5.0 out of 5 stars Great for hiking
I love how light weight yet strong this leash is, great for giving your dog some extra space when hiking rocky areas. Easy to pull the dog closer when needed. Much better than a flex lead, so much lighter, hands free and no burning of your skin if you foolishly grab the extended leash because the buttons jam up and you need to pull your dog close. A bit pricey but I have felt it well worth the cost. I am now a huge Ruffwear fan, great quality products.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this !
Perfect for hiking. I can throw this in my backpack (or around my waist) and have a way to tie my dog if I stop along the trail. Love that I can adjust the length to fit my needs for the situation. Very sturdy with dependable hardware. Ruff Wear is the best brand for people who take their dogs everywhere.
4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, but can bite into your gut if the dog pulls too hard
The custom built belay system works amazingly well and is easy to useI have 3 issues with the product:1. Comfort: the belt can bite into you with enough force. Be sure to wear an undershirt that is properly tucked in. A better padded material would be ideal for the belt2. The weak point is the plastic clasp. It’s still strong, but could be better3. Not enough storage. The pouch to hold the rope is nice, but doesn’t allow me to hold any extras like training treats or poop bags. Maybe a system that allows you to roll the rope up in a neat coil would work?
5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!
This is the best dog leash I’ve ever tried. It’s like a retractable leash but way better quality even though it requires a little more work than an automatic one. I also like the way it looks.
5.0 out of 5 stars This leash is EVERYTHING that is wonderful!
I can't remember the last time I bought a product I was so pleased with, I love my pups but walking them always seemed like such a chore with lots of challenges such and pulling and entanglements as we are still training. This leash changed my life! We frequent places like Bend, Oregon where they are very dog friendly, you can bring your dogs everywhere. The ability to change the lead leash with ease even while using is a game changer, a short lead for busy streets, sidewalks, and public areas where I need them to stay close, safe and not tangle, a long lead for trails and parks where I want to give them more room to explore and it's so easy to change between the options. The ability to put it around my waste has trained them not to pull in less than 24 hours and took the stress out of the training for me. They were getting pulled back by my weight with no bother to me and getting "automatic" training not to pull themselves instead of pulling my arms out of the sockets. I'm not sure what the reviewer was talking about it only being able to be worn on the left, I think that the bad reviews are user error, you can just scoot the belt around your waist and position the lead where ever you like, right, left, back, front....I have two dogs, bought two of these and put one on the left hip and one on the right and do a short lead so they don't tangle when walking both of them by myself. Then having the added ability to be hands free is so liberating, I can drink water, check my phone, order food or drinks, carry food or drinks. Then having the added ability to hitch them to a tree, picnic bench or what have you while resting or eating somewhere makes this an all in one problem solver. Again, this isn't just the best leash I've used it's also the most ingeniously engineered product I have used in a long time. KUDOS Ruffwear keep up the great work. Loving your products!!
3.0 out of 5 stars Great for half a year.
Overall this is pretty good belt leash combo for a dog that doesn't pull. My 55 lb dog likes to pull occasionally on walks and more so on hikes and the locking mechanism stopped working after half a year. For 65 dollars, I wish this product lasted longer. Right now the workaround is to tie a knot at the other end to prevent rope from going through.
5.0 out of 5 stars Pricy for what it is but very practical
Could you clip a leash to a belt and call it a day? Probably but this is way nicer. It’s incredibly practical for hikes and walks where two free hands are nice as much as for early morning neighborhood walks with coffee on hand that you no longer will spill all over yourself because your dog just saw a squirrel. I mainly use it on medium length for my dog to be able to loose leash walk left and right of me. You can only let the rope out on one side as one reviewer noted but I did not see that as a design flaw necessarily. It still works without tripping over the leash if you just pull the belt to the other side so the rope is then not diagonal across yo ur feet. For a puller or a dog that constantly runs back and forth I’d be concerned to give it full rope tied to your waste on steep terrain; that’s where I’d prefer a retractable flexi leash instead. I hope the design will last a long time. It’s pricy but I love it and use it daily
2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly designed - could be so much better.
This is a poorly-conceptualized design, which is a shame because this product could have been great. I thought this would offer some convenience over most normal adjustable-length hands-free leashes, but it does not. The main draw for me was being able to adjust the length mid-walk (especially shortening the length). This could have easily be achieved with some sort of retraction mechanism or even just a manually-fed spool inside the pouch. Instead, the pouch ends up just being a mess of tangled rope that you have to manually shove rope back into in order to retract the leash - this is much more inconvenient than leashes that use normal strap adjusters. It can also only be used with the rope on your left side. For 2-3x the price of most other leashes it really has nothing to offer.
Love it
The media could not be loaded. This is an awesome leash setup. Similar to a Grisha Stewart BAT leash belay. But this one will not work for heavier dogs. Not recommend over 30lbs maybe 35lbs.My dog is 16lbs and she does not pull, I still have to be carefull not to burn my hands. But I love that I can put the rope back to the little pocket. And for hand free walk and run I can set to 5-6 feet and it is perfect. Best handfree running gear for small dogs. Usually bungee part in leashes are to heavy for small dogs. This leash is super light.
Prima
Gut und wertig verarbeitet.Funktional ok, sehr gute Handhabung.Preis: deutlich überhöht, entspricht bei weitem nicht dem Gegenwert.Hersteller gönnt sich hier wohl einen Exklusivitäts-Bonus
WALKED UP BEN NEVIS
Without this I'd never have got up Ben Nevis with the dog.It was excellent for keeping my dog tethered to me both on the way up and down. It worked extremely well, gave me freedom of movement and the ability to use a walking pole without the need to hold a lead. It didn't get in the way of wearing a rucksack either.Only one minor point, the belt could have been a little wider.
Super Teil !
Top Qualität!
Great for hiking
We wanted a long line for hiking along the South West Coastal Path. We didn’t want retractable lines and wanted hands free. This is a great lead, comfortable and the length is easily adjustable depending on your walking needs. I re a easy to pack into the pouch and the band is easy to adjust for different uses and waist sizes.Highly recommended.
