5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Little Device If You Have an Older Car
I inherited a well-maintained 2011 CRV with low mileage. So, no bluetooth, USB ports...just a nice FM/AM radio and CD player, (not even a backup camera). I also have a 2015 vehicle that has bluetooth, etc. After getting tired of listening to the same CDs over-and-over, I purchased a screen device that had CarPlay, etc. That unit was intermittent and just okay, but cost just over $100. I decided that I really only needed something that could play music files. Bluetooth wasn't an important feature and I wasn't overly concerned about FM connection as I was planning on going directly thru the car's aux port. I chose this particular unit for a few main reasons:1. Cost, $23 at the time, (if it suffered early failure, no big financial loss). I looked at the upgraded model and though less expensive, I didn't like the look of it as well as the bass/treble knobs.2. Size, not large so as to not block a lot of the console3. Audio output jack, Micro-SD slot, USB slotI have used the device for a week now and I absolutely love it. My 3 criteria were covered, and the unit itself has exceeded my expectations for several reasons listed below:1. Extremely easy set-up. Plug-and-play at its best. I loaded up a 64gb micro-SD, creating files within files, (my way of creating playlists). The unit recognizes the layout and keeps the folders organized.2. Bluetooth: Though I wasn't interested in the Bluetooth capabilities, I gave it a try. The unit immediately connected with my iPhone 12 Pro with the most recent iOS installed. Call function was quick and easy, (unlike my previous more expensive CarPlay device). Call went thru quickly and audio quality was clear. The caller could hear me but I had to speak loudly, which isn't much different than in my car with actual bluetooth. So pretty impressive for a tiny little mic.3. Music sounds fantastic thru my car's factory speakers. I left my car's bass/treble settings as I had them with them both at 4, (5 being the highest). I then micro adjust within the Nulaxy unit depending on how the particular song is sounding. If you press the dial button, that will lead you to some system settings, and there are nicely programmed pre-set equalizer settings. You can also delete files if you want. Button responsiveness is excellent. Skipping forward and backwards is quick. I am using SanDisk 64GB MicroSDXC Ultra Uhs-1.4. My car's sound system volume has a huge difference between levels. For example, if I had it at 5, dialing in 6 would be far too loud. I can leave the car's radio volume at one setting and adjust the volume more finely with the Nulaxy's volume control, which is a lot more refined. I also like how the Nulaxy returns to its main screen pretty quickly if you press the controls to access either the system settings or the bass/treble settings. Other units tend to lag a second too long.5. You can manually power off the unit so it's not operating while you're driving, or you can just leave it on have it turn off with your car, (as long as your aux power turns off with your engine). What I really like about the Nulaxy is that it remembers where you left off. Not only will it remember if the unit was powered down manually or not and return to that setting when you start your car, but it will remember where you were in your song list, (and within the song), and what your equalizer settings were. It also managed to do this when I unplugged the device from the aux power. This is a very nice feature.I'm not a huge fan of vent attachments, as I have found them to be fairly unstable, block the vent, and then they wind up pulling the fins of the vent in some odd direction that blows the air where you don't want it, so I was a little disappointed that the vent attachment is molded onto the back of the device as I was planning on attaching it not on one of my car's vents. If you do want to attach it to a vent, the fact that it is molded onto the until will make it much sturdier and not have it bounce around. That being said, it is a fairly lightweight device. What I did wind up doing is squeezing the vent attachment into the small storage slot that the older CRV has. I then added a small piece of 3M double stick foam to the edge closest to the steering wheel and secured it to the plastic of the dash. I am so pleased with this setup. It is extremely secure and feels like it's cemented to the dash. It doesn't block any of my controls and the mic is closer to me. I even still have access to place small items in the little cubby space.All-in-all this is a fantastic little unit that costs less than you'd spend on a work lunch. It outperforms some of the more expensive units with CarPlay. Since it is so lightweight it does feel kind of "cheap," but it certainly does NOT perform like some cheap electronic. I would be concerned that the bass/treble buttons might fail at some point, but I think if you are gent with the buttons they should last. I will of course update if anything changes down the road. But even if this Nulaxy only last a year, it certainly would be more than worth it for how it performs and how little the cost.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works great
I’m very happy with this fm transmitter. It has a simple setup and the information booklet is very straight forward. I haven’t gotten to test the call features yet but the Bluetooth audio part is outstanding. By far the best transmitter I have ever used. I will definitely suggest this to anyone looking for one.
