5.0 out of 5 stars Cools i5-10400 well
I set up a personal NAS that uses Plex - this cools the i5-10400 very well. Idle temps are 30*C, and doesn't go past 40*C even with heavy transcoding using the integrated graphics. Cheap and works - if you are a fan of RGB, it has that as well. I didn't get it for that, but it's a plus if you prefer it.Since it's a NAS, my PC is always on (24/7). So far so good after months of use. Will update my review if it has issues. The install was simple. Fits like a glove. I'm not sure why some reviews state issues with the install, but as long as you get it for the correct motherboard, it's not a problem. Thermal paste could be the issue for those who are complaining. Make sure to watch some videos on how to apply paste. I've been building computers for a long time now, but I can say the cooler itself is fine, especially if you use a an i5-10400.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Cheap Fan That Looks Good Under the Hood.
I had to replace a more popular CPU fan I recently purchased for my media center PC and the case vent is right over the CPU fan but it was not a variable controllable fan (3 pin) so I had to replace it with this one, it had similar height clearance and its a tad cheaper. This fan come with two attached cords, one for the 4 Pin connector and the other I am guessing for RGB stuff that I did not connect. I didn't think the LED lighting was going to work without that second connection but it did. Even though I am not a big fan of LED lighting in cases, this one is not overwhelming and it actually kinda looks kewl coming out the top of my case. But more importantly, it is super quite especially during idle. It does become noticeably louder when gaming but I am OK with that, as long as it is keeping my CPU cool enough to keep gaming, which it does. I am glad I bought this and would buy again, a great cheap fan that looks good under the hood.
4.0 out of 5 stars Can't beat the price.
For $10 this is a good choice replace the stock Intel coolers. Those are effective but can be load and distracting. This cooler performs a bit better, not significantly better but definitely better. It's biggest draw though its that it is much quieter and pleasant to be around then the stock cooler when the cpu's under load. And the RGB is nice touch as well. My motherboard didn't support it but the cooler does come with an addressable RGB header for those who have the connection.FYI: I used this on an HP Slimeline 270 SFF and while the cooler did fit comfortably no space clearance issues of any kind due note that you "cannot" use the mounting bracket that is already attached to the motherboard. The cooler will not make contact with the cpu. You "must" use the included bracket that comes with the cooler. Temps might seem fine at first if you don't use the correct bracket but once you put it under sustained load temps will spike to 90-100c range is easily. With the right bracket all was good and I saw lower temps than with the stock cooler.Used with an Intel I7 7700 ; LGA 1151For prebuilt OEM system and for anyone who is NOT over clocking I would recommend this as a cheap upgrade/replacement to the stock cooler.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works great
It’s easy to install, really quiet and it’s worth the 10 bucks. rgb looks good and temps i need to test
5.0 out of 5 stars Great fan for the price!
This was basically the most inexpensive fan of its kind that includes ADDRESSABLE color LEDs on it for a cpu like what we have.We have an Asus Z270 motherboard and a 6th gen i5 cpu that uses a 1151 mount. Thus works for the 1151 mount just perfectly. I also preferred this to other fans on here because of the black heatsink where almost all others was silver. This looks snazzy and fits perfect! It came with a small pack of thermal paste to self apply and that was easy. It plugs into my case's RGB controller box so when I press the LED button on my case it changes the ring on the fan to match the big fans on the front of the case. There are others on here that are static and stay 1 color or rainbow and are not addressable bit THIS one is addressable.Ran it through the ASUS bios and it runs just fine, I have it set to 40% speed up to 40c and then 60% at 60c and 100% at 70c+ and have not seen the cpu go over 42c in all honesty.Great price, looks good, blavk heatsink, comes with thermal paste, it is addressable and plugs into the motherboard or rgb box. Perfect item!
5.0 out of 5 stars Super quiet
Love how super quiet this is but still keeps CPU cool enough while playing games like ''call of duty BO6'' can't even tell the computer is on if you're not looking at the LED
5.0 out of 5 stars Low profile is correct
The media could not be loaded. This is a bargain. Imagine a stock Intel cooler vs this one. You get a great visual and performance boost for a low price. It's bright, it fits great and the build quality is very sturdy. Has weight to it. I recommend this for budget builds hands down.
5.0 out of 5 stars 9$ bargain
The media could not be loaded. You really can't beat this cooler for 9$. I wouldn't throw it on a ryzen 9 or i9 but the lower chips definitely and some lower wattage mid range chips. Quiet, low profile, rgbs aren't terrible especially for the price. Took me maybe 5 minutes to install. The longest part was pulling the motherboard.
Awful mounting bracket bent the motherboard. Poor thermal transfer
Two major problems with this fan:1. The bracket is poorly designed and creates an arch on the reverse side which will **bend your motherboard**. Hopefully people catch this before it permanently damages an expensive main board!2. Poor thermal transfer: Mounted on an i7-12700k. Even with on optional contact frame/thermal spreader, the CPU was still hitting 90C during soak testing. Replaced with a Hyper 212 and thermals dropped to 75C under the same load.Avoid this fan and spend a few extra dollars on something that is designed to work with your motherboard and CPU. Do NOT trust this fan to protect your modern, expensive hardware!!
Make sure you have an aRGB header (connector) on your motherboard first
It's a nice looking RGB fan, very quiet, large heat sink. Just make sure you have a 5V aRGB header on your motherboard, because if you don't you will need to buy an RGB controller for the LED's to work.
Not strong enough
Bought for a 12700k, had to buy something stronger as it was near or at 100 degrees celcius while gaming.
