5.0 out of 5 stars Liquid gold In a bottle
I started using this product on August 9th, 2020. I have always been a bit apprehensive about trying something different from my normal skincare routine. What I was using has been working well; basically, a cleanser, a granular scrub of some sort, an Alpha Hydroxy Acid product and an eye moisturizer. I have always gotten compliments on my skin, but I regularly reevaluate what the needs of my skin are every few years and make minor changes to my routine. I felt it was time to try something a little different. Skincare has become far more scientific over the years with a host of products that actually work, but change is hard when you have something you are happy with. As I was shopping around on Bolo, I came across this. It had ingredients I researched online and I figured I had nothing to lose since I could ALWAYS go back to what I was already using. It was inexpensive enough, so why not try it? What I liked about the labeling of the product was the list of ingredients and I was especially curious about the Niacinamide and the MSM. I had never tried it and felt that my skin might benefit so long as the other ingredients kept their promise of keeping my skin clear (Retinol & Salacylic Acid) without drying it out.I was going to wait a full month before posting a review, but at approximately three weeks in, I have to say that this product is AMAZING. My skin is translucent, the texture is refined, my coloring has become more even. My razor glides over my skin quite effortlessly and after a shave, my skin feels so smooth and so soft, that I literally can't believe it's my skin.I had figured that with age, certain changes in my skin were inevitable no matter what I used. As effective as my previous regimen was, I noticed that uneven discolorations had popped up here and there (hyperpigmentation). I felt that the AHA I was using, would have to be replaced with a stronger / higher percentage product, but I didn't want to go that route if I didn't have to. I was already at 14% and I was concerned about going much stronger, but it was obvious that my skin was getting resistant. I originally started with 8% decades ago, then eventually went up to 10%, then 12% and finally 14%. I also wanted a product that was more of an all in one kind of thing (clearing, fading AND moisturizing)Anyway, with some apprehension, I chose to try this product which appeared to have a LOT of stellar reviews. I thought that it had to be too good to be true, especially given the price, but I am one who has absolutely NEVER believed that a higher price meant a better product. I've tried Clinique and Elizabeth Arden and Estee Lauder and any number of more expensive products, especially in the early years when I was desperate for ANYTHING that would keep my skin clear. They were either too harsh or completely useless and ineffective. It took a while, but I finally got past the myth that expensive meant better and went the natural product route which gave me my first success. I added the AHA much later in my 30's.In any case, that first night when I used the serum, I thought there was no way this light, milky, watery substance could POSSIBLY be as effective as my current routine. There was a very mild sting just as with my AHA products. The scent, which I would describe as medicinal, wore off as soon as the product was absorbed...literally seconds. After a couple of days, I started noticing that my coloring started to even out ever so slightly and then a few days later, most surprisingly, a blemish that had left a dark mark was fading much faster than normally expected. Usually, it would take several weeks to disappear. So, I got through week one and was pleased, but week 2 saw the surface peeling and flaking away leaving a fresh layer of skin underneath. My scrub easily assisted in the process of removing the dead surface cells. The difference was dramatic. Suddenly my skin was even smoother than I could remember for a long time, especially after having used AHA products religiously for decades. Little invisible subsurface needle sized bumps (congested pores) released their debris and were easily washed away with the scrub as well. The texture was better and shaving became even easier. The blades simply glided across the surface getting all the hairs in one pass. Discolorations that I had accepted as being permanent, are either gone or so significantly diminished that they are easily overlooked or discreetly hidden with the tiniest dab of skin matching concealer. Week three simply shows further improvement. In fact, there's nothing to hide. I can't believe this light, thin liquid could possibly be so effective, in such a short time. I immediately ordered another bottle after the second week, so that should tell you something. I don't want to be without it. Now I do have a few cautions:1. Your skin will flake, but if you use a scrub, be gentle, especially if the scrub you use is highly abrasive, as mine is. I have a VERY hardy skin, but I did over-do it a little one time. I found that laying off both products for a day easily took care of the minor irritation I had caused myself. From then on I have been very gentle (letting the products do their thing and especially not working my scrub so forcefully; even using a less abrasive formula) and the products work together like a dream.2. I chose to stop using my AHA products, as a precaution, for two weeks prior to receiving the new serum, since I wasn't sure what to expect and didn't want to risk a possible reaction.Given that my skin does NOT fall into the "sensitive" category, what works for me may not work for you. I STRONGLY SUGGEST DOING A PATCH TEST AS RECOMMENDED over a few days to see how your skin reacts. I had no ill effects other than being overzealous with my scrub the one time. If the product irritates you after a few times of regular use, stop for a day or two or limit how often you use it...maybe once as opposed to twice a day or ever other day. This strategy worked with my AHA products and I quickly got used to them, but certainly, if the product irritates you no matter what you do, then it's obviously not for you.3. You may experience a slight purge. It probably depends on your skin. I noticed in some reviews that this was mentioned, while in others there was no indication that this happened. One reviewer stopped using the product because of this, but from the photos that were posted, the purge was quite active and severe, but no product is perfect for everyone. Mine was very slight. I didn't panic, especially since the little invisible pin points I mentioned earlier were gone in one scrub. I had a couple of blemishes that formed on my forehead, which is very oily, but they cleared and faded from view in just a few days. I know my skin well enough that I was not concerned, especially since normally I would have to deal with the blemish for several days and the aftermath of a discoloration for weeks beyond that. With this product, all was well and back to normal in just a matter of a