Such a wonderful book. I bought this for one of my students who is now going away to get his masters. The book is so well written, the publishing is great, good sturdy pages, the print size is wonderful, but most importantly, it’s contents are life-changing. I would recommend this book to anyone that is really looking for the power that can exist from focusing one’s mind.

This book is incredibly insightful and full of wisdom. Written at the beginning of the 20th Century, it is loaded with wisdom for ANY century or generation, bringing great understanding to the way our thoughts guide and direct all that we are and all that we do; At the same time, concise and easily read! Definitely a MUST READ for anyone interested furthering their understanding and expanding their perception of Self!

Please ignore the trolls who say that this book has nothing special about it. They have missed the authors message completely and I hope they are able to one day reap the benefits of learning how to think. The author didn't have to make his explanation of thought as beautiful as this, but he did. This is an extraordinary piece of writing that you can tell was channeled from the authors soul.

As a 120 year old writing, this short read should be taken based on the era it is from. There's some great wisdom in purifying thought to improve circumstances. Some very distilled sage advise, but given in a very "all or nothing", "holier-than-thou" way that can be challenging to agree with at times.I don't agree that kids bombed in war zones are at fault, or deserved their lot in life, because of poor thoughts. Which the author seems to suggest. I do agree that we are responsible for improving our own circumstances by our good actions and thought. James Allen does have good guidance on how to achieve that.Personal believe is that we are not our thoughts alone. A stronger man (or person) recognizes they are not entangled in their lesser thoughts but focuses on those that are positive and strives to live in them. I don't believe that any of us are able to live with completely pure thought, but that the act of trying makes us better.All in all, a worthwhile read, even if some parts came across very 'judgy' - which, again, a book of its era.

Book is divided in 2 sections.First part was a bit boring for someone who likes technical actionable things.Second part is decent.If you had a good upbringing, these are things your father should have taught you, they are learnt from experience.Simple things such as doing the small things properly and do whatever needs to be done right now, do not wait.May go back over in a few years again.

Truly, James Allen was ahead of himself when he wrote this book. Even if times have changed, our mentality has not, and the human character remains the same through the ages. This book incites one to be better, to THINK better. An absolute must read, and a very short one too.
