Advanced Bootable NVMe RAID Technology The SSD7105 NVME RAID controller can be used to configure bootable RAID or single NVMe SSD configurations for Windows and Linux systems. Optional UEFI downloads and complete installation guides are available for each supported platform. RAID 10 (Security & Speed) - RAID 10 requires a minimum of 4 NVMe SSD’s and is comprised of a stripe between two RAID 1 arrays. RAID 10 capable of delivering read performance on par with RAID 0, and is superior to RAID 5 for NVMe applications. Unlike RAID 5, RAID 10 doesn’t necessitate additional parity related write operations, which reduce the TBW life span of NVMe SSD’s. RAID 0 (Speed) - Also known as a “stripe” array, this mode delivers Maximum Performance, and requires a minimum of 2 NVMe SSD’s. RAID 1 (Security) - This mode creates a hidden duplicate of the target SSD, and requires 2 NVMe SSD’s to configure. RAID 1 is ideal for bootable volumes. Expanded Compatibility The third generation SSD7105 was designed for easy integration into industry standard motherboard platforms using off- the-shelf M.2 SSD’s. It has been extensively tested with a wide range of commercially available M.2 NVMe drives from all major manufacturers, including MLC, TLC & QLC models, in a variety of hardware environments across both Windows, Linux and Mac platforms.

The physical installation of the card and drives was straightforward. However, setting up the RAID configuration requires booting from a UEFI drive with Highpoint's software installed, which is less user-friendly compared to other RAID controllers that allow direct access during boot. This process demands some technical knowledge, making it less suitable for beginners.Once installed, the drive performed well, and I successfully loaded my Server 2022 installation after installing the necessary drivers. The performance met my expectations, and the monitoring software was adequate. I recommend this product if you're looking for an affordable NVMe RAID PCIe card.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb unit, but just a bit tricky to install

    D.D. · October 1, 2022

There are two units from Highpoint. This one (the 7202) requires you to go through a few rather non-intuitive steps to get Windows to install on it if you are going to use this as a boot device. Once you follow their instructions (kudos to Highpoint for providing clear instructions) this unit works very well! There is a different unit from Highpoint - the SDD6202a that works a little easier if you want a RAID boot array. It is driverless and once the device is set via the dip-switches, behaves like a simple single drive (but is RAID 1 or 0 under the covers). I REALLY like the 6202a. It (the 6202a) has the added bonus of having LEDs that clearly indicate the status of the drives in the array. You can also set the software to monitor the array and email you if there is a failure. Both the 7202 and the 6202 will do the email thing. I did return the 7202 and bought a 5-pack of the 6202a units. These are wonderful, solid and so far appear to be stupid simple and reliable! Highpoint is also a really decent company and even reached out to me for a discussion when I sent them a few questions. A+ Highpoint!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor heatsink fit and HORRIBLE COIL WHINE - had to return

    A. · August 15, 2024

While this was the exact type of card I was looking for, the terrible heatsink design and ridiculously bad coil whine makes it unusable. With drives installed, the cheap screws won't seat the heatsink again - the threads are just tapped into the aluminum, and cut off-center. Even in use, the horrible squealing that I can only assume is coil whine also makes this unusable.

My motherboard doesn't support NVMe RAID and I had to look for a solution like this. I use a x299 board from ASUS so just know my experience might be different. Just make sure you follow the instructions, I forgot one step and didn't turn on a setting in my BIOS which made the process much longer. Once I got that on I created the RAID easily and installed Windows. With that being said, I did have some issues with the drivers while installing Windows but after a couple reboots (A pain but whatever) it was installed and I've had no issues since. My read/write performance is doubled which is nice but I was mainly looking for the space that RAID0 would give me.The guard DOES generate some heat, much more than I was expecting but it isn't much of a problem and hasn't caused any issues with my system. Will update my review later if I have any other thoughts or issues.

3.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed but getting it working as a fight.

