Review by my husband:The Sense-U monitor was something that my wife had found and researched. We ended up purchasing after finding out a certain “bird” baby monitor no longer monitored what they said. The Sense-U monitor measures abdominal movement and feeling temperature. The parameters are preset, but through the app you can change the parameters to what you feel comfortable with. Then if either of the values fall out of range, an alarm sounds on your phone and the base station.I like that the base station is small and unobtrusive. The base lights up when the alarm goes off. The LED is bright enough to see from various angles. And the alarm is quite loud, which for a heavy sleeper, is great for me.The monitor itself is small flat circle that slides onto the front of the diaper with a small pinhole size LED. The monitor stays on fairly well considering. The only times it comes off is when our baby is fussy and kicking their feet a lot. The gyro inside the monitor is to my surprise very responsive. The app is user friendly and intuitive. Easy to set up the units with instructions to connect to Wifi and pair the base station to the monitor. The app has various tabs. The main tab is split into the monitor data and the base station data. The monitor data shows what position the baby is in regards to the monitor with an cute image of a baby. It also shows the abdominal movements and feeling temperature clearly. The bases station shows room temp and humidity levels. There is a tab that tracks the alerts of when the measured metrics fall out of the assigned parameters. There is an optional subscription service for the app that adds more to the app, but I find that the app as it is already does what we need it for. There have been times when I would get frustrated or not understand something about the monitor. I found that the help desk section of the product’s website truly is helpful and assisted me in understanding what it is doing (or not doing) and how to remedy it. All in all we both quite like this system and the peace of mind it gives my wife is worth every penny to me!
5.0 out of 5 stars Helps relieve anxiety
I’m a first time mom and overwhelmingly worried about every little thing. Constantly. I wanted the Owlet monitor but I couldn’t justify the price and my son has a unilateral talipes (clubfoot) that requires him to wear a cast and boots on his foot, so the Owlet wouldn’t have worked anyway. I read tons and tons of reviews for this product as well as similar ones and ultimately decided on this one. Within the first night I felt extremely relieved and slept better myself. It takes a little while to figure out how to set it up and use it, but then it’s easy. I would typically stare at the baby monitor or go up to the bassinet constantly throughout the night to ensure he was breathing. Now, with this, I don’t of that at all. I simply open the app and see the stats and then go back to sleep. Of course it’s not foolproof, but it does ease my mind. Also he doesn’t even seem to notice it’s there on his diaper whatsoever. The only drawback is that the Bluetooth doesn’t reach that far. For example, since he currently sleeps in a bassinet in our room, the device is easily connected to the base and works flawlessly. But, once we have to move him into his crib, down the hall, the device no longer connects to the base. Even though this is not a far distance whatsoever. So, I’m not sure what we will do once he’s moved in there.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works good, but notifications are a bit more delayed than ideal
Overall I’m blown away with how well the little sensor picks up both breathing and baby position. I bought this when my 5 month old started flipping over to her stomach when sleeping to give us peace of mind that we could sleep, but still know if she flipped and could right her before she suffocated. When you have the app open, it damn near instantly shows the position change from back to stomach, however the notification, both in app, and on the base station are delayed 45-60 seconds consistently. I contacted support and they said that’s fairly normal, but could be internet latency. Doesn’t make any sense since the darn app itself shows up immediately. I’m guessing there’s a setting you cannot change for how long it waits to beep / notify so you don’t get false alerts for continuous rolls or quick flips. If they could fix this, or allow you to change it, it would be an easy 5 star
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use
Very straight forward and easy to connect to app. This gives me peace of mind at night, I think its worth the price. It seems comfortable for baby to wear. You can take it with you if traveling, just needs wifi.
1.0 out of 5 stars Review update - recommend this product - Don’t recommend
Revised review:Customer service got back to me after a week but then promptly made efforts to fix the problem. When it was determined that the product wasn’t fixable, they informed me that they were sending a replacement. Customer service ended up being great. I depend on this product for the peace of mind that my baby is breathing, sleeping on the correct side and motion alerts. I recommend this for any mother. This was great in the beginning. The temperature is inaccurate (I have two baby monitors and one thermometer station that report to my phone the temp and the button is always 10-13 degrees lower). But rollover and breathing alerts are good. I depended on this as a first time mom with postpartum anxiety. The button stopped working after less than 5 months. I contacted them with no response. For $200 I didn’t expect the main component to go bad within months.11/30/2023: this product send was new but super flawed. In short, the device said my baby was on his stomach always. I did all the troubleshoot steps with no results. That was ok for me. What was important to me was his breathing and temp. The new product ended up alerting me that baby breathing, or abnormal movement, on stomach. IHave to conclude that there is a reason hospital monitors are so expensive and we have a few years to go before this technology is up to standard.
