5.0 out of 5 stars Great CPU Cooling for a Good Price
When I built my PC five years ago I installed a Dark Rock Pro 4 for my CPU cooler. It worked very well, but over the years the fans grew louder, the cooling became less efficient, and dust began to accumulate in hard to clean places. I decided to look for an affordable replacement and settled on the Thermalright Peerless Assassin. Overall, I believe this was a very good choice.Compared to my Dark Rock Pro 4, the Thermalright Peerless Assassin was a breeze to install. The LGA 155x bracket fit my motherboard and was easy to install. The thermal paste seemed thicker than other pastes I've used, but it went on neatly and is clearly working. The spring screws seem to have secured the cooler to the brackets very well. My biggest complaint with my old cooler was installing the fans. Happily, I can report that the Peerless Assassin's fan are easy to install, and remove if needed, and are secure. In terms of performance, I'm completely satisfied. The fans are not as quiet as my Dark Rock Pro 4 when I first installed it. However, they are an acceptable low volume. My PC has an Intel Core i7-8700k CPU and the cooler has no problem keeping it between 20C to 30C while idle or under a light load. I am no longer an avid gamer, and do not play modern video games, however I did test the thermals while playing Minecraft. It kept my CPU around 40C most of the time and would briefly shoot up to 50C when loading parts of the map.At less than 40 USD this cooler is a fantastic option for CPU cooling. Its significantly less expensive than comparable coolers, is easy to install, and delivers good performance.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great alternate to water cooling CPUs
This cooler is part of a new build using an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D/ASRock X670E Steel Legend motherboard. After using AIO liquid cooling on all my computer builds for years, I thought about making a switch to air cooling based on many recent articles the two cooling types. Thought I'd give this a try and compare for myself, considering the price difference. Install was pretty simple and the included fans seem to perform well enough to get the most out of what this air cooler can provide. After bootup and running the system through its paces, thermals are comparable to my AIO (3 fan). Very quiet during gameplay. My dislikes:Included instruction sheet was pretty minimal and the illustrations really didn't help explain how the clips attached the fans to the cooler. A few minutes on YT videos cured all issues with install. The other downside to this cooler (for me) is that the heat-pipes rise is just short enough when installed on my motherboard that the one fan is sitting on top of my G.Skill RAM (Trident RGB area) after installing according to the instructions and viewing some videos. For me, this happened when installing the fans in the "push" configuration from the videos. If the heat pipes were 1/8th of an inch taller, it wouldn't have been an issue. I may look into changing the fans to a "pull" config (where they are pulling air through) and changing their location on the cooler. However, I'm in no hurry right now as there's no functional problems, just my OCD kicking in a little. Was there any thought given about taller RAM sticks of performance RAM during design? No idea and nothing noted online. Just my experience with this item.Works great and the cost is reasonable, considering how expensive it is right now to tackle a new computer build.Would recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars The Best CPU Cooler Ever - Unmatched Performance and Value!
The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE CPU Cooler is hands down the greatest cooler I’ve ever owned, and honestly, the best one that exists right now. Here’s why I’m so impressed:Unbeatable Performance:This cooler is an absolute beast. The performance-to-price ratio is out of this world, and I don’t think there’s another cooler on the market that can match it in this aspect. It cools even the most demanding CPUs with ease, and it’s up there competing with some of the liquid coolers, which is just incredible for an air cooler at this price point.Design and Aesthetics:Not only does it perform well, but it also looks great. The design is sleek and it fits perfectly into my build. Add in some RGB lighting, and it really stands out. It’s clear that Thermalright put a lot of thought into both the function and the form of this cooler.Long-Term Value:If this cooler continues to perform at this level, I honestly don’t see myself ever needing another air cooler again. It does everything I need it to and more, and at a price that’s hard to believe. It’s rare to find something that excels so much in both performance and value, but this cooler does exactly that.Environmental Concerns:My only gripe is with the packaging. There’s a bit too much plastic, and I’d love to see Thermalright move towards more environmentally friendly, recyclable materials. This is something that’s really important to me, and I hope both other customers and the folks at Thermalright take note. Good companies should lead the way in sustainability.Final Thoughts:The Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE is a game-changer. It’s a powerhouse of a cooler that doesn’t break the bank, looks amazing, and competes with even the high-end liquid coolers. If you’re in the market for a CPU cooler, this one should be at the top of your list. Just a small note to Thermalright—let’s work on that packaging. Otherwise, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase!
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, clean, effective !
This is the go to champ for air cooling. The value is just unbeatable. It looks great and offers great airflow and cooling ability. Overall I highly recommend this Air cooler as it’s proven time and time again to be reliable and affordable.
Beautiful product
I strongly recommend this product. The white coloring has a really soft, smooth feel to it. It feels like a quality product. The ARGB fans look good, and are quiet. It's also nice that the fan cables are white too.I bought it to cool my new 5700X3D CPU. The temps hover around 48C at idle and 89C at load in a 22C room. This is in a SFF case with poor air flow in the case.
Not compatible wit Asus Prime Z790-P
The item is good. However, not great fit for Asus PRIME Z790-P. The fans will not properly fit due to space.
Funciona bien.
That's a lot of cooling!
They're massive! Make sure you've enough room in your case and your ram ain't too tall. These are easily one of the best, looks great and performs so well and it's whisper quite. My mac makes way more noise than my PC now, it definitely runs significantly cooler than the mac, that's for sure. If you're using this on something that draws 200 watts, you can expect 75 to 80 under max sustained loads. While gaming it rarely crosses 60 on GPU bound games, CPU bound games don't push it that much further and while idling expect sub 35 °C. I do live in a place where the ambient temps are quite high, so if your ambients are low you can expect much better results.
uitstekende koeler van top kwaliteit!
Zeer degelijke cpu koeler. Koelt zeer goed en is van uitstekende bouwkwaliteit. Wel letten op RAM hoogte, maar de koelfan kan wel nog hoger geplaatst worden indien nodig.
