5.0 out of 5 stars Works well.
This is a very nice unit. You can ask it to find a store and it will give you a list of locations. It understands what you ask it for and its driving directions are easily understood.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great GPS
This Garmin is a very good GPS for cars or trucks without a built-in one. It also has free lifetime map updates, making it much cheaper than built-in ones.
5.0 out of 5 stars Recommend this without hesitation!
The graphics are clear and the map is up-to-date. I'm not a sophisticated user of this thing, but for my money it's fine! It replaced an older Garmin which had a bad habit of cutting out without warning. This one has sat up on my dashboard happily, turning on instantly and staying on! I put up with the old unit, thinking that the terrible heat generated by the Arizona sun was causing the problems. This machine just shrugs it off and keeps perking along !
4.0 out of 5 stars Too many "Smart" Features
When I purchased this, I just wanted a larger, sharper screen than my old Nuvi.I had lots of problems with all the "Smart" features with this new unit. It would not work with my car's Bluetooth. Not sure why, but there was never any audio, unless I shutoff the Bluetooth of the GPS, and then got audio from the actual GPS unit. Also I didn't like it when it was paired with my Iphone. Text messages would obscure the screen while I was trying to navigate. And for some reason the audio driving instructions would suddenly disappear.Once I disabled all Bluetooth functions, the unit worked great, just like my old Nuvi but with a better screen. I did like it that now I can give it voice commands and not fiddle with it while I am driving. Also, I was happy to be able to download all my locations from my Nuvi onto the new GPS by using the the Garmin Express program.Update: Since I submitted this review, I discovered there is a way in the settings, to select which notifications from the phone show up on the Garmin screen. I have de-selected all of them except for incoming call. This makes the GPS a much better tool. I still get the sound notification that I have a text, but there is nothing on the GPS screen, and that is what I prefer.
5.0 out of 5 stars Diverse connections, fast response
Very fast response to every touchscreen tasking. The app on Android (Apple) should be loaded 1st then turn on for the 1st time and follow the prompts for connections, both WIFI and Bluetooth to the phone app. Highly simple and intuitive setup. Charge to main unit for ~10 minutes before turning on or it might not stay turned on and you'll think something is broken. Leave charging while doing everything (updating/configuring) initially. Live WX maps, forecasts, traffic. Use The old app "BASECAMP" to re-install all the routes and saved locations from the previous Garmin being replaced. Fantastic machine for ~$200.
1.0 out of 5 stars Still need to use my phone
I bought this new GPS as a present for my wife. Out of the box impression was very good, big screen, clear display and voice recognition seemed better than my older model. Our first trip with it was a major disappointment. It got us from our house in NC to a hotel in Birmingham AL. Several times while traveling on the interstate it warned of upcoming speed changes from 70mph to 60, and the actual speed change was never posted. Once at the hotel we entered a friends address to a large, gated community which has been there for several years, and it wasnt found. Tried different variables and nothing. I put the exact address in Google maps and it appeared instantly. I can't tell you how many times this happens with Garmins. I travel for my work and it happens a lot, either it cant be found our it takes me to a bogus location. I should have bought her a nice phone holder for the windshield. Garmin needs to invest much more in their software instead of ways to get out of "Lifetime Maps"
5.0 out of 5 stars Big and beautiful GPS Navigator
I love my new Garmin GPS navigator's awesome graphics, map details, ease of use and accuracy. I can't say the same about the window adapter which keeps coming off which is a safety hazard if you're driving. But, I took care of that by purchasing holder and put it on top of the dash.
5.0 out of 5 stars Superb GPS for those who car travel. Many other functions outside of GPS
Being a Garmin GPS user for some time. Then, I upgraded to this current technology model of great screen, many other functions, and useful additional information. The processor is really fast. Perfect for interstate travel and longer trips. Outside of cities, you cannot depend on the smartphone GPS, on interstates and otherwise. Often, it is not available, and info is minimal, so not really useful for longer trips. Just get it. It will be of crucial value, where you need safety and travel info. One function I love is the dynamic information of where the next rest area going to be and how far--same for gas stations and other info. Trust me. GET IT.