4.0 out of 5 stars Really solid FM transmitter
Great product! Really loud, well built with some great and unique features. Bluetooth connection was solid, hooked to my phone right away as soon as I turned the car on. This is a big plus, since this wasn’t always the case with my first transmitter. The color customization on the volume knob is pretty neat, and the display is great. It shows the time, the song/artist, and the units volume (connected to the phones volume). Really cool feature on this product is it shows the car battery’s voltage. Not the most useful, but pretty unique feature, and I appreciated it. The EQ buttons are also a plus, I like being able to quickly and easily adjust the bass/treble. It’s also really easy and intuitive to adjust the FM channel the unit broadcasts to, which was an issue with my old transmitter. All of these pros were a big reason I clicked “Buy”, and they didn’t disappoint. Well designed and built product, definitely worth the money. There’s a few units you can buy for the same price point that don’t offer as many cool and unique features. However, my experience hasn’t been all pros. The cord is just barely long enough to get plugged in to the cigarette lighter. This part actually worked well for me, since I didn’t have to tie any extra cord length, or hide the cord, but for others it might be too short, so I figured it’s worth mentioning. Second, the unit can get quite loud, but at high volume on the unit, regardless of the volume of the car stereo itself, some sounds come out as static, and can be quite annoying. Example, at a high volume, the “S” sound comes off sounding like radio static, which can be irritating especially at a higher volume on the car stereo. It takes a while to mess with the EQ settings as well as strike a balance between the volume of the unit and the car stereo to get around this issue, but it is manageable. My last point here is more of a design suggestion than a con. While the volume knob is backlit with fun customizeable colors, the rest of the buttons (besides the bass button, for some reason) are not backlit, which would have been a great design addition, and really improve the quality of the product.
5.0 out of 5 stars I'm glad I bought this!
I have an older vehicle that does not have Bluetooth or an auxiliary plug so I bought this to connect to my phone. It is very easy yo use, and works well as long as my phone isn't in a dead zone, which is hardly ever. I love being able to listen to my music! If you get a phone call, you have to disconnect Bluetooth so that the other party can hear you, even though you can hear them perfectly. It also works really well when using GPS on your phone.
3.0 out of 5 stars Great features, only ok monaural sound
The good - The screen looks great, and the LED color customization is a cool feature. It's nice that you have a read-out for what song is playing and you can easily skip forward or back using the buttons on the screen. AUX output, USB, and micro USB memory stick options are also really nice. Being able to tweak the bass and treble is also nice. The bad - After trying 13 different EMPTY channels, I was never able to get a stereo signal - it was always in mono. I have been able to get a stereo signal using other bluetooth FM transmitters, but they didn't have all of the features I needed. Even with the mono signal, the sound is clipped on the higher frequencies (like an old 64k mp3) and it has a good bit of static - and remember, I tried a LOT of open channels. NOTE: I did try the AUX output and it IS in stereo and actually sounds really good, the high frequencies aren't clipped and there was no static.I will be returning this because it comes at a much higher price point than its competitors, and even though it has a lot of cool features it doesn't meet my basic need of transmitting a stereo FM signal with no static.
Beyond expectations 👍👍👍👍👍
Many Thank you to the entire Nulaxy team, I did have an issue with the original item, and within a day , from the after sale support, Anita, not only was the issue resolved, the replacement item arrived the next day, well packaged and ready for use.The item itself is small enough not to clutter the dash, the screen is large enough to easily see and operate, function buttons are well placed and are responsive to touch, the multi function knob is precise in function, for volume, taking and ending calls, during music playback, a short press brings up the menu for the equalizer with popular presets to choose from, each preset has a audible change when selected, a working feature, the graphic eq has a spectrum display, bright enough to see in daylight, illuminated, yet soft enough not to be a distraction in the night.Bluetooth connection is very fast and solid, no interference, call reception is clear inside of car, the person on the other end hears the call like it is on a phone speaker, unless they take the call on a Bluetooth in their car. Either way, sound quality is present without being garbled. Same goes for music playback, uninterrupted playback, clear sound connection. The USB and SD card is read and displayed, playback is clear and uninterrupted from signal loss. Charging port is a handy addition, charges well and does not affect playback. A long press on the treble button will turn of the item, otherwise, the item turns off and on with the vehicle. What makes this product stand above other similar brands is the complete customer service, from purchase to after sale care, the Nulaxy company is staffed by people who are sincere in their offerings of products and are committed to standing by and protecting their reputation and will certainly make available a positive resolution to any issue.A trusted company, will recommend and purchase from them again.
