    I am a lazy cook and have used this Bamboo steamer for years. It is a simple, easy way to cook vegetables and meals. I put my food in the steamer (with a liner), place it over a pot of water, and read a book or watch TV. One hour later everything is done,, perfectly!

    There are two things I’m not happy about these steamer baskets, first, the bamboo used for the rim split when I washed it the first time before use; second, it has a very strong unpleasant smell, I suspect it maybe whatever chemical the manufacturer used to bleach or clean the bamboos. As much as I like the nostalgia of using bamboo steamers, I would buy stainless steel steamer next time.

    I wasn't sure at first, if I could successfully use this; but, my kiddos (20 yr old twins), were thrilled, I finally got one. Steamed buns & dumplings were our first forray into some of the foods we love. I'll never boil again. This works so much nicer. I did steam some broccoli and wondered if the cabbage smell would permeate the wood; but the next time we cooked with it, no smell. While there is some discoloration after several uses, it is like cast iron - it only gets better with use. We haven't used the liners yet. I guess, we either aren't sure what to do with them or don't need them - which is kinda nice. The 10" diamter fits inside several pots we already have and even a couple deeper skillets. We're still playing around with the different layers & getting things to cook all together. But this is pretty much idiot-proof. I love it and wonder why I didn't do this sooner. It's so much lighter & easier for me to use than a traditional metal steamer. And the food really does cook so much nicer. My next endeavor is to steam rice with it. Such an great, inexpensive alternative to getting more electrical gadgets! And a blast to play around with.
