helps promote awareness for an autoimmune condition that on average takes 6-10 years to diagnose!

I've had gut issues for years and I'm so excited to see empowerDX offering a Celiac Gene test! It was a really easy process, I just had to swab both of my cheeks. The kit comes with everything you need to mail it back to the lab, too! I sent it back on Friday and can't wait to see what the result is. Definitely a great product and worth a try if you are curious if Celiac is what is causing your gut issues!

So far so good. Great detailed process and instructions on getting this completed. The longest part of taking this test is registering. The test is simple and easy and painless! Looking forward to the results since I have already been tests for celiac it will be interesting if the results are the same. Update coming soon.

The test shipped fast, was easy to do, and resulted faster than expected. The only thing I had an issue with was the results. I’ve reached out and never got a response. I wish their explanation information gave a better explanation of what your actual risk was based on the results. Also not sure what it means to test positive for 2/3 items and there’s no real explanation. Other than that, it’s easy to do and gives some insight.

This was a super easy test to use, you just swab your inner cheeks and put it in the vial and send it off. It comes with a prepaid label which makes it easy. I received my results quickly, in less than 2 weeks and that was even over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is a little on the expensive side, but beats an invasive procedure on your insides. Definitely recommend if you are questioning your potential risk for Celiac.
