5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Ice Cream
I bought this ice cream maker because my mom loves ice cream, can’t get enough of it. So being the wonderful daughter I am, I decided to try my hand at making it. That’s kind of why I’m her favorite, lol, I go the distance for my mama. So I couldn’t decide for a while if I should go with the old school or cutting edge machine. The decision came down to quantity. You can’t make nearly as much with the new ice free machines, unless you spend the big bucks. I also decided to start making her ice cream because we’ve completely changed how we eat. We now eat as clean as we can afford and organic. The ice creams you can buy now days are mostly “frozen desserts” and the crap they shovel into them has gotten ridiculous. So my mission was a healthier ice cream with no junk. What follows is the recipe I came up with, it’s pretty amazing (mom’s words), lol. You can make it with the ingredients you prefer, for me I went completely organic. I also tried a new vanilla and the difference was dramatic! It was unbelievably good and the vanilla flavor, just wow! It’s very similar to the vanilla Breyers uses in taste but a little better. It’s Lafaza Organic Madagascar Bourbon Pure Ground Vanilla Bean Powder, 1oz. You can order it with your ice cream machine right here on Bolo. The ice cream maker worked beautifully and I wouldn’t have changed a thing except maybe an on/off switch. You have to plug it in to turn it on and unplug to shut it down. A minor issue, if you can even call it that. Oh gosh I forgot about the cord there for a second. It’s super short so have a plug close or grab a small extension. The machine did go through an entire large bag of ice so, make sure you have a lot before you begin. I had to top the ice off twice during the process so just keep an eye on it. It took about 30 minutes to churn it in total. I made sure my ice cream was cooled for 2 hrs before I put it in the mixer. If you don’t want to wait you can put it in earlier, you’ll just go through way more ice. I also waited until the ice cream was pretty firm before I shut it down. Below is my very simple, much healthier ice cream recipe. It’s an absolutely beautiful French vanilla or custard as some might call it. I’m old fashioned and eggs just make ice cream that much richer and oh so delicious. Enjoy!7 egg yolks (organic, free range)1 cup honey (local)6 cups heavy whipping cream (organic grass fed)1 cup whole milk (organic)1 tsp Lafaza Organic Madagascar Bourbon Pure Ground Vanilla Bean Powder1/8 tsp sea saltWhisk egg yolks and honey in a large mixing bowl and set aside. In a large pot mix together cream, milk, salt, and heat on medium heat until it’s roughly 155 degrees f, or until it starts to steam slightly. Take off the heat and temper your egg and honey mixture. Which is simply adding the cream mix to the egg mix very slowly, whisking the entire time. Then take the entire mixture and put it back into your large pot and cook until it reaches 175 degrees f. Do not go over 180 degrees. Take it off the heat and let cool for 30 min., then add your vanilla. Place plastic directly onto mixture so it doesn’t form a skin and cool for another 1 and 1/2 hrs. Then follow the directions for the ice cream maker. It’s that simple and it will be the best vanilla ice cream you have ever had, well, if not the best then top 3 at least, lol.
5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ice Cream Machine ever!!!
I bought this as a gift for my mom, who already makes delicious homemade ice cream and just could use a new one as back up. Instead, after using this ice cream machine, we will never let her use her other one again. This machine makes the creamiest ice cream we have ever tasted with her same recipe she’s always used. If you are familiar with storing extra homemade ice cream in the freezer, for us it has always frozen hard with ice crystals and is not as creamy as it was when freshly made. This machine makes the stored ice cream taste just as creamy as when it was fresh, no need to thaw out due to ice crystals. We bought the blue one, and I would highly recommend buying this machine. This machine is easy to use, clean, and the handle is a nice idea to make it easier to carry. I’m buying one for myself after how wonderful it has been for her!
5.0 out of 5 stars A delicious surprise
This lightweight ice cream maker is a fantastic deal for the money! So much so that three family members now have purchased one! I was concerned about the durability because other than the canister it is plastic. It gets the job done sufficiently and easily serves up to eight people with a decent size serving. FYI, we are ice cream hogs so our servings are on the larger scale. It's the typical whirring noise without being too loud. We've experimented with our own recipes and have been very pleased with the outcome. Do put the canister in the freezer a few minutes before adding your ingredients as you prepare to churn. This seems to help the ice cream to freeze up better. A fun family activity too!

Works great!
5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the purchase -- Ice Cream Maker! 🍦🍨
I'm extremely pleased with this ice cream machine, which boasts an impressive freezing capability and yields delicious recipes with a perfect texture. I've experienced no leakage issues, making it one of my best purchases. It is, of course, on the larger side, so be sure to have a storage bowl and sufficient freezer space for leftovers.
5.0 out of 5 stars THIS WORKS!
I bought this for our favorite server at a place we eat everyday. It was a complete surprise to her! She made some chocolate ice cream for us and brought it in to work soon after. We keep asking her for more. My goodness! We eat a name brand ice cream a few times a week as our snack and I must tell you that this ice cream she made was superior to store brand. The flavor was exceptional--above the store brand, smoother and creamier. I think I might get one myself!
5.0 out of 5 stars Best purchase ever!!
The media could not be loaded. This was my 1st time making ice cream, & I chose the chocolate recipe from the book that came with the machine. Absolutely perfect, & SO Delicious!! I appreciated all of the detailed reviews in helping me decide on this specific brand, so I'll try to be as helpful to others too :).I used Morton Rock Salt for making my 1st batch of homemade ice cream today! :) I have read that you can use Any Rock Salt in the machines for making ice cream, but for my 1st batches, I went with Morton, because I trust the name, but I also bought a 50lbs bag of pure Rock Salt today for future use in the ice cream machine, & also for tossing outside during icy weather lol The most important thing to remember, is that you don't eat this salt. Your ice cream ingredients go into the metal cylinder with a lid that the churning motor attaches to, Then you put about 6 cups of ice around the cylinder, & about 1/2 cup of Rock Salt evenly on top of that, & you just layer the Ice, then Rock Salt, Ice, then Rock Salt, etc... to near the top of bucket, & that Rock Salt Never touches the ice cream. I hope this helps others in understanding :) I'm so happy that I was able to buy this machine. It wasn't loud at all (I'll try to update with a video of the motor in use.), & only took about 30 min. total. I used up a small 6 pound bag of ice from the store, & only used up about 2-2 1/2 cups of the Rock Salt 😁