few days. A dark mark never formed. The blemishes cleared, faded to pink and then disappeared completely in less than a week. For me, that's good; in fact miraculous.4. I found that for me, the product made it through week three, but I have just now opened the other bottle. Using this on my face and neck (which also looks better), I find that the bottle contents did not last a month, but that could just be me. I do think that Eva Naturals should consider offering a larger size option, just as they do with their eye serum, which I purchased along with my second bottle of the clearing serum and have just started using that as well. I'll give a review on the eye serum in a few more weeks, especially since research of the ingredients shows that they take several weeks to show improvement although I'm already pretty hopeful. In summary, this is an effective multi task product that not only addresses multiple challenging skincare needs but also simplifies your routine and costs a lot less too. I noticed that other products are available as well. It appears that Eva Naturals has designed their line-up to allow customers to tailor their regimens to individual needs. That's how it should be. Just research your ingredients so that you know what they do and what to expect. So, get it, try it and see if you like it. Just remember that this particular product is for skin that has multiple challenges including acne, so figure out your skincare needs and then proceed accordingly. There's a lot to choose from. So far I like the eye serum, but as i previously indicated, it has not been long enough to judge the effectiveness. I hope this was helpful to someone. Good luck. I hope your experience will be as good as mine.Update 9/21/2020:So, another 10 days or so have passed and my skin has continued to improve. I'm REALLY happy. My coloring has completely evened out. My forehead is purging still, but not to any great degree. That's my oiliest area anyway. Once the blemishes pass the area clears up and the skin is like glass. There's just one area above the temple on one side that is going through the change. I do plan to try pairing this with a snail mucin product after another month or two. Perhaps I will try a moisturizer or another skin repairing serum. I haven't decided yet. I have ordered additional products from Eva; a toner and an exfoliating scrub. Their cleanser is currently unavailable and has been since I first ordered this product. In the meantime, I've gone ahead and ordered cleansers from another company and fully adopted a 7 step Korean skin care regimen. I had no idea that all these years I was doing something very similar already, so not a huge leap, but the ten step is really more of a myth and unrealistic (something you would do when giving yourself a facial perhaps). I will be writing separate reviews of their eye serum and the neck cream, both of which I am pleased with so far, but it's still too early.
5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant surprise
I didn't really have any expectations when I ordered this serum. I'm 49 and work from home and frankly, beauty has pretty much become my lowest priority. I am not in the know when it comes to skincare and cosmetics. Not at all. In fact I had never even heard of Vitamin C Serum until one day when I was looking at the news online and saw a photo of Jared Kushner looking, well, not 100% human. As I recall, I googled something to the effect of "Jared Kushner plastic face" and found an article that featured several MUA's giving suggestions for how he could make his face look like it was covered in skin rather than Saran Wrap. Along with setting powder, Vitamin C Serum was the most frequent suggestion. Well, if they think it would make him look better then maybe I should give it a try too. So I headed to Bolo, balanced ratings and prices and chose the Eva product.Since we're being honest, I'll say that my skin has never been perfect. I've got large pores, they clog, I get occasional breakouts and there is an overall pink tone due to fussing at it too much as a teenager/young adult. On top of all that joy, I've now reached the stage of dark bags under my eyes, fine wrinkles and deep 11 furrows in my brow. It is definitely NOT a good time for me to give up on trying to look better. So my Eva Serum arrived and I really didn't know what to do with it. The consistency is watery, so... cotton ball? Use the dropper and drop it directly on my face? I decided to drop a bit into my palms and rub it in. That seemed to work well. I experimented with the amount... one drop? a full dropperful? About 3 drops turned out to be a good amount. It has a scent that is natural, I don't think it is perfumed at all, but I like it - maybe I've convinced myself that the scent is the smell of me doing something good for my skin. Who knows, but I like it.So I washed my face, dried, used gentle astringent, applied the Vitamin C serum, let it dry and applied moisturizer. Woke up in the morning and saw no change (I did say this was a pleasant surprise rather than an earth-shaking miracle, right?) I repeated this mornings and nights for about 3 days, then had a couple of unsightly blemishes. I'm told that it takes a certain number of weeks to cycle through the old skin completely, so my blemishes were likely on my skin's agenda long before I even knew about the serum, so I can't cast blame. After a few more days of repeating morning and night, my skin actually DID look better! Subtly better, but better all the same. My pores are smaller and less visible - only small darkness in pores instead of large. Best of all, one of my 11 lines has started to become less deep. So now it's more like a 1 and a dotted line, which is super-exciting after all the years I've spent scowling and squinting at the financial reports on which I blame those furrows. To the touch, my skin also feels nicer - smoother, softer, a little more supple. Still 49 years old, but a better 49.So now that the rest of my face started to look better, I got to thinking about the dark bags under my eyes... I started searching Bolo for an eye cream. Looked at a bunch, couldn't choose, didn't want to spend money on something that wouldn't work. But then I realized that the ingredients in the eye creams were all about the same as in the Vitamin C Serum. Now the skin around my eyes is as sensitive as the next girl's so I was a little nervous about this, but I decided to pat a little of the serum below my eyes... no discomfort! The next day I went all the way and used it under my eyebrows, on the eyelids and did not skimp under my eyes. Still no discomfort!! So this product turns out to double as an eye cream too and I do notice that the dark circles and puffiness aren't quite as bad as before.I think I'm using my first bottle up faster than I should because of my experimentation with the amounts, but I like it enough that I don't want to run out and have put another bottle in my Bolo cart today. Overall, I think it is worth the price and I would recommend it to a friend.
