    It's only 135 watts on high so it doesn't get too hot. For me the temperature settings 5-8 is good. I find laying on top of it and wrap it around my feet gives nice comfort. I'm under chemotherapy and a lost of weight it's harder to stay warm. This blanket really helps.The power cord unplugs at the blanket so it can be washed. I did one wash, a partial gentle cycle, stop after a few minutes, restart with a rinse only cycle, low spin. With the dryer, low heat for a few minutes. Remove when damp and line dry.The wash instructions are almost a manual hand wash. Insert the blanket, fill the machine (top loader). Add detergent but not too much. Hand wash and rinse with a rinse and spin cycle. In other words, do not run it through a regular wash cycle as it could damage the electric heater insulation.The power cords are long, however, AC power to the switch is a bit too short and from the switch to the blanket is very long. I had to use a short extension cord. If you unplug the cord at the blanket, it displays an error code. After reinserting the cord, it must be unplugged at the wall outlet to reset it.My only dislike is when it's turned on, it defaults to temp level 1 (L) for 8 hours. I would preferred 1 hour.
