My son plays many older games still on cd/dvd, so I got him this one. He installed it himself in about 15 minutes. Has been working great for a couple of years.

After one of my computers crashed and lost my music collection, I decided to start the project of ripping my entire >1000 audio CD collection. I decided to use “Exact Audio Copy” on Windows - they recommended Plextor drives, the AccurateRip database seemed to have good stats for the Plextor drives, so I got this one. Put it in an external case, hooked it up via USB to a Windows 11 machine (along with two new LG Blu-ray drives) and fired up three instances of Exact Audio Copy (one for each drive). Loaded CDs into all of them and started ripping. First thing I noticed was that this drive was quite a bit faster than the other drives, and it seemed to have an easier time with dirty or damaged CDs than the other drives. When one of the other drives reported problems with a disk, I would put the disk in this drive, and more often than not, this Plextor would be able to read it without any problems! I was so pleased with the performance of this drive that I bought another Plextor drive!

I am hoping its a true Plextor and not just a rebranded generic DVD Burner. Over a decade ago CD-Writers were over $500 each and the best and most reliable of them were made by Plextor.
