My spouse suffers from arthritis and also just had open heart surgery. He needed a way to brace to get out of the car. This makes him far more stable along with his cane. It really helps when I have to park on slopes so he has more stability there, too. I ordered 2 so he has one in his car and I've got one in mine. My daughter took him out to visit friends and have a holiday lunch yesterday, and he forgot to grab it from his car--he said he regretted it, so I'll try to order one more for her car. Best thing I never knew I needed.

Easy to use. Comfortable grip. Bought one for each car after trying out the first. Feels very secure and does not sound like metal on metal like another we tried that also felt sloppy connection. This is very secure. Easily fits in side pocket of door and can be carried if traveling like when using a rental car.

We ordered these to help my wife get in and out of the car after back surgery. The handles pop in and out of the door latch in seconds. You can put your full weight on it to help lower or raise yourself in or out of the car seat and get leverage twist however you need. I’ve used similar items to stand on to reach higher up on the roof the car and I weight 240 lbs so the handle itself is solid. I highly recommend these for anyone that needs a little help getting into and out of the car.

My husband has Parkinson's and often has trouble getting enough leverage to get out of our car (an Impala which is kind of low.) This bar gives him something sturdy to grasp and help push himself up - kind of like the arm of a chair. We keep it in the passenger door pocket so it is always handy. It does not help with getting into the car, because it is in the way going that direction. As an aide for getting up and out, it is effective.

My husband was having difficulty getting in and out of car after surgery. This was the extra help he needed. It is easy to throw in the car to have ready for him. It worked great on our van, but was too big for his Honda CRV. That is the only drawback I saw, at all. Very sturdy and does the job!

It works well, it would work even better if the patient were left-handed, otherwise, very sturdy.

Excellent car door handle for seniors
I purchased this Vive Car handle assist gadget after I saw one at the Occupational Therapy session at Holy Family Rehab hospital for my Mom. My 97 year old Mom fell and broke her hip a couple months ago and required emergency hip replacement surgery. At the hospital she was practicing how to get in and out of a car with her therapist. I am so pleased with this door handle assist tool and have since bought another for my sister's car so she can help my Mom too. Other people have seen it and asked where I bought this tool. It's super easy to use and does not scratch up my car door latch as it's made of heavy duty plastic. The plastic tooth part that goes inside the latch does get scratched a bit but my car remains safe and unscratched. The tool is heavy and has a good grip which makes it sit on the door latch sturdily. I just hook it on the latch after I have my car door open and tell my Mom to hold on to the tool when she gets in and out of my car. It has supported my Mom's weight (she's only 114 pounds) but I am sure it can handle a heavier person's hand and arm. She is more sturdy on her feet when she holds the door assist and getting in and out of the car is alot easier and safer without the risk of falling or slipping down the car seat. Thank you for making such a great tool and I feel alot less stressed when I have to take my Mom out.