4.0 out of 5 stars Smells fresh
Update: The seller emailed me and offered their apologies which I thought was very kind. I honestly love the smell of this serum and I'm hoping that there will be a difference if I order a second bottle.I love how this serum smells and feels on my skin but I will say that I do not see a difference and I always follow instructions when it comes to hair and skin products. Hopefully I will see a difference soon.
5.0 out of 5 stars I goes on smoothly, and I feel it had no smell
I like the way it goes on my skin, and my skin has a glow after I use it. I use it in conjunction with Bio Oil, and I love the way my skin feels
5.0 out of 5 stars It really works!
I never write reviews but had to because this serum starts boasting results in only 2 days! Got it to brighten my skin but it has tightened and evened might skin tone, as well. Not even kidding, visible improvement in only 2 days, I’m hooked! Thought I was ready for more Botox on my 11’s but this serum bought me more time! Was originally going to purchase the serum from Bliss after seeing a TikTok, but searched for a less expensive version that still has 20% vitamin C and here we are! Get it, you will love it!
3.0 out of 5 stars It was working.
Initially, when I ordered it, I really liked using it. My skin was smoother, glowing and pretty, so I reordered but the second time it burnt my skin, I started getting bumps and my cheeks felt rough. I threw it away.
Perfect Creamy Blend of Serum & Moisturizer
I decided to try this serum as it has all the ingredients I could ever want in a serum - vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid, niacinimide & retinol. It is also touted as a brightening serum for dark spots, which my naturally tanned skin could use.The serum is a perfect creamy blend of serum & moisturuzer. It has a white color, which I've never seen in a serum before, but not too thick nor too watery; rather, just perfect. I use this serum on my face, neck, lips & under the eyes in the mornings on its own. I find that it provides just the right amount of moisturization while maintaining a lightness & airiness to it. It glides on smoothly & is lapped up by the skin quickly, as hyaluronic acid does without the stickiness found with other brands. I don't believe it was intended for this purpose but, it also acts like a primer & creates a perfect base for the application of makeup.I haven't used it long enough to truly comment on its lightening effect however, I can say that I have noticed that my face does look brighter in the 3 weeks that I used it.I am very pleased with this serum so, it will be continue to be a staple in my beauty regimen. I am also very pleased to see that the price isn't outlandish, as has been the case with most products on the market these days. Lastly, I am a huge proponent of natural, cruelty-free products & this serum fits the bill perfectly!
Super absorbent and leaves skin glowy
I have basically never had a skincare routine besides getting my makeup off with moisturiser, rinsing the residue off then another round of clean moisturiser… I do have very soft skin as a result! but I’ve realised I’m 39 and I probably need to do some serious damage control for the wrinkles and frown lines because I scowl a lot whilst I’m yelling at my work laptop. To be honest there’s so many products and different how to guides it’s all baffling, so when I came across this serum and it mentioned several things in one I thought I’d give it a go! I have now gotten into a routine of at the very least washing my face then applying the serum followed by moisturiser. The consistency is watery (looks a bit dodgy) so it sinks in really quickly, it doesn’t feel at all tacky or sticky. Within literally a minute or so it’s absorbed. It does have a smell and normally I can’t wear anything with a strong smell but this is quite pleasant. As you only need a small amount to cover your face it’s not too strong, just don’t put it too near your eyes (underneath is fine but leave a little gap between your eyelash line & the eye bag area). I used a small bottle and have now bought a bigger one, and also one for my mum. To me I’d say the benefits are my skin does seem a bit glowier & less dull, & I had some sun spots (darn being so pale, swear they just appeared one day from walking home without spf on) which have faded slightly. I’ll continue to use this and I’m also going to try the collagen peptide one.
Super
