First off, the blue option is absolutely gorgeous. I love this unit having an On/Off dial. This stove top cooks things really well and so far I don't have any issues with food taking ridiculously long to cook. I do want to mention that this unit has two flaws that are safety issues and was the reason for my original three star rating.The dials get HOT. If the dial is set to max and you want to adjust the heat later on, you WILL BURN YOUR FINGERS. Since this unit would be my everyday cook-top, it is especially annoying to need an oven mitt to adjust the temperature every time I cook. I have never had this issue with any other hot plate I've bought. Highly recommend this company adds a turning knob - what's the point of the safety On/Off switch if you sometimes burn your hand to use it?The second issue is that the feet's "grips" are plastic. Yes. Plastic. This means if you are using it on a tile countertop, the entire unit will slide if it accidentally gets pushed or pressed. This is not safe! I've bought many hot plates in the past and the feet grips were never an issue - they were always rubber and gripped well. Highly recommend this company update this issue, as it should be an easy fix.If you are willing to put up with the hot dials and perhaps buy your own rubberized grips for the feet, the stove top actually works really well and I highly recommend the blue one, as it is especially pretty :)Update - After a few uses, the knobs no longer get hot, so just beware of using them the first couple of times. Also, for my tiled countertop, the plastic grips are no longer an issue. I don’t know if I have just worn the plastic feet down or what but the unit no longer slides around on my countertop.It is now over a year later and I have to say this is the best stove I have had in eight years (minus the initial hot dials and plastic sliding grips). If the company could address these two issues, I don’t think any other brand could beat their’s at this price point. I have been very pleased with my purchase.

The BroilKing I was using for canning (because I have a glass top stove) stopped working suddenly. Unfortunately the price for those went up to nearly $200.I needed an alternative and found this $40 gem. The burner size was the same as the BroilKing. Others had commented that it's works well with their canner, so I ordered it.Excellent decision! I've already used it for multiple canning batches.However, as others have mentioned, the outside of this thing gets HOT! Don't let small kids near it!I placed it on a metal oven tray for safety and to protect my countertop. But it plays very nicely with my cast-iron frying pan as well as my canner. Even though the burner is quite a bit smaller than the canner, it has no problem getting the canner up to and holding it at 10 lbs of pressure.I'm considering getting a backup, just in case this one stops working in the middle of a canning session. (At this price I could get 2 more and would still save money compared to a BroilKing! HA!)

This stove is more powerful than my old coiled stove. So, it cooks faster. I use it for outdoor cooking in my covered deck. When used for the first time, foul smelling fumes came out for few minutes but after that there were no bad odor. It is very light and compact and easy to store when not in use.

Update (3 stars): The vendor noticed my review and refunded my order, which I really appreciate. I'm increasing my rating because of their proactive customer service.Original (1 star):The hot plate itself works well, but the entire casing also gets dangerously hot. You can easily burn yourself if you're not careful. It also takes a very long time (60 min) to cool down.

Good hot plate got us through a stove change.
Our 32 year old oven stopped working then short circuited due to frayed, crumbled insulation on some wires. We ordered a new stove but it was going to take three days to arrive so we ordered this hotplate which arrived the next day to be able to do some simple cooking until the new stove arrived. This lovely little hotplate looks elegant and heated food efficiently albeit less forcefully than the old coil stove top. Then we got the new stove so this hotplate will come in handy to use at the table to keep food warm when we have burritos or fondu.

The elements heat up evenly thanks to their cast iron covers.The elements take some time to get up to temperature, boiling 2 litres of water takes awhile.Good temperature control at lower setting for Eg. eggs.