So to start this is what you need if bifurcation is not possible or you need a hardware level raid setup. This product is one of a very select few that can accomplish this task and I do endorse it. With that said let's dive into the details.I have an older HPE G9 Dl580. It is a monster server even now with 2TB of ram and enough pcie slots to get all kinds of compute done. One of the drawbacks of this server has been local storage as with its age it did not support bifurcation on the pcie slots and I could not afford to lose and entire 16 lanes for a 4 lane nvme drive. Enter the Highpoint 7105 with the ability to bypass the bifurcation limitation and give me 16 lanes of nvme performance. I must say that this is a well made product with plenty of heat dissipation and a well thought out design. Where the problems start is in the documentation. This is your normal issue of a tech writing a guide. It is well intended but it makes many logic leaps and skips a number of steps. You have a few paths that you can travel down and they are not mutually exclusive. The one that fit my use case (or so I thought) was to build the drive out inside windows and do an inplace migration via drive clone. I loaded all the drivers and everything worked like a charm, until I went to boot the new drive as my OS did not see the drive as a raid array (that had been built) but four disparity drives. No amount of pleading or troubleshooting could ascertain the cause. It was not an issue with the clone or the raid build but the card itself. I reached out to support with a very detailed report of EVERYTHING I had tried and got brick walled. The support team latched onto the line where I cloned the drive and ignored everything else in my email. Finding that gold nugget they fired back we don't support clone in shape or fashion good day to you. I was close to returning the card but I decided to toe the party line and rebuild the array outside of windows and live with a clean instal. Here was where things got fun. Their documentation indicated that this was as easy as building a fat32 drive with their software and some unknown "second" drive. I believe that the second would be an OS instal drive with slipstreamed drivers but this was never made 100% clear. But when I booted the drive it let me know that the array was already built and healthy. So I kept digging and digging until I was just running commands from the help command list and stumbled over a firmware update option. I hit this by complete accident and I am not 100% sure where in the menu it is but this firmware (packaged in the downloaded software) was the missing piece of the puzzle. After this updated the card was seen in the bios as a unit rather than separate drives and booted my cloned OS with missing a beat. I messaged back the support team and they were defensive of any feedback on their documentation or anything.I am going to rate this card fairly low as this required a tantantic effort to get running but it stands alone in the market so if you are here looking it is what you need but hopefully my review can prepare you for the journey of getting it operational.See that attached image for speed of the card (C: vs a five wide sata raid D:). For my needs this was perfect I can load into and out various LLM's with ease now and everything is smoother than over the sata array.

    5.0 out of 5 stars SSD7104 - Great Upgrade for a 2012 MacPro5,1 - Fast and Quiet!

    C.N. · May 9, 2023

I purchased the fanless 7104 model, based on reviews of those with cooling fans. And it has proven to be the right choice: Completely noiseless and ultra-fast, with ample heat-absorbing capacity in the beefy heat sink. The card works beautifully in my 2012 MacPro5,1, for macOS 10.13 and later. Just be sure to install it in either slot 1 or 2, as it requires a full x16 slot.Otherwise, it was truly plug-and-play, without the need for any drivers or other software. Highly recommended!

I purchased this m.2 card to add 4x 4tb sabrent rocket 3.0 ssds to my linux file server. installation was simple, just plug the drives in, place it in a pcie 3.0 x16 slot and booted the server. all drives showed up immediately and i have had no problems with it going on 10 months now. a word of warning this device will run HOT so you MUST HAVE proper airflow. I ended up strapping a slim 120mm noctua fan to it since it was hitting 70c even with the 3x 120mm noctua fans in the front of the case running at 80% duty pushing air through the 4u chassis. With the extra fan temps dropped 10c under the same load which is still a bit hot but within safe margins.

Un calvario configurarla, pero funciona súper bien.

    J.S. · October 2, 2021

Fue una misión de varias pizzas, al final logramos que funcionara en Windows pero en Linux no. Quedó como interfaz sin RAID por que el servidor en cuestión es Linux, pero funciona perfecto como interfaz PCIe- NVME

The latest and fastest in hardware raid.

Being a satisfied customer of High Point I purchased 7505 after 7103Very happy about the speed and the low decibal level sound of the cooling fan. While the 7103 was little annoying my wife in terms of the PC Sound level in our bed room. But 7505 Cooling system is much worked upon. Thanks
