5.0 out of 5 stars Nice beginner bundle even though tuner is defective.
This is a very nice beginner guitar bundle. For the price, I am impressed with the physical quality of the guitar and it sounds great. For shipment this was packaged well and it appears that it was packed and boxed up with care, which says a lot about the way Donner approaches things. The guitar case is a bit flimsy, but it will protect the guitar a bit for traveling to lessons or a friend's house. Just don't bang it around in this case. It also has straps so you can carry it on your back. The front pouch will hold the accessories and your music easily. This is a good value for sure. This kit is not the finest that you will ever see, but it is not supposed to be. For a beginner it will be hard to beat at this price point and it looks and sounds like it costs a bit more. The kit comes with an electronic tuner, which is great. Sadly the one I got is defective and is difficult to read. I did contact customer support and sent them pictures twice, but after their initial reply I have heard nothing from them. It is unfortunate that a company that delivers a product that they should be proud of drops the ball over a cheap accessory. I debated dropping one star-- not so much for the faulty tuner, but more for the weak customer service. I'll have to buy a different tuner, but there is a nagging concern about what I should expect should a more serious issue develops where I need an actual solution. Still, I kept it at 5 stars because the main item, the guitar, is nice and sounds delightful even if the tuning is off a bit. I dare say that if Donner can continue to produce products that balance quality and price, and can develop a customer service model to match, they will earn a reputation that is second to none.I may update this review if needed as time goes on and this guitar gets some mileage.
5.0 out of 5 stars A fine low cost guitar.
This guitar is nice to look at, has good action and a reasonably good sound. It comes with an amplifier which I haven't used yet as well as a capo and a tuner and a set of extra strings. Delivery was quick. I like it and am very happy. My old guitar was warped and beyond repaiir $ wise. I consider myself an intermediate player strixctly accompanying my self singing at home. For a real beginner the instructions for tuning could be larger and clearer. Maybe infro about tuning manually in addition to using the Donner tuner could be added. The instructions for these things that are made in China do not always use proper English.
4.0 out of 5 stars About what you'd expect, overall not bad
Having played guitar and bass for almost 25 years, I've owned well over 100 instruments. This is a decent guitar for the price, especially considering that it included an amplifier. The guitar body is about half as deep as a normal acoustic, and therefore a bit quieter though more playable for a beginner. Some slight cosmetic issues here and there, but since I bought this guitar for my nephew who is just learning, it will likely get beat up anyway. The tuners aren't great, the electronics aren't terribly versatile, the fretboard is painted black, and the gig bag sounds like it's padded with tissue paper. However, considering I bought the whole bundle for $185, there isn't a lot to complain about. The neck is very comfy and easy to play, and swapping the strings out for a name-brand set does wonders for the tone and volume. The guitar is nowhere as good as a $200 Yamaha, but given the extras included in this bundle, it's a worthwhile deal.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds good.
This guitar actually surprised me a bit. I shouldn't have based on the price, but I was expecting it to be a bit lower quality. It is a mass produced guitar. Given that, it tunes properly, stays tuned, intonation isn't bad, no buzz, and doesn't sound bad. The frets definitely need work. They are a bit sharp where they were cut along the edge of the fretboard. The rest of the set was mediocre. If you are buying this for the amp, don't. The gig bag is okay. It comes with some other accessories which are fine. The tuner is accurate, but glitches out occasionally. It also comes with an extra set of strings and a pick guard and a few picks. If I had it to do again, I would have bought a higher quality guitar in the same price range without the amplifier.
1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Craftsmanship, non-tunable and no proper identification
Looks good with the Mahogany laminate, but will not tune properly or stay in tune. The tuner that comes with it is not worth using. There's no serial number for proper identification to register for a warranty. Cheaply made product to make a quick buck. I do not recommend it. The product doesn't show up on the Donner website.
3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly disappointed
I love Donner and own 2 guitars from them already. That being said I expected nothing less than amazing but was slightly disappointed when this one arrived. There’s many good things about it like the strings quality, size, and everything that comes with it. On the other hand there were some concerns. First off, the color on Bolo looked brighter almost green but it’s actually darker almost black (which I don’t really mind but it comes across as false advertising). It also took a while to figure out the amp situation because it wouldn’t work until I turned the volume all the way up. I personally do not feel like it’s worth the 200 dollars original price (it had a 20 dollars off promotion or something so it came down to 180). That being said, it’s playable but I think it could be better.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good 6 string acoustic guitar.
Donner provides a very good beginner guitar with included accessories. It has a 10 W amp and you can play it as an acoustic or with electric speaker. Quality was better than expected and after tuning up played quite well. Although it's a slimline, it sounds full bodied. I liked the bright green color and finish, but beware that the guitar I received was much darker than the picture represents. It's ok because I like the black guitar look anyways. If you're not a logo name snob, then this guitar for the money can't be beat IMHO.
Good value
I have received my guitar just today! To be honest I am really impressed of how good quality everything is. I love the color of guitar. It is light weight, definitely not the best quality but super reasonable for the price. There is everything I need in the box. The only thing I will have to order extra is a stand. The sound is just as good. The amplifier is portable and make the sound a bit nicer and louder. Overall I am so happy with my purchase. I recommend this set for beginners.
